Published: 8/24/04Doris Josephine NewhouseTamarac, Fla. — Doris Josephine (Hansbury) Newhouse of Tamarac, Fla., passed away on Aug. 21, 2004, at the age of 79 following her battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving husband of 62 years, Joseph Newhouse, and her loving family. Doris was born on Oct. 24, 1924, in Plattsburgh, N.Y., the daughter of Alexander and Mae (Cain) Hansbury. She was predeceased by her father; mother; brothers, Alfred (Pete), Floyd, Edward and Thomas Hansbury; sisters, Rita DeCarlo and infant sister, Evelyn of Plattsburgh. Doris is survived by her husband, Joseph Newhouse; three daughters and sons-in-law, Doris and Dr. John Del-zio of Boca Raton, Fla., Barbara and John Kitchen of Keeseville, N.Y., and Ivy and Leonard Abbadessa of Loxahatchee, Fla.; six grandchildren, Tammy (Del-Zio) and Stephen Moon of Florida, Julie (Kitchen) and Jeff Abeling of Vermont, Kara Kitchen-Glodgett and Forrest Glodgett of Vermont, Kathi Kitchen and fiancé Joseph Caruso of New York, Gina Abbadessa and fiancé Eric Borello of Florida and Emily Abbadessa of Florida; seven great-grandchildren, Stephen, Megan and John Moon, Sarah and Olivia Abeling and Wyatt and Kade Kitchen-Glodgett; a devoted niece (who was like a daughter) Marion Carron and husband Howard of Plattsburgh; two sisters-in-law, Evelyn Hansbury of Plattsburgh and Theresa Hansbury of West Chazy; several cherished nieces and nephews, as well as friends and neighbors during her 49 years in Plattsburgh and past 30 years in Tamarac, Fla. She previously worked at Sharrons, Fredericks, The Fashion Shop and Lippas in Plattsburgh and Super X Drug Store and Visual Graphics in Florida. She was a communicant of St. Peter’s Church of Plattsburgh, N.Y., and St. Malachy Catholic Church of Tamarac, Fla. Services will be held for family and friends at St. Malachy Catholic Church, Tamarac, Fla. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be sent to St. Jude’s Children Hospital Fund or Vitas Hospice, Miami, Fla. Vincent O. CrellerAlburg, VT. — Vincent O. Creller, 88, a lifelong Alburg resident died early Sunday morning, Aug. 22, 2004, in Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington. Born in Alburg Springs, Oct. 10, 1915, he was the son of the late Emery Benjamin and Una (Denison) Creller. He graduated from Swanton High School in the Class of 1932 and on Nov. 15, 1937, married the former Hazel LaBombard who predeceased him on Jan. 21, 1996. Vincent was associated with the Rutland Railroad until 1961 and then with the Napierville Junction Railroad until his retirement in 1978 for a total of 39 railroad years. He was 50 member of Columbus Lodge 11 Free and Accepted Masons in Alburg, a 40 year member of the United Transportation Union as well as a 29 year member of the American Association of Retired Persons. He will be remembered for his excellence in baseball especially during his years at Swanton High School. Vincent leaves his three sons and their wives, Retired Colonel Bruce and Judy Creller of San Antonio, Texas, Dean and Michelle Creller of Cocoa, Fla., and Kevin and Bonnie Creller of Alburg; his daughter, Venita McChesney and her special friend Harley Moulton of Champlain, N.Y.; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one niece. Besides his wife, Hazel; Vincent was predeceased by a daughter, Vanessa Creller on Nov. 23, 1998; and a sister, Doris Walsh. A funeral service will be held Thursday, Aug. 26, 2004, at 11 a.m. from the Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton. The Reverend Marcheta Townsend will officiate. Interment will follow in the Creller family lot in Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday evening, Aug. 25, 2004, from 6 to 9 p.m. Members of Columbus Lodge 11 will conduct A Ritualistic Service at 7 p.m. Gifts in Vincent’s memory may be made to the Alburg Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad, PO Box 223, Alburg, VT 05440 or to the American Diabetes Association, Vermont Affiliate, 77 Hegeman Avenue, Colchester, VT 05446. JACQUELYN LaPLANT, 67, of 180 Webster Street, Malone, N.Y., died Saturday, Aug. 21, 2004, at the Alice Hyde Medical Center. She was born Nov. 14, 1936, in Malone, N.Y., the daughter of John and Pearl Greenwood Meagan. There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2004, at 10 a.m. Notre Dame Church. Burial will take place in Notre Dame Cemetery.
