Anna I. Roberts

Brainardsville — Anna I. Roberts, 94, formerly of Brainardsville, died Thursday, Sept. 2, 2004, at Alice Hyde Nursing Home, Malone, N.Y., where she had been a patient since July 6, 2001.

Born in Bellmont, N.Y., on Feb. 8, 1910, she was the daughter of William and Jessie (Vincent) Reynolds.

She was married to Raymond Roberts in her parent's home in 1946 by Rev. Eva Pittenger. He predeceased her on March 30, 1967.

Mrs. Roberts is survived by a sister, Lois Light of Malone; several nieces and nephews, Noelle Foye of Brockton, Mass., Diane Gorman of Hilton Head, S.C., Ronald Reynolds of Farmington, N.Y., Joan Evans of Schenectady and Donna Angelone of Brainardsville.

Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her parents; and three brothers, Vincent, Myers (Buster) and Robert Reynolds.

Mrs. Roberts attended Brainardsville local school and graduated from Chateaugay High School. She attended Chateaugay Training Class for teaching and was employed for several years in different rural schools including North Burke, Brainardsville and the Shuttsville School at Chateaugay Lake. She aided her husband in the operation of the family dairy farm and also was employed as a cook at Tanager Lodge on Chateaugay Lake. Mrs. Roberts started the first 4-H in the Brainardsville area. She was a member of the Brainardsville United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women of Brainardsville and served as a member of the Board of Elections for the town of Bellmont for many years.

Calling hours will be Monday, Sept. 6, from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Chateaugay Funeral Home with funeral services at 3 p.m. with Rev. Eleanor Bellows of Brainardsville United Methodist Church officiating.

Burial will take place at Brainardsville Cemetery, Brainardsville.

Donations in her memory may be made to Brainardsville United Methodist Church, Alice Hyde Nursing Home Activity Fund or FitzPatrick Cancer Center, Plattsburgh.

Darlene M. Burke, 46, of 358 Coveytown Rd., Constable, N.Y., died Wednesday night, Sept. 1, 2004, at the Fletcher Allen Health Care Facility in Burlington, Vt., where she had been a patient for the past several days.

She was born in Carmel, N.Y., on Dec. 18, 1957, the daughter of Alfred and Mildred (Barrett) Smith.

There are no calling hours. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Shiloh Baptist Church in Malone with Pastor Francis E. Wood II officiating. Burial will be in the Maple Avenue Cemetery in Patterson, N.Y., on Friday at 3 p.m.

Arrangements are through the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Service, Inc. of Malone.
