Sara L. Goddeau

DANNEMORA — Sara. L. "Angel Bear" Goddeau, 26, died Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh, surrounded by her loving family, after a long courageous battle with a rare form of Muscular Dystrophy, Friedreich’s Ataxia.

She was born in Plattsburgh on Oct. 17, 1977, the daughter of Donald "Bonhomme" and Brenda (Garrow) Goddeau.

Sara will be most remembered for her love of animals. She also enjoyed, bingo, her computer and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her parents, Donald and Brenda Goddeau of Beekmantown; her companion, Oscar Grice of Dannemora; and her best friend, her boxer, Kiana Ray; her maternal grandmother, Joan Garrow of Dannemora; her sister, Dawn Elise Goddeau and her companion Bill Perry of Redford; a very special niece she helped raise from birth to present, Cheyenne Joslin Goddeau of Dannemora; her brother, Mark Goddeau of Beekmantown; her god parents, Carl and Gloria Goddeau of Cadyville; many aunts; uncles; cousins; and special friends including her tutor, Beth Grafals; her cardiologist, Dr. John Baker; and her many caregivers.

She was predeceased by her paternal grandparents, Albert and Catherine Goddeau of Cadyville; and maternal grandfather, Joseph E. Garrow of Dannemora.

Calling hours were held on Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2004, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the O’Neill-Redden-Drown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. on Wednesday from St. Joseph’s Church in Dannemora.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation or to the family.

Jared R. Provost

CADYVILLE — Jared R. Provost, 18, of Provost Lane, passed away on Monday, Oct. 11, 2004, as the result of an automobile accident.

He was born in Plattsburgh on Feb. 3, 1986, son of Russell C. and Kim M. (O'Connell) Provost.

Jared had attended Saranac Central School. He loved the outdoors, fishing, animals and basketball. Jared was a free spirit with few boundaries in life. He was family oriented and loved to spend time with his mom, dad and dog, Harley. Spending time with his friends meant so much to him as well.

Jared had an uncanny way of letting the people he cared about know how much he loved them. His tender heart prompted him to bring his mother the first wildflower of spring every year, help a four-year-old niece catch butterflies and to call his grandmother "Precious Cargo" when he was driving her around. He touched a lot of people's lives and stamped his impression in our hearts forever.

Jared is survived by his parents, Russell and Kim Provost of Cadyville; his maternal grandmother and her husband, Eileen Darrah and Clarence "Bob" Darrah of Cadyville; his paternal grandparents, Charles and Jean Provost of Plattsburgh; several aunts; uncles; cousins; and many friends.

Calling hours will be Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Park Row, Cadyville. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10 a.m. from St. James Minor Church in Cadyville.

Donations in his memory may be made to Dannemora Rescue Squad or Saranac Central High School Scholarship Fund.

Laura Dufrane

Plattsburgh — Laura Dufrane, 88, of Plattsburgh, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 10, 2004, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

She was born in Churubusco on May 25, 1916, daughter of Adolph and Emma (Babbeau) LeClair Jr.

Laura is survived by four children, Vina Beckwith of Plattsburgh, Mary Winterbottom and her husband Robert of Plattsburgh, Joseph Dufrane and his wife Joyce of Plattsburgh and Roxie Francis of Plattsburgh; a brother, Joseph LeClair of Salvay, N.Y.; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Laura was predeceased by her husband, Stephen Dufrane; and a sister, Stella Chapple.

Calling hours were held Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 a.m. from St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery in Plattsburgh.

Rena Loretta Pratt

Plattsburgh — Rena Loretta (Lou) Pratt, 75, of Evergreen Valley Nursing Home, Plattsburgh and Rose Avenue, Rouses Point, N.Y., died Sunday, Oct. 10, 2004, at CVPH Medical Center.

She was born in Arthur, Ky., Dec. 23, 1928, the daughter of Fred and Hallie (Stice) Skaggs.

Mrs. Pratt was a member of Three Steeples Methodist Church and the Disabled American Veteran's Auxiliary.

In previous years, Mrs. Pratt was a well-known seamstress, sewing for family, friends and others. She taught sewing class for Clinton Community College in the local area for a short time. She was a stay at home mom raising 10 children.

She is survived by her sister, Barbara Jean Phillips of Michigan; 7 children, Shirley Niemiec of Massachusetts, Barbara Castine of Florida, Audrey Chapman of California, Linda Fosher of Rouses Point, N.Y., Glenn Pratt of Massachusetts, Anna Bourdon of St. Albans, Vt., and Laverne Virgile, Pennsylvania; and a special family member, Jacqueline Colgan of New York. Also surviving her are many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law; nieces; nephews; and her close friend, Theresa Supley; and the many staff at Evergreen Nursing Home who cared and loved her the past two years. As well as the wonderful staff of the Dialysis Unit who has cared for her for many years.

She was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth H. Pratt; her sons, Edward L. Gross and Curtis R. Pratt; and daughter Mary C. Laporte Guastella; sisters Mamie Lowery, Mary Bell Sutton; and brother Ruben Edmon Skaggs.

Calling hours will be at the Clark Funeral Home in Champlain, N.Y., on Friday from 7 to 9:30 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Three Steeples Church, Route 11, Champlain. Burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery in Rouses Point.

Johanne Boehm

Peru — Johanne Boehm, 93, of the River Road, Peru, died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2004, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Dornburg, Germany, May 12, 1911, the daughter of Otto and Hedwig (Wambach) Christ.

She graduated from the Nursing/Midwife School at the University of Jena in Germany.

Johanne was the supervisor in the maternity ward in the Holy Ghost Hospital in Frankfurt, Germany, and retired following 17 years as a midwife at the Jackson Hospital in Montgomery, Ala.

She enjoyed sewing, reading and crafts, and especially enjoyed making children's clothing for RSVP.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Helga V. and Elmer "Les" Bradford of Peru; two granddaughters and their spouses, Janelle and John Michonski of Iowa Park, Texas, and Sonia and Douglas Hazelden of Bloomingdale; a granddaughter, Emilee Hazelden; and a grandson, Bradford Hunt.

She was predeceased by her parents; and husband, Fritz Roland Boehm in 1951.

A memorial service will be held in December 2004 at the Peru Community Church at a time and day to be announced.

Burial will be in the spring in God's Acre Cemetery in Peru.

Donations in her memory may be made to the Peru Community Church Sunday School Program.

Arrangements are by the Hamilton Funeral Home in Peru.

Carroll B. Cook, 81, a lifetime resident of Chasm Road, Chateaugay, died at home on Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2004, while in the care of his family and Hospice of the North Country.

Arrangements are incomplete through the Chateaugay Funeral Home and will be announced at a later date.

Real Legault, 79, of Fort Covington Street, Malone, died unexpectedly, Monday evening, Oct. 11, 2004, at the Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone.

He was born in St. Louis de Gonzague, Quebec, on June 13, 1925, the son of the late Narcisse and Emma Beaulieu Legault.

There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, Malone. Burial will be in the parish cemetery on Lake Titus Road, Malone. Arrangements are through the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Service of Malone.

Lester Sweatt, 85, died Monday, Oct. 11, 2004.

He was born in Cornwall, Vt., Nov. 4, 1918, the son of John and Mary (Davis) Sweatt. There will be a memorial service Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Essex Community United Methodist Church.

An obituary will be in tomorrow's newspaper. Huestis Funeral Home in Willsboro is in charge of arrangements.
