Pearl M. Buska

Plattsburgh — Pearl M. Buska, formerly of 155 Cornelia St., died Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004, at the Meadowbrook Healthcare Facility.

She was born in Ellenburg on Sept. 27, 1908, the daughter of Mose and Emma LaBarge.

She and her husband Edward started a printing business in 1955, known as E.J. Buska Printing Company at 155 Cornelia St., in Plattsburgh. This business continues to be in operation under the management of her longtime business associate, Kenneth LaMora. Prior to the printing business, Pearl was an elementary-school teacher.

Pearl was very active in church affairs and a longtime member of St. Peter’s Church.

Survivors include her longtime business associate and friend, Kenneth LaMora and his wife Kenna of Beekmantown; their daughter and son-in-law, Karra and Dennis Poupore; their daughter Karrisa; and two nieces, Rose Oliver and Lena Whalen, both of Plattsburgh.

She was predeceased by her husband, Edward; and her brother and sister-in-law, George and Mildred LaBarge.

Calling hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter’s Church in Plattsburgh.

Burial will follow in St. Edmund’s Cemetery in Ellenburg.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Peter’s Memorial Fund.

Nedra M. Barber

Plattsburgh — Nedra M. Barber, formerly of Keeseville, died peacefully at her home on Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2004, after a short illness.

Born on Feb. 23, 1921, in Wilmington, she was the daughter of Raymond and Elizabeth (Kerr) Shumway.

Nedra graduated from AuSable Forks High School in 1939. Over the years, she was a dedicated employee of Latourelle’s Store, Ausable Chasm and the Keeseville Grand Union.

Nedra married her beloved husband Clifford on Aug. 31, 1947. They made their home in Keeseville for many years. Clifford passed away on Aug. 1, 1996, after 49 years of marriage.

She was predeceased by sisters Betty Liedka and Lavina Bruce; and brothers Royal Shumway and Francis Shumway.

She is survived by her daughter Cherie of Plattsburgh, with whom she had lived for the past eight years; her son Terry and his wife Maureen of Fort Ann; and her beloved grandchildren, Melissa Barber of Lebanon, N.H., Colleen Barber of West Roxbury, Mass., and Patrick Barber of Fort Ann. She is also survived by her sister, Ruth Potter of Southington, Conn.; her brother Robert and his wife Irene of Keeseville; her sisters-in-law, Virginia Marsha, Frances Earle and Vivian Barber, all of Keeseville and Mary Shumway of Baltimore, Md.; many special nieces and nephews; and numerous close friends and relatives.

Nedra’s entire life was devoted to helping others. She spent many hours sitting by the bedside of those who were sick in the hospital and cheering those who were confined to nursing homes. A shining example of a true Christian, Nedra will always hold a special place in the hearts of all who knew her. Her greatest joy was her family and spending time with her grandchildren.

In keeping with Nedra’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Keeseville at noon on Saturday. Burial will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery in Keeseville.

In lieu of flowers, Nedra has asked that donations be sent to the Fort Ann Rescue Squad in Fort Ann, the Evergreen Cemetery Association of Keeseville, or Hospice of the North Country in Plattsburgh.

Robert J. Revoir

BURLINGTON — Robert J. Revoir, 69, of 186 Elm St., Malone, N.Y., died Monday, Sept. 13, 2004, at the Fletcher Allen Medical Center.

Born March 2, 1935, in Malone, N.Y., he was the son of Clifford and Cecille (Boyer) Revoir. He married Judy O’Reilly on March 18, 1967, in Yorktown Heights, N.Y. She survives.

In addition to his wife of 38 years, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Peter Wardle of Riegelsville, Pa; two sons, Brian Revoir of Princeton, N.J., and Capt. Robert Revoir, U.S. Marines, Carlsbad, Calif.; two grandchildren, Anthony Wardle and Suzanne Wardle of Riegelsville, Pa.; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Valerie Flynn of Malone, N.Y., Sharon and Frank Marino of Saratoga, N.Y., and Janine and Gil Paddock of Duane, N.Y.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Brian Paul Revoir, in infancy.

He lived most of his life in Malone, N.Y., and attended local schools. He graduated from Franklin Academy in 1953 and enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp in 1954. He was honorably discharged in 1957. He went on to attend Plattsburgh State University, earning his bachelor of science degree in 1960. Following graduation, he taught school in Brushton-Moira for four years; he then became employed in industry by NAPA. In 1968, he began teaching at Salmon River Central School and remained there until he retired in 1997. While at Salmon River Central, he coached football for several years.

He was a communicant of Notre Dame Church, longtime member of the Malone Lodge of Elks Lodge 1303 and the American Legion Post 219. He served as commander of the American Legion from 1984 to 1985 and in 1983 received the Legionnaire of the Year Award. He enjoyed fly-fishing, woodworking and cooking.

Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the St. Mary-Murphy Funeral Home Chapel. The American Legion will gather at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel for a memorial service.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday in Notre Dame Church with Rev. Jeddie Brooks concelebrating. The American Legion will form an honor guard at the church before the Mass.

Burial will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Lake Titus Road, with full military honors conducted by the American Legion-Veterans Firing Squad.

Funeral arrangements are through St. Mary-Murphy Funeral Home, Inc.

Rosemary Woodard, 76, of 368 Rte 122, Constable, N.Y., died Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004, at the Franklin County Nursing Home in Malone. She had been a resident there since March 2, 2001.

She was born in Norfolk, N.Y., on July 27, 1928, the daughter of the late Arthur and Agnes (Tebo) Curry.

Calling hours will be from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home in Malone, N.Y. A funeral service will be held at noon in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Tom Davis officiating. Burial will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Parishville, N.Y.

Cody R. VanValkenburg, 15-months-old, died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2004, at the Cincinnati Children's Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio.

He was born in Plattsburgh on May 16, 2003, son of Vicki VanValkenburg.

Calling hours will be from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Saturday at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. from Our Lady of Victory Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery in Plattsburgh.

Brian Boyea, 47, of Canaan Road, Ellenburg Depot, N.Y., died Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

Arrangements are incomplete at this time with the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.
