Roger M. Pratt

Port Henry — Roger M. Pratt, 78, of Stone Street, Port Henry, N.Y., died Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2004, at Elizabethtown Community Hospital, Elizabethtown, N.Y.

He was born in Port Henry on April 24, 1926, the son of Glenn and Ada (Randall) Pratt.

Roger was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served in World War II.

Together with his wife Alice, they owned and operated Bertrand Cleaners until their retirement. Roger enjoyed being at his camp on Lake Champlain and spending time with his family.

Survivors include two daughters, Linda Pratt and Sherry Pratt and her husband Bill; one son, Roger T. Pratt and his wife Denise, all of Port Henry; two grandchildren, Kelly (Pratt) Arnold and her husband Jim of Parkland, Fla., and Brandy (Pratt) Mitchell and her husband Dave of Glenville, N.Y.; six great-grandchildren, Connor and Logan Arnold, Anna Shea, Sadie, Emma Rose and Matthew David Mitchell; one stepgreat-grandchild, Nicole Mitchell; one brother, Robert Pratt of Glens Falls; and one sister, Rhoane Reeves of AuSable, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife Alice; two brothers, Randall and Richard Pratt; and one sister, Rachel Abair.

In honor of Roger's wishes, there will be no calling hours. Burial will be in the Union Cemetery on Aug. 21, 2004, at 11 a.m. with a graveside service.

Friends and family wishing to remember Roger may make contributions to the Animal Shelter, SPCA, Lake Shore Road, Westport, N.Y., in memory of Shilo, Chester and Magnum.

The Harland Funeral Home, Port Henry, is in charge of arrangements.

William L. Ladue

PLATTSBURGH — Dr. William L. Ladue, 87, of 31 Lorraine Street, Plattsburgh, died Sunday, Aug. 15, 2004, at the CVPH Medical Center.

He was born in Plattsburgh on March 13, 1917, the son of William H. and Alice E. (Hagar) Ladue.

He married the former Emily Watson in Plattsburgh in 1947.

Dr. Ladue was an early member of the Algonquin Chapter of the Adirondack Mountain Club, a member of the "Adirondack 46ers", a charter member of the Antique and Classic Boat Society and the Clinton County Historical Society.

He was an antique automobile enthusiast and enjoyed researching his family genealogy.

Dr. Ladue graduated from Plattsburgh High School in 1934, Union College in 1938, Albany Medical College in 1942 and interned at Vassar Brothers Hospital in Poughkeepsie.

He was a World War II Army Veteran serving in the Pacific Theatre as a Captain in the Medical Corps. He returned to Plattsburgh and started his family medical practice at 57 Court Street, where he faithfully served families in the area until retiring in 1994. He was also medical director at the Clinton County Nursing Home for over 25 years.

Survivors include his wife, Emily Ladue; three sons, Peter Ladue of Beekmantown, Stephen Ladue and his wife Beverly Wood of Cumberland Head and Winslow Ladue and his wife MaryAnne of Charlotte, Vt.; one daughter, Alice Tallon of Beekmantown; one sister, Ruth A. Ladue of Plattsburgh; one sister-in-law, Virginia Ladue of Plattsburgh; eight grandchildren, AliceElizabeth W. Ladue, Lauren Ladue, Cameron Ladue, Arlin Ladue, Caleb Ladue, Keturah Tallon, Liam Tallon and Johannah Tallon; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Robert Ladue and John Ladue.

Calling hours will be held for the convenience of the family. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Plattsburgh followed by private graveside services in Riverside Cemetery.

Donations in his memory, may be made to a charity of choice.

The R.W. Walker Funeral Home is handling the funeral arrangements.

Jordan Bruno Righi

Las Vegas, Nev. — Jordan Righi passed away Aug. 13, 2004, losing his battle with Parkinson's disease.

He was born in Plattsburgh, the son of Giordano and Laura (Thompson) Righi on July 20, 1931.

Leaving school in his senior year (1950) he joined the U.S. Army. He served during the Korean Conflict and earned his combat infantryman badge. In 1953, he married Patricia Joyal in AuSable Forks Holy Name St. Matthews Church.

After attending Plattsburgh State Teachers College for two years he decided to return to the military life joining the U.S. Air Force. Jordan had two tours in Vietnam during the Vietnam War. During his service career he was stationed in England, Spain, Japan, Turkey and Plattsburgh Air Force Base. After 28 years he retired as SMSGT at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, Nev.

He worked for the United Postal Service as a letter carrier from 1981 to retirement 1997.

Jordan was predeceased by his father, Giordano in 1996; and his wife, Patricia in 2000.

His survivors include his mother, Laura in Plattsburgh; a son, Jordan his wife Mindy and their sons, Michael and Daniel of California; three daughters and their husbands, Lisa and Don Jacobson with son, Andrew, Lori and Darin Heriford with son, Ted, and Deya and Phil Hawk, all of Las Vegas. Also surviving, in Plattsburgh, are a sister and her spouse, Laverne and Harold Hicks; and a brother and his spouse, Sal and Denise Righi. There are many nieces, nephews and grandnieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Aug. 27, 2004, at the Seventh Nevada Veterans Memorial Center at 10 a.m. The service will be followed by full military graveside honors.

Arthur R. Hurlburt

Ticonderoga — Arthur R. "Tuffy" Hurlburt, 63, of Wiley Street, passed away Monday, Aug. 16, 2004, at the Glens Falls Hospital.

Born in Ticonderoga, July 24, 1941, he was the son of the late Raymond and Altina (Bacon) Hurlburt.

Mr. Hurlburt was a lifetime resident of Ticonderoga and was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Cross of Ticonderoga.

He was employed by International Paper Company of Ticonderoga for many years and was a member of the Company's Quarter Century Club.

Mr. Hurlburt served on the Ticonderoga Fire Department for many years before becoming a member of the Ticonderoga Fire Police. He was also a member of the Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks 1494 of Ticonderoga.

He was predeceased by two infant sons.

Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Beverly (O'Dell) Hurlburt; one son, Paul Hurlburt Sr. and his wife Tammy of Troy; three brothers, Donald Hurlburt of Middlebury, Vt., Raymond Hurlburt of Ticonderoga and Terry Hurlburt of Schenectady; and two sisters, Edith Brown and Carol Fogg, both of Ticonderoga. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Paul Hurlburt Jr., Blair Elizabeth Hurlburt, Annette Marie Hurlburt, Amanda Catherine Hurlburt and Destiny Wood; and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home, 11 Algonkin Street, Ticonderoga. The Ticonderoga Elks will conduct a Lodge of Sorrow at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday evening at the funeral home. The Ticonderoga Fire Department will conduct a Ritualistic Service following the Elk's.

A Requiem Eucharistic Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, 10 a.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Cross of Ticonderoga. The Rev. Marjorie Floor, Rector, will officiate.

Interment will follow at the family plot of the Mt. Hope Cemetery of Ticonderoga.

Brian Ellsworth

South Carolina — Brian Ellsworth, 55, formerly of Willsboro died in South Carolina April 4, 2004, after a long illness.

He is survived by his parents Jean and Andrew Ellsworth of Florida; and his brother, Bruce of Tennessee.

Brian worked at the Willsboro Clarence Oliver Drive ARC before retiring to South Carolina.

A memorial service will be held at the Huestis Funeral Home in Willsboro, Aug. 18, 2004, at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Memorial Cemetery.

Valida A. Salons

TROY, N.Y. — Valida A. Salons, 79, born Sept. 15, 1924, went home Sunday on Aug. 15, 2004, the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, with our blessings.

She was the wife of the late Ignatz J. Salons and fiancée of the late Rudy Baltimore.

Valida was the mother of Amy L. Salons (Mike Kosty) of Mechanicville and the late Judith Mary Salons. Grandmother of Robert A. Brink II (Mandy) and Randy A. Brink (Sara). Great Grammy of Bobbie Jo Brink, Kenny and Caroline. Sister of the late Alfred Chartier (late Viola), late Richard Chartier (late Charlotte), late Ursula (Elsie) Chartier, late Marie Chartier, late Theresa Strock (late Peter), late Joseph Chartier (Rosemary), late Lawerance Chartier. Andrew Chartier (Madeline), Mildred (Lou) Bacon-Canam (late Arthur and Henry), Edward Chartier (Betty), Frederick Chartier (Beverly) James Chartier (Barbara) and William Chartier (Marie). Sister-in-law of Anna Saunders (Herman); also 58 nieces and nephews. Not to forget her four legged buddies Fric and Frac, Ginny, Gizmo and Jack.

Raised on a farm in Riverview, N.Y., she was daughter of the late Wilfred and Mary Caron Chartier, where she had helped with chores and the younger children. Widowed at a young age, she moved to Troy 45 years ago to be closer to her family. In her later years she bowled four times a week, played kismet, pinochle and solve crossword puzzles. For the past two years she would kick-back with a long neck "Bud" winning those games on her computer. I will miss you mom, we all will.

In lieu of flowers, everyone who know and loved her, as we did, have a drink to her, her peace of mind and no more pain.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, Aug. 19, 2004, at 11 a.m. at the Riverview Funeral Home, 218 Second Ave., Troy, N.Y. Relatives and friends are invited to attend and may call 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service.
