Published: 10/30/04Leo Paul MatottChamplain — Leo Paul Matott, 82, of McBride Road, Champlain, passed away Friday, Oct. 1, 2004, at the CVPH Medical Center with his family by his side. He was born in Champlain, N.Y., on Oct. 5, 1921, son of Joseph and Rose Margaret (Pelletier) Matott. Leo, affectionately known as Pépère, attended school in Champlain and was the owner of a dairy farm in Champlain. He had a great love of the outdoors and all animal species, wild and domesticated. His greatest pleasure was being with his loving family. He was known for his generous spirit. He is survived by his loving wife, Clara (Gokey), whom he married on April 29, 1944; his son, Paul Emile Matott of Champlain; his daughters, Edith Gadway and her husband Derrick of Champlain and Rose Margaret Matott of Mooers; his grandchildren, Leo Paul Matott and companion Nadine LaBelle of Champlain, Amy Rich and husband Jamie of Glens Falls and Jamie Matott of Champlain; his great-grandchildren, Seth Thomas LaBelle of Champlain, Michael Andrew Rich and Montana Rae Rich of Glens Falls. Leo was predeceased by his parents; his brothers, Orville, Clifford and Harold Matott and Lawrence Paquette; his sisters, Evelyn Yelle and Leita Abare; and a grandson, Travis Leo LeClair. Also surviving are his sisters-in-law, Katherine Matott, Celine Paquette, Alice Barcomb and husband Harold, Gloria Upton, Janette Matott, Wilhemina Moore and husband Theodore and Anna Upton. Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 3, 2004, at the Clark Funeral Home in Champlain. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, Oct. 4th, at 11 a.m. Donations in Leo's memory may be made to the H.K. Freedman Renal Center in Plattsburgh. |
