Published: 9/18/04Brian J. BoyeaELLENBURG DEPOT — Brian J. Boyea, 47, of Canaan Road, died Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. He was born on Oct. 14, 1956, in Plattsburgh, the son of Ivan J. and Evelyn (Benjamin) Boyea. Brian married the former Barbara Handschuh on Aug. 8, 1981, in St. Edmund's Church in Ellenburg. He recently retired in July of this year from the New York State Department of Corrections in Chateaugay after 25 years of service. Brian was currently in his 18th season as the coach of the Northern Adirondack Central School Girls Varsity Soccer Team; he previously coached the NAC JV Boys Basketball Team and also led numerous teams for the Ellenburg Youth Commission for several years. He also served as the soccer chairperson for the CVAC. Brian very much enjoyed helping people and especially children. He spent numerous hours teaching and coaching sports. Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Barbara of Ellenburg; one son, Christopher Burdash of Syracuse, N.Y.; two daughters, Elizabeth Boyea of Manhattan, N.Y., and Michelle Boyea of Ellenburg Depot; his mother, Evelyn Boyea of Ellenburg; five brothers and sisters-in-law, Jay and Kim Boyea of Champlain, Paul and Christine Boyea of Chateaugay, Kevin and Sheila Boyea of West Chazy, Mark and Cindy Boyea of Montclair, N.J., and Michael and Sheilah Boyea of Ellenburg; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Marlene and Vic Ovalle of Cadyville and Charlene and Bill Dewey of Plattsburgh; and several nieces and nephews. Brian was predeceased by one son, Aaron C. Boyea on July 20, 2003; his father, Ivan J. Boyea; and one brother, Rev. Ivan G. Boyea. Calling hours will be held from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday in St. Edmund's Catholic Church in Ellenburg, with the Rev. Joseph Wheelock officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to the Brian Boyea Memorial Scholarship Fund at Northern Adirondack Central School, c/o Barbara Boyea, P.O. Box 72, Ellenburg Depot, NY 12935. Brian was a wonderful and very special husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. He will be deeply missed. Rita M. LaForestMOOERS — Rita M. LaForest, 83, of 193 LaForest Rd., died Friday, Sept. 17, 2004, at her home. She was born in Mooers on Dec. 26, 1920, the daughter of William and Laura (Duprey) LaForest Sr. Rita was a member and communicant of St. Louis of France Church in Sciota and a former member of the Ladies Altar Rosary Society. Survivors include a brother, Wilfred LaForest and his wife Catherine; four nephews, Gary, Ansel, Melvin and Maxine LaForest; and four nieces, Loretta Duprey, Phyllis LaRoche, Linda Bell and her husband Maurice and Candie Lashway and her husband Stanley. Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday at St. Louis of France Church, followed by burial in the parish cemetery. Dora R. Tyler, 85, of Lake Shore Road, West Chazy, died Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004, at the Huguley Memorial Medical Center in Fort Worth, Texas. She was born in Ingraham, N.Y., on Dec. 18, 1918, the daughter of Jacob and Ethel (Ives) Reynolds. Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the First Presbyterian Church in Chazy. Burial will follow in Ingraham Cemetery.
