Shirley M. Seymour

Crown Point/Saranac — Shirley A Seymour, 67, of Middle Road, Crown Point, died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2004, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

She was born in Plattsburgh, Aug. 19, 1937, the daughter of Herman and Bessie (Thatcher) Caldwell.

She was a homemaker and enjoyed playing bingo and going to the casino.

Survivors include her children and their spouses, Bonnie and Jon Landry of Crown Point, Diane and Jeff Liberty of Clayburg, Bruce and Georgia Besaw of Plattsburgh, Kenny and Holly Besaw of Schuyler Falls, David and Beth Besaw of Saranac, Nancy and Mike McCray of Schuyler Falls, Douglas and Pam Besaw of Peru and Ralph "Rob" and Susan Besaw of Harkness; a sister, Patricia Hinds of Crown Point; 25 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. A special thank you to her niece Beverly and Ester and Joyce for always being her best friends.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Franklin Seymour; eight brothers; and two sisters.

Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Peru. A prayer service will be held at 3:30 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home with Monsignor Lawrence M. Deno, pastor of the St. James Minor Church in Cadyville, officiating. Burial will be held at a day and time to be announced at the Fairview Cemetery in Crown Point.

Donations in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society for ovarian cancer.

Margaret G. McFadden

Ticonderoga — Margaret G. McFadden, 73, formerly of Ticonderoga and Queens, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2004, at the Pleasant Valley Nursing Home of Argyle.

Born in Albany, Feb. 20, 1931, she was the daughter of the late George and Margaret (Neuman) Topping.

Mrs. McFadden lived in Queens for many years, where she was employed by O.T.B.

She has been a resident of Ticonderoga since 1992.

Survivors include two sons, David Williams and his wife Jill of Maplewood, N.J., and Michael Williams of Saratoga; three daughters, Nancy Lethbridge and her husband Chip of Ticonderoga, Theresa Goldstein and her husband Kenneth of Woodbury and Evelyn McCarthy and her husband Kevin of Gansevoort; and one brother, George Topping of Mt. Pleasant, S.C. She is also survived by five grandsons, Mickey Lethbridge of Glens Falls, Christopher McCarthy and Sean McCarthy, both of Gansevoort and Jonah Williams and Aaron Williams, both of Maplewood, N.J.; and one granddaughter, Sara Lethbridge of Schenectady.

Relatives and friends may call Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home, 11 Algonkin St., Ticonderoga.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Ticonderoga. The Rev. William G. Muench, pastor, will officiate.

The Rite of Committal will follow at the family plot of St. Mary's Parish Cemetery of Ticonderoga.

Esterina D. Tortorelli

Ballston Spa, N.Y. — Esterina D. Tortorelli, 97, of the Maplewood Manor in Saratoga Springs, died on Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2004, at her residence after a long illness. She was born on Oct. 6, 1907, in Manhattan and was the daughter of the late Michael and Esterina (Giannone) DeRosa.

She had worked for the NYC Dept of Housing and Buildings in Queens where she had been a clerk. In her early years, she had been a communicant of St. Peter's Parish in Plattsburgh and St. Alexander’s Church in Morrisonville. Having a close relationship with her churches, Esterina was a member of the choir, had been a lector and was also a Eucharistic minister. She was the beloved wife of the late Vincent J. Tortorelli, who died on July 19, 1971.

She is the devoted mother of Mrs. Norman (Victoria T.) Morey of Malta, Vincent J. Tortorelli Jr., of Wyckoff, N.J., and the late Franklin E. Tortorelli; sister of the late Margaret, Salvatore, Michael, Josephine and Mary; mother-in-law of Dianne Tortorelli and Jacqueline Tortorelli. She is also survived by eight grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Predeceased by her grandchildren Bernedette Story and Christopher Tortorelli.

A funeral will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Corpus Christi Church in Ushers, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. There will be no calling hours.

Interment will be in Mt. St. Mary Cemetery, Flushing, N.Y.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Residence's Association at Maplewood Manor, 149 Ballston Ave., Ballston Spa, NY 12020.

Hazel Gebo

ROUSES POINT — Hazel Gebo, 89, passed away peacefully at Cedar Hedge Nursing Home in Rouses Point, Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2004.

She was born Aug. 24, 1915, in Alburg, Vt., the daughter of Frank and Mary (Ratta) Turner.

On Sept. 14, 1934, Hazel married Francis Gebo in St. Amadeus Church in Alburg. He predeceased her May 21, 1994. Her first son, Donald Gebo, born in 1939, died in 1940 in the hospital.

She was a 50-year member of the Catholic Daughters of America and a longtime parish member of St. Patrick's Church. She taught fifth grade religion for 21 years at St. Patrick's and received a beautiful plaque from Pope John Paul. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, she will be deeply missed by all who were honored to know her.

Hazel is survived by her daughter, Elaine James and husband Vernon of Alburg, Vt.; her son, Albert Gebo and wife Krystyna of Yonkers, N.Y.; two sisters, Rita Ratta and her husband Donald of Plattsburgh, N.Y., and Marie Agnew and her husband Alfred Agnew of Plattsburgh, N.Y.; a sister-in-law, Helene Turner of Hudson Falls, N.Y.; and a brother-in-law, Ray Jalbert and his wife Anita of Fiskdale, Mass. Hazel is also survived by grandchildren, Karen Aulis and her husband David of Alburg, Vt., Keith Mumly of Westport, N.Y., Chris James and his wife Jill of Champlain, N.Y., Robert Gebo and Bryan Gebo; great-grandchildren, Rachel and Adam Paquette and Jordan and Quinn Mumly, Samantha Lockerby and Lucas James; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by three brothers, George Turner of Hudson Falls, N.Y., Donald Turner of Coopersville, N.Y., and Floyd Turner of Plattsburgh, N.Y.; a sister, Altha Jalbert of Fiskdale, Mass.; a sister-in-law, Rita Turner of Coopersville, N.Y.; and two nephews, Donnie Ratta and Gary Agnew.

There will be no calling hours. Rev. Clyde Lewis will celebrate a Mass of Christian burial Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church in Rouses Point. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery in the family vault.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Patrick's Church in Rouses Point or St. Amadeus Church in Alburg, Vt.

Arrangements are with the Clark Funeral Home in Rouses Point.

Emil R. Zerella, 47, of 713 County Route 43, Fort Covington, N.Y., died unexpectedly Monday, Nov. 1, 2004, at the Alice Hyde Hospital in Malone after being stricken at his home.

He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Aug. 9, 1957, the son of Carmine R. and Leta (Brokaw) Zerella Sr.

Calling hours will be Friday from 9 to 10:45 a.m. at the Cappiello-McKenzie and Cosgrove Funeral Home in Fort Covington. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Church, with the Rev. Stephen Rocker officiating. Burial will be in the new St. Mary's Cemetery in Fort Covington.
