Published: 9/29/04Arthur L. "Chink" "Gabby" HayesWest Plattsburgh — Mr. Arthur L. "Chink" "Gabby" Hayes, 85, of Bradford Road, passed away Monday, Sept. 27, 2004, at CVPH Medical Center. He was born in Plattsburgh on March 30, 1919, the son of Victor and Maude (Rock) Hayes. Arthur had worked at Georgia Pacific Paper Mill, retiring after 36 years of service. He enjoyed hunting. Arthur was predeceased by his parents, Victor and Maude Hayes; his wife Margaret; his sisters, Dorothy Hayes and Elsie Trudo; his brothers, Charles, James "Jim", Alfred "Pat", Donald, Malcolm and Daniel. Arthur is survived by two daughters, Patricia and Marvin LaDuke of Plattsburgh and Mary and Clarence LaDuke of Plattsburgh; two sons, Arthur C. Hayes and his companion Donna Bodette of Plattsburgh and Joseph M. Hayes and his wife Laurie of Concord, N.H.; his companion, Gladys Jock of Plattsburgh; two sisters, Edna Trudeau of Plattsburgh and Elizabeth "Betty" Hayes of Duanesburg; his brothers, Roger Hayes and his companion Madge of Clifton Park and Oliver Hayes and his wife Augustine of Punta Gorda, Fla.; two sisters-in-law, Genevieve Hayes of Morrisonville and Mildred Hayes of Plattsburgh; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Thursday from St. Alexander’s Church, Morrisonville. Burial will follow in St. Alexander’s Cemetery. Sheila M. (Conners) ProvostMorrisonville — Sheila M. (Conners) Provost, 61, of River Street Heights, Morrisonville, died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2004, at her home under the care of her family and Hospice of the North Country. She was born in Plattsburgh, April 16, 1943, the daughter of William F. and Mary M. (Schofield) Conners. Sheila graduated from Peru Central School in 1961. She worked for Brooke and Irwin Insurance in Plattsburgh for 27 years. She was a former member of the Professional Insurance Women. She loved auto racing and reading and was an avid sports fan, especially the New England Patriots. Survivors include her husband, Ronald D. Provost, whom she married Oct. 13, 1962, at St. Patrick’s Church in Peru; a son and daughter-in-law, Lance Provost and Tanya Griffin of Massena; one daughter and son-in-law, Maureen Provost and Jeffery Connell; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard and Colleen Conners of Plattsburgh and Robert and Beverly Conners of Morrisonville; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents. Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Peru. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Alexander’s Church in Morrisonville with Rev. Joseph W. Elliot, pastor, celebrating. Burial will follow in St. Augustine’s Cemetery in Peru. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Peru Free Library or Hospice of the North Country. Donald F. DonovanShirley, Mass. — Donald F. Donovan, 68, of Chapel Street, died Monday, Sept. 27, 2004, at the Nashoba Valley Medical Center, Ayer, Mass. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Cornelia C. (Curran) Donovan; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Megan L. Donovan and Glen Mullaley of South Easton, Mass., and Kelly D. and Paul Mootos of Alfred, Maine, and Shannon M. Donovan of Jackson Heights, N.Y.; a brother, Henry A. Donovan of Salem, N.H.; a sister, Maureen Donovan of Methuen, Mass.; and two grandchildren, Matthew Donovan Mullaley and Emily Ann Mootos. Mr. Donovan was born in Methuen, Mass., on July 12, 1936, a son of Augustine and Maud (Chivall) Donovan and has resided in Shirley for the past 20 years. Prior to moving here, he resided for 20 years in Plattsburgh, N.Y. Mr. Donovan served his country in the U.S. Air Force, retiring in 1974 at the rank of master sergeant. Following his retirement from the Armed Forces, Mr. Donovan worked as a parts manager at the Filion-McGee RV Sales in Cadyville, N.Y. Upon his return to Shirley, he worked at the Camper’s Inn RV Sales, retiring in 1990. Mr. Donovan was a life member of the Pepperel Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3291 and a former member of the American Legion Post in Shirley. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 1st, at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 14 Phoenix St., Shirley. Burial will be in the Village Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 21 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701. Lora M. Edmonds, 87, died Friday, Sept. 24, 2004, at the Elizabethtown Community Hospital. She was born Aug. 16, 1917, the daughter of Verne and Annie (Coffey) Pratt. No calling hours will be held. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Keene Valley Congregational Church in Keene Valley. Interment will be in Norton Cemetery in Keene. A reception will follow at the Edmonds’ home at the corner of Market and Adirondack Streets in Keene Valley. Arrangements are with W.M. Marvin’s Sons Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. Fredrick Finley, 78, of Liberty Lane, Mineville, died Sunday, Sept. 26, 2004, at his home. He was born June 4, 1926, in Waltham, Mass., the son of Fredrick and Ethel (Ray) Finley.
