Francis Mose

DICKINSON CENTER — Funeral services for Francis Mose, 77, of Dickinson Center will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Ann’s Church in St. Regis Falls.

Friends may call at the Bassett Funeral Home in St. Regis Falls from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Dickinson Center.

Mr. Mose died Sunday, Sept. 5, 2004, at Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone.

He is survived by his wife, Leanne; his children, Greg Mose of Saranac Lake, Steven and Kelly Grimm of Dickinson Center, Dean "Scott" and Marianne Meacham of Moira, Brad and Nicole Meacham of St. Regis Falls, Patrick and Christine Martin of St. Regis Falls, Julie Mose and her companion, Robert Clark Jr. of St. Regis Falls and Laurie Mose of Troy; his sister, Eva Soliwoda of Peru; his brother, James and Barbara Mose of Peru; his brothers-in-law, Ralph "Babe" Blanchard of Saranac Lake and John MaKay of Roanoke, Va.; 14 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Mose was predeceased by three brothers, Edgar Mose, Leo Mose and Elmer Mose; and four sisters, Edith Mose, Dorothy MaKay, Isidore Mose and Mary Blanchard.

He was born on July 12, 1927, in Riverview, son of the late Frank and Helen Macy Mose.

He attended a one-room schoolhouse in Riverview and then went to the Academy of Salaaz at the Church of Assumption. He served with the U.S. Army, receiving an honorable discharge as a corporal. He married Leanne Day of Paul Smiths in Paul Smiths on Sept. 15, 1973.

Mr. Mose worked in the plumbing and heating field and built and operated the Red Mill Restaurant in Gabriels. He retired in 1977. He was known for his gardens and tested roses for the Jackson and Perkins Company. He was involved with Cornell Cooperative Extension in Franklin County and his group was known as the "master gardeners."

He was on the community committee for the planning of the new St. Regis Falls High School.

Donations in his memory can be made to Dickinson Center Volunteer Fire Department or the St. Regis Falls Fire Department and Rescue Squad.

William W. Guilbo Sr.

PLATTSBURGH — William W. Guilbo Sr., 64, of Plattsburgh, died Sunday, Sept. 5, 2004, at CVPH Medical Center.

He was born in Plattsburgh on Sept. 29, 1939, the son of William R. and Bertha (Douglas) Guilbo.

He married Cecelia R. Barnaby on Sept. 26, 1959, in St. Alexis’s Church in Jericho.

William worked for Diamond International as a forklift operator for 35 years. He enjoyed outdoor activities, including fishing and horseshoes.

Survivors include his wife, Cecelia; two sons, William Guilbo Jr. and his wife, Judy, of East Greenbush, and Barry Guilbo and his wife, Melissa, of Plattsburgh; three daughters, Robin Smith and her companion, Tim Doty of Peru, Anne Guilbo and Shirley Guilbo, both of Plattsburgh; and 10 grandchildren, Andrea, Katie, Chrisrina, Tasha, Amanda, Holly, Cassie, Ruth Marie, Amber and Jeff.

Also surviving are one brother, Terry Guilbo, and his wife, Linda, of Plattsburgh; five sisters and their husbands, Sandra and Maurice Bezio of Keeseville, Tina and Robert Way of Keeseville, Kathleen and Gordon Seymour of Plattsburgh, Betty and Bernie Jandreau of Peru and Joan and Richard Miller of Plattsburgh; and several nices and nephews.

A sister, Barbara Mason, died earlier.

Calling hours are from 3 to 7 p.m. today at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home. Funeral services are Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Peter’s Church. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

Reegan Shelton Cooley

KEESEVILLE — Reegan Shelton Cooley, 11 months old, of the Auger Lake Road, Keeseville, died Sunday, Sept. 5, 2004, at Fletcher Allen Healthcare Facility in Burlington, Vt.

Born Sept. 13, 2003, in Burlington, the infant son of Steven R. and Cora M. (Kusalonis) Cooley.

Survivors also include a sister, Tia Cooley of Keeseville; three half-brothers, Sean Hoehn of Keeseville and Conor and Logan Cooley, both of Plattsburgh; his maternal grandparents, Leo and Shirley Kusalonis of Keeseville; his paternal grandparents, William and Evelyn Cooley of Willsboro; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Donations in Reegan’s memory may be made to the Vermont Children’s Hospital.

Arrangements are by the Hamilton Funeral Home in Keeseville.

Judith A. Saari

BALLSTON SPA — Judith Ann Saari of Ballston Spa, N.Y., passed away Saturday, Sept. 4, 2004, while recovering from a brain aneurysm.

She was born July 26, 1946, in Saranac, the daughter of Florence (Ledwith) Collins and the late Edwin "Dutch" Collins.

Her son, Eric, lives in Saratoga Springs and her daughter, Vanessa, lives in Albany. Her siblings include two brothers, Gordon and Gary Collins, and a late sister, Donna (Collins) Payant. She has two nephews, Christopher and Jason; four nieces, Suzann, Jodi, Jill and Jamie; and her devoted pet and companion, Sir William London.

She graduated from Saranac Central High School and the Champlain Valley School of Nursing. Judy worked as a nurse for more than 12 years. Her life’s passion was seeking the truth about the murder of her sister, Donna. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family.

Judy will be buried in Independence Cemetery in Saranac. A service will be held at R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh on Saturday, Sept. 11, at 12:30 p.m. Viewing hours will be on the same day from 10 a.m. to noon.

Donations may be made in her name to the New York State Correctional Officers and Police Benevolent Association Inc., 102 Hackett Blvd., Albany, NY, 12209.

Anne M. Seymour

PLATTSBURGH — Anne M. Seymour, 51, of 2924 Military Turnpike died Monday, Sept. 6, 2004, at her home, surrounded by her family.

She was born in Plattsburgh on July 8, 1953, the daughter of Bernard and Rose (Bedard) Ducharme.

Anne married Terrence H. Seymour at St. Joseph’s Church in West Chazy on Nov. 17, 1973.

She was a member of St. Peter’s Church, a volunteer and Home Room Parent at St. Peter’s School, known affectionately as the "Campbell Soup Lady" and a bingo worker at Seton High School since 1993.

Anne was a former vice president and membership chairman of the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America, Vermont Chapter; a former member of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary in Mooers; and past vice president and treasurer of the Jet Set Square Dance Club at the former Plattsburgh Air Force Base.

During high school, she worked at Neisner Department Store in the Plattsburgh Plaza. She graduated from Beekmantown Centeral School in 1971 and worked for J.C. Penney’s Department Store, then on Margaret Street. After marrying Terry, they moved to Mooers where they lived for six years, and she worked at the Grand Union Grocery Store in Rouses Point. They then moved to Chazy, where she and Terry purchased and operated the Chazy Supermarket until moving to Plattsburgh in 1989. Anne then became assistant store manager for Rite-Aid Drug Store in Champlain for one year. In 2001, she became assistant department manager for customer service at Lowe’s Home Improvement Warehouse.

Survivors include her husband, Terry; three sons, Nicholas, Joseph and Adam Seymour, all of West Chazy; her mother, Rose Ducharme of West Chazy; three brothers, David Ducharme and his wife, Diane, of McKean, Pa., Jude Ducharme and his wife, Debie, of Brushton, and Edmund and his wife, Tracey, of Chazy; three sisters, Mary Beth Corron and her husband, Duane, of Winston-Salem, N.C., Joan Zoellner and her husband, Tom, of St. Albans, Vt. and Angela Bruette and her husband, Scott, of Beekmantown; her mother-in-law, Dorothey Seymour of Ingraham; two brothers-in-law, Ronald Seymour and his wife, Dolly, of Swanton, Vt. and Daniel Seymour and his wife, Pauline, of West Chazy; two sisters-in-law, Janice Leonard and her husband, Larry, of Florida and Brenda Goddeau and her husband, Kevin, of Plattsburgh; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Her father, Bernard Ducharme, died July 20, 2004.

Her little angel, baby Francis, died in 1980.

Calling hours will be Wednesday, Sept. 8, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Peter’s Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in West Chazy.

Donations in her memory may be made to Hospice of the North Country.

Edna R. Gokey

MALONE — Edna R. Gokey, 90, formerly of Beman Street, Malone, died Sunday, Sept. 5, 2004, at the Franklin County Nursing Home in Malone.

Born on Sept. 23, 1913, she was the daughter of Antoine and Roseanna (Charette) Gonyea.

She was married to Alfred J. Jokey on June 11, 1932, at Notre Dame Church in Malone by the Rev. Telesphore Champeore. He predeceased her on June 4, 1980.

Mrs. Gokey is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard "Joe" and Helen Gokey of Malone and Francis and Dawn Gokey of Malone; 14 grandchildren, including John, David, Brian and Steven Gokey, Robert Johnson, Craig Barney and Bobbi-Jean Terry; several great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her parents; two sons, Douglas and Roy Gokey; two daughters, Roseanne Johnson and Coralee Barney; three sisters, Louva Lamere, Lillian Gonyea and Evelyn Kerr; and four brothers, Roy, Ralph, Victor and Herman Gonyea.

Mrs. Gokey lived all her life in Malone and attended schools at Notre Dame and St. Joseph’s Academy. She was a member of Notre Dame Church in Malone and Notre Dame Altar and Rosary Society.

Family and close friends are invited from noon to 2 p.m. for private viewing hours at St. Mary-Murphy Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at St. Mary-Murphy Funeral Home on Tuesday, Sept. 7, at 2 p.m. Burial will take place at Notre Dame Cemetery.

Arrangements are with St. Mary-Murphy Funeral Home.

Martin G. Campbell

PLATTSBURGH — Martin G. Campbell, 87, formerly of the McCutcheon Road, died Sunday, Sept. 5, 2004, at Cedar Hedge Nursing Home.

He was born in Saranac on Feb. 2, 1917, the son of Perley and Edna (Jachobs) Campbell.

Martin was a member of the Church of Assumption, a former member of the Elks Lodge 621 in Plattsburgh, the Moose Lodge 421 in Oneida, Masonic Lodge in Long Lake and the Joint Welfare Union 106-545 of Syracuse and Albany. He was also a charter member of the American Legion Post 1618 in Saranac.

Martin worked for the Operating Engineers for 35 years and was a master mechanic and welder.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews.

Martin was predeceased by his first wife, Elizabeth Ahern Campbell; his second wife, Mildred Ritts Campbell; a brother, Francis Campbell, and sister-in-law, Ila Bryant Campbell.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A funeral service will be held at noon on Thursday, Sept. 9, at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home. Entombment will follow at Whispering Maples Memorial Gardens in Plattsburgh.

Donations in his memory may be made to the FitzPatrick Cancer Center or the Cardiac Care Center, both at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

LEONARD K. COOK, 72, of Chateaugay died Saturday, Sept. 4, 2004, at Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone.

Born in Chateaugay on Jan. 4, 1932, he was the son of Kenneth and Margaret (Knight) Cook. They predeceased him.

There will be no calling hours.

Military honors will be provided by the Chateaugay American Legion at 3 p.m. Friday at the Sandy Knoll Cemetery in Chateaugay.

Arrangements are with the Chateaugay Funeral Home.

FLORENCE B. WILLIAMS LaBUFF, 97, of 31 William St., Malone died Monday, Sept. 6, 2004, at the St. Regis Nursing Home in Massena.

Born in Lake Titus on Feb. 4, 1907, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Sarah (Eggsware) Williams.

Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home in Malone. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday at Notre Dame Church in Malone. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery.

DORIS M. LaVAIR, 60, of Tupper Lake died Sunday, Sept. 5, 2004, at Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 8, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Fortune-Keough-Rennell Funeral Home in Tupper Lake.

The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
