Published: 8/23/04Shirley A. CaronPLATTSBURGH — Shirley A. Caron, 82, of Plattsburgh, died Saturday, Aug. 21, 2004, at the Meadowbrook Healthcare Facility in Plattsburgh. She was born in Plattsburgh on Jan. 10, 1922, the daughter of Patrick and Bessie (Desso) Lapham. She was employed at Diamond International in Plattsburgh for 39 years and retired in 1984. She was a member of St. Alexander’s Church in Morrisonville. She is survived by two sons, Edmund J. Caron Jr. and his spouse, Darlene, of Keeseville and Leeward B. Caron and his wife, Geraldine, of Plattsburgh; a daughter, Cherry Caron of Plattsburgh; two brothers, Lloyd Lapham of Plattsburgh and Milton Lapham of Beekmantown; a sister, Christine Miner of Saranac; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Her husband, Edmund J. Caron Sr., died on Jan. 30, 1989. Two brothers, Leon and Norton Lapham, and two sisters, Marion Lapham and Amanda Tourangeau, also died earlier. Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the O’Neill-Redden-Drown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday from St. Alexander’s Church in Morrisonville. Interment will follow at Whispering Maples Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Plattsburgh. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. ROBERT A. TORRANCE, 95, of Broad Street, died Saturday, Aug. 21, 2004, at the Cedar Hedge Nursing Home in Rouses Point, where he had been a resident since April 3, 2004. He was born in Jay on Aug. 13, 1909, the son of Fred A. and Kathryn (Bissell) Torrance. There will be no calling hours. Graveside services will be held at a later date at Jay Central Cemetery in the family plot. Zaumetzer-Sprague Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. |
