Constance Louise Weddell Forand LaunderviIIe

Feb. 16, 1949 - Nov. 10, 2004

Port Henry — "The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want."

Connie went to be with the Lord on Nov. 10, 2004, at the age of 55.

She was born Feb. 16, 1949, in Vergennes, Vt., the daughter of Ailene M. (Thompson) Weddell and the late Robert R. Weddell. Connie was loved by all and loved everybody and she was always helping somebody.

In her youth, Connie was a cheerleader at Vergennes Union High School, where she was also a member of the band. She was also a member of the choir at Ferrisburg Methodist Church, as well as a member of the 4-H Club.

Connie was a 1967 graduate of Vergennes Union High School. The September following graduation, she married her first love, C. Michael Forand. Together, Connie and Mike raised two children, Michael and Wendy. She moved from Vergennes in 1975 to work with her husband on Hilltop Farm in Moriah, N.Y. Connie was a member of the Seth Warner chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

In 1987, she was at her daughter's side for the birth of her first grandson, Eric and she was delighted that she was among the first people to hold him. For roughly the past 23 years, she cared for people in their homes. She started working for Essex County, moving on to Mountain and Valley up until their closing and finally North Country Home Service, where she earned a Distinguished Service Award in 1997.

She is survived by her mother, Ailene M. (Thompson) Weddell; her sister, Barbara L. (Weddell) Bolduc and her husband Peter of New Haven, Vt.; her children and their spouses, C. Michael Forand Jr. and Tara, Wendy A. Forand-Burroughs and Raymond; as well as grandsons Eric J. Forand, Thomas M. Forand and Miranda and Andrew ter Steege, all of Ticonderoga, N.Y.; grandchildren Steven, Ashley and Jake of Columbus, Ohio; as well as many nieces and nephews; her dog Sheba and cats Osh and Charlie.

Her father, Robert R. Weddell; her husband of nine years, Benjamin T. Launderville; and sister-in-law, Anne (Forand) Gardner, predeceased Connie.

A memorial service will be conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Ferrisburg Methodist Church, Ferrisburg, Vt. Calling hours will be held Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8 p.m. at the Harland Funeral Home in Port Henry. A memorial service will follow at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Connie's family is asking for no monetary donations. Instead, donate time in such a way that you are helping others who cannot help themselves. You could perhaps shop for your elderly neighbor’s groceries, bring them a warm meal a few nights a week, or help plant their garden in the spring. Invaluable deeds like these give a sense of kindness, selflessness and fellowship, traits that Connie demonstrated day after day of her short life on earth.
