E. Kenneth "Ken" Tusa

Beekmantown — Mr. E. Kenneth "Ken" Tusa, 74, of Stony Acres Drive, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2004, at the CVPH Medical Center.

He was born in West Chazy, N.Y., on July 4, 1930, the son of Richard and Agnes (Ashline) Tusa.

Ken retired from the Press-Republican after 40 years of service as Composing Room Foreman. He was a musician for many years playing bass violin in many area clubs. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and in his latest years he enjoyed playing golf.

He was a member of St. Joseph’s Church, West Chazy.

Ken was predeceased by his parents, Richard and Agnes Tusa.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Florence (Corcoran) Tusa of West Chazy; two sons, Wayne Tusa of New York City and Harley Tusa and his wife Lynn of Stamford, Conn., and their son Zachary; two daughters, Dawn Tusa-Palmer and her husband Dr. George Palmer of Beekmantown and their children, Crystal, Gregory, Glenn and Timothy and Karen Tusa of Latham and her son Matthew; his siblings, Joseph Richard Toussaint of Fruitland Park, Fla., Fred Tusa and his wife Helen of Plattsburgh, Mrs. Dorothy Giroux of Fruitland Park, Fla., and Ralph Tusa of Fruitland Park, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday from St. Joseph’s Church, West Chazy.

Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.

Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the charity of one’s choice.

Patricia "Pat" Ann Taylor Lareau

PLATTSBURGH — Patricia "Pat" Ann Taylor Lareau, 72, of Sorrell Avenue, died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004, at the CVPH Medical Center.

She was born in Cadyville on Feb. 10, 1932, the daughter of Thomas and Margaret (Gero) Liberty.

Patricia married James Lareau on April 19, 2000.

Mrs. Lareau was a member of St. Joseph’s Church and was a volunteer at bingo for several years. Pat was "MOM" to every youngster on upper Rugar Street and her home was open to everyone in Treadwells Mills.

Mrs. Lareau was a home health care provider for many years and previously worked for Montgomery Wards.

Survivors include her husband, James Lareau of Plattsburgh; children, George and Rita Taylor of Plattsburgh, Gary and Candy Taylor of Peru, Brenda Moore of Plattsburgh, Ronald Taylor of Plattsburgh, Dennis and Crystal Taylor of Plattsburgh, Jack and Debbie Taylor of West Chazy, Ricky Taylor and companion Becky Tenney of West Palm Beach, Fla., Sandy and Dave Douglas of Plattsburgh and Cindy and Larry Arno of Malone; two sisters, Betty Duval of Plattsburgh and Barbara and Carl Bradley of Morrisonville; one brother, Larry and Lettie Liberty of Plattsburgh; one sister-in-law, Joan Liberty of Fort Edward, N.Y.; one brother-in-law, Harvey Blanchard of Plattsburgh; 17 grandchildren, Laurie and Corbett Cerda, Scott Taylor and companion Jessie Blake, James Taylor and companion Ralph Duell, Jason and Nicole Taylor, Teri Lynn Bourdeau, Ronald Taylor Jr. and companion Kristen Belrose, Travis Taylor and companion Stormy LaFountain, Brandy Taylor and companion Sam Thornton, Tiffany Taylor and companion Philip Van Nortwick, Erick Taylor and companion Julie Stieber, both in the U.S. Navy, Jessica Taylor and companion Randy Facteau, Justin Taylor, Darrick Taylor, Trista Taylor, Beth and Andy Darrah, David Douglas and companion Stacy Frederick and Philip Tousignant; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her first husband, George Taylor, in 1981; one daughter-in-law, Jill Taylor; one brother, Jack Liberty in 1999; a grandson, Daniel Moore; and a sister-in-law, Verlie (Lareau) Blanchard on Sept. 7, 2004.

Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph’s Church in Treadwells Mills.

Burial will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery in Plattsburgh.

Bjarne S. Olsen

Hague — Bjarne S. Olsen of Indian Kettles and Brooklyn, N.Y., passed away Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004, at the Moses-Ludington Hospital of Ticonderoga.

He was born in Arendal, Norway, on Sept. 15, 1915, the son of Thomas and Asta Olsen and came to this country at the age of 5.

Mr. Olsen was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II.

He was a retired executive of the overseas operations of General Motors in New York City.

He was an avid fisherman, bowler, golfer and a tournament class table tennis player. Known to his family and friends for his gentle wit and impeccable manners, he was nicknamed "Gentleman John."

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Vivian Olsen of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and his two sons and their families, Robert Olsen and daughter Erica of Brooklyn and Steven and Diane Olsen and their children, Peter, John and Laura of Crown Point and Steven Jr. and Lena Olsen of Green Brook, N.J.; and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Saturday at the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home of Ticonderoga.

A funeral service will follow at 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Russell Bissell will officiate.

Valeda T. LeClair

Queensbury/Keeseville — Valeda T. LeClair, 93, a longtime resident of Queensbury, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004, at Meadowbrook Nursing Home in Plattsburgh, N.Y.

Born on July 7, 1911, in Keeseville, N.Y., she was the daughter of Alfred H. and Georgiana (Frazier) Tellier.

Valeda was a communicant of Our Lady of the Annunciation Church in Queensbury.

She was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents, Valeda was predeceased by her husband, Robert E. LeClair, in 1999; a daughter, Roberta Fredenburg in 2003; brothers Omer Tellier, Herman Tellier and Arthur Tellier; and a sister Geraldine Tellier.

Survivors include her children, Constance Lacy and her husband Peter of Keeseville, Judith Earle and her husband Harold of Queensbury, Bernard LeClair and his wife Annette of Florida and her son-in-law, Ronald Fredenburg of Queensbury; 15 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; her brothers and sisters, Gerard Tellier and wife Velma of Whitehall, Maurice Tellier and wife Linda of Peru, Ronald Tellier and wife Mary of Queensbury, Gladys Bombard of Keeseville, Joan Rock of Port Kent and Jan Warren of North Carolina; and her sisters-in-law, Louise LeClair of Queensbury, Ruth Tellier of Connecticut and Joyce Tellier of Keeseville.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of the Annunciation Church, Aviation Road, Queensbury.

Burial will follow at Pine View Cemetery.

Family and friends are invited and may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Regan & Denny Funeral Home, 53 Quaker Road, Queensbury.

Those who wish may send a donation in her memory to their favorite charity.

Karen "Margaret" Arnesen

Richmond, Va. — Karen "Margaret" Arnesen, 89, died Monday, Oct. 4, 2004, at her home in Richmond, Va.

Formerly a longtime resident of Merrill, N.Y., Margaret was born in Norway on Feb. 23, 1915, to Peter and Gunda Nielson. Her family immigrated to the United States when she was a young girl, where she later met and married Reidar Arnesen on Sept. 19, 1942.

He survives, along with their three sons, Richard and his wife Georgieanna of Richmond, Va., Ralph and his wife Sarah of England, and Christopher and his wife Diane of Merrill, N.Y. Also surviving are seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her only sibling, Mrs. Marie Dooley of Tom’s River, N.J., earlier this year.

Margaret worked as a hairdresser before devoting herself to a full-time career of wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker, which all revolved around some extensive travel here and abroad, due to her husband’s career with Caltex Oil.

She was also a dedicated and long-standing member of the Eastern Star, Mt. Herman Chapter 653.

Memorial services will be held on Friday at the Discovery Methodist Church in Richmond, Va., and on Sunday at the United Methodist Church in Lyon Mountain, N.Y., at noon.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lyon Mountain Fire Department.

Dorothy M. Looby, 81, of Lake Pointe Landing, Hendersonville, N.C., died Aug. 20, 2004, at Pardee Memorial Hospital.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Cemetery, Churubusco, with Rev. John Demo of St. Patrick’s Church, Chateaugay, officiating.

Local arrangements are through the Chateaugay Funeral Home.

Anthony G. Debrosky, 68, of Silver Lake Road in Saranac died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2004, at his home.

He was born in Kingston on Sept. 12, 1936, son of the late Anthony V. and Mae (Dietrich) Debrowsky.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville.

Arrangements are by the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh.

Mark E. Ormiston, formerly of Elizabethtown, died Oct. 1, 2004, in St. Petersburg, Fla.

He was born Dec. 17, 1938, in Goshen, N.Y., the son of the late Edwin and Ione Ormiston.

A memorial service will be held at The Church of the Good Shepherd in Elizabethtown at 2 p.m. Saturday.

Daniel A. Scott, 79, of Seymour Road, Chateaugay, died Oct. 5, 2004, at CVPH Medical Center, Plattsburgh.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Chateaugay Funeral Home chapel with Kevin Chancy presiding.
