Robert P. Dumas

Mooers — Robert P. Dumas, 65, of Mooers, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2004, at his residence surrounded by his family.

He was born in Mooers on Oct. 9, 1938, the son of Peter and Dora (Rabideau) Dumas.

He was a dairy farmer for many years and was a council member for the Town of Mooers. He was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Mooers where he attended regularly and was an usher, collection counter and a member of the parish council. He was a past Farm Bureau president and board member, a past president of the Independent Dairymen's Cooperative and board member, a past member and board member of the RCMA and a past member of the New England Dairy Promotion Board, Inc.

He loved tractor pulling, playing cards, listening and dancing to country music and traveling.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Gladys (Hadley) Dumas of Mooers; a daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Michael Willette of Mooers; two sons, Roy and his wife Rebecca Dumas of Atlanta, Ga., and Daniel and his wife Carrie Dumas of Mooers; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Catherine Mayo of West Chazy and Rita and Joseph Rock of San Diego, Calif.; his grandchildren, Joshua, Nicole, Evan, Adam, Darren and Ethan; and several nieces and nephews.

His parents; and a sister, Vezina Favreau, died before him.

Calling hours will be held on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the E.F. Drown Funeral Service in Mooers. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday from St. Joseph's Church in Mooers. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Mooers Fire Department or Hospice of the North Country.

Stephen Cerniglia

Greenacres, Fla. and Chazy Landing, N.Y. — Stephen Cerniglia, 82, of Greenacres, Fla., and Chazy Landing, N.Y., died suddenly on Aug. 13, 2004, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh, N.Y.

He was born on Feb. 27, 1922, in Manhattan, the son of Joseph Cerniglia and Anna DelPozzo and stepson of Gennaro lannarelli.

He married the love of his life, Josephine Fiore, in 1945 and she predeceased him in 2000. They were residents of Brooklyn and New Windsor, N.Y.

He is survived by his three children, JoAnna (Mark) DeCamp of Ann Arbor, Mich., Alice Cerniglia of Ann Arbor and Vincent (MaryEllen) Cerniglia of Pine Bush, N.Y.; five grandchildren, Christian (Susan) Cerniglia, Matthew (Lisa) DeCamp, Aaron DeCamp, Steffan Cerniglia and Sarah (Jared) Koesten; and a great-granddaughter, Nina Cerniglia; two sisters, Victoria (Joseph) Friere of Pine Bush and Clara (Livio) Galazzo of Pine Bush; many cousins, nieces and nephews and loyal friends.

A brother, Vincent, predeceased him.

He was a highly decorated veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in France and England. He was employed for many years as a civil engineer for the Sanitation Department of the City of New York. He retired to Greenacres where he was an active member of the American Legion and a member and president of the Board of Directors of the Chalets IV Homeowners Association.

Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery in Queens, N.Y., at a later date.

Donations in his memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Rodney Willard Fredenberg

Lincolnton, N.C. — Mr. Rodney Willard Fredenberg, 71, of 109 Hillcrest Dr., Lincolnton, N.C., died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2004, at Gaston Memorial Hospital.

His memorial service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Bess Chapel United Methodist Church, with Rev. Randi Godfrey officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.

Mr. Fredenberg was born on July 9, 1933, in Matamoras, Pa., to the late Robert and Rilla (Fisher) Fredenberg. He was a former terminal manager in the trucking industry and was retired from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years of service.

Survivors include his wife, Laurene (Kinch) Fredenberg of the home; one son, Richard Fredenberg of Harrison City, Pa.; two daughters, Lynda Fredenberg of Lincolnton, N.C., and Lori Thompson of Bath, N.H.; one brother, Robert Fredenberg of South Windson, Conn.; six grandchildren, Cheryl McKean, Christy Boyles, Michael Thompson, Corey Thompson, Kimberly Fredenberg and Sean Fredenberg; four great-grandchildren, Kyle McKean, Derek McKean, Christian Boyles and Carter Thompson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bess Chapel United Methodist Church Building Fund, 2741 NC Hwy 274, Cherryville, NC 28021.

Derek M. McGann

Mont Vernon, N.H. — Derek M. McGann, 35, resident of 11 South Main St., Mont Vernon, N.H., died Aug. 17, 2004, at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center, Nashua, N.H.

He was born in London, England, on Dec. 10, 1968, a son of Patrick J. and Patricia (Stewart) McGann of London, England.

Mr. McGann had been a resident of Mont Vernon, N.H., for the past four years and had formerly resided in London for many years.

He was a writer and author and had been employed by The Toadstool Bookshops in Milford for several years. Mr. McGann had a passion for wildlife and enjoyed movies, music and books.

He was a member of the U-DAWGS Soccer Team, formerly known as The Men In Black.

In addition to his parents, family members include his wife of five years, Paula J. Kienert of Mont Vernon, N.H.; a brother, Paul McGann of Leicester, England; two sisters, Tracy Smith and Kim Kane, both of London, England; his father-in-law and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Gerd Kienert of Morrisonville, N.Y.; a brother - in-law, Eric Kienert of Peru, N.Y.; his wife's grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Adolf Kienert of Albany, N.Y.; and four nieces and three nephews.

Memorial visiting hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm St., Milford, N.H. Burial will be in London, England.

The family requests that flowers be omitted.

Smith & Heald Funeral Home, Milford, is in charge of arrangements.

ROBERT E. BALDWIN SR., 71, of Dog Hill Road, Clintonville, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2004, at his home with hospice and his family by his side.

He was born June 1, 1933, in Jersey City, N.J., the son of Edward and Helen (Thorn) Baldwin.

Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Zaumetzer-Sprague Funeral Home, AuSable Forks. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Immaculate Conception Church, Keeseville. Burial will follow at St. Johns Cemetery, Keeseville, in the family plot.

John W. Calhoun, 79, of Rouses Point, died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2004, at the Cedar Hedge Nursing Home in Rouses Point. There will be calling hours from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday with a funeral service following at 11 a.m. at the Clark Funeral Home in Rouses Point. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery in Champlain.

Paul C. VanVranken, 64, of Becky Avenue, Tupper Lake, died at his home Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2004.

He was born in Tupper Lake on July 21, 1940, the son of Harvey and Lillian (Corneau) VanVranken.

A memorial Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Alphonsus Church. Paul's family will receive friends and community at the entrance of St. Alphonsus from 10 a.m. until the Mass begins. Graveside services will follow at St. Alphonsus Cemetery.

Arrangements are with the Richer Funeral Home, Tupper Lake.
