Published: 8/13/04Marjorie PouporePlattsburgh — Marjorie Poupore, 87, formerly of Plattsburgh and Churubusco, died Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2004, at Maplewood Manor in Ballston Spa. She was born in Dannemora on Dec. 20, 1916, the daughter of George and Carrie (Ero) Ashline. She was a waitress for over 40 years in the Plattsburgh and Malone areas. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Gail and John Waldmann of Glens Falls; two sons and daughters-in-law, Floyd and Jeanne Poupore of Charlotte, N.C., and Foster and Sherry Poupore of Fletcher, N.C.; her grandchildren, John and Anne Waldmann, Jill and Stephen Sexton, Jesse Waldmann, Michelle Poupore and Darren and Jill Poupore; two great-granddaughters, Jessica Sexton and Allie Grace Poupore; a sister, June Gibbs of Plattsburgh; a half-brother, Laverne Ashline of Greenfield Center, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews. Her husband, Emery O. Poupore, died on July 23, 1995. A daughter, Fredricka Poupore; a granddaughter, Denise Poupore; brothers Richard and Maynard Ashline; and a sister, Mildred Howart, also died earlier. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the E.F. Drown Funeral Service in Ellenburg Depot. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday from St. Joseph's Church in Dannemora. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. MacCallum, 77, of Rouses Point, died Thursday, Aug. 12, 2004, at CVPH Medical Center. He was born Aug. 30, 1926, the son of Warren James MacCallum and Vera Vousburgh Hoag MacCallum in Montreal, Quebec. They predeceased him. Mr. MacCallum served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was employed by the D&H Railroad in Rouses Point as a trainman/conductor. He was married to Theresa Rock. She survives. He was a member of Three Steeples United Methodist Church in Champlain, Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen, Rouses Point Sportsmen's Club, commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8722, five time commander of American Legion Post 912, St. Regis Falls Sportsmen's Club, Red Tavern Club, a charter member of Rouses Point 5-Pointers Club and 35 years as park watchman at Ross Park in Paul Smiths. Besides his wife Theresa, Mr. MacCallum is survived by one daughter, Penny Devost and her husband Dean of Rouses Point; three sons, James MacCallum of Rouses Point and his companion Jenn Fitts of Vermont, Gregory MacCallum of Rouses Point and Tim MacCallum and his wife Michelle of Mooers; one brother, Neil MacCallum of Rouses Point; two sisters, Fay Gregoire of Rouses Point and Jackie O'Brian of Rouses Point; three stepsons, Billy Lemieux and his wife Karen of Massachusetts, Michael Lemieux and his wife Linda of Rouses Point and Brian Lemieux and his wife Debbie of Champlain; and two stepdaughters, Kathy Guay and her husband Vinnie of Rouses Point and Alice Lemieux of Champlain. He is also survived by several grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by one brother, Robert MacCallum; his first wife, Barbara MacCallum; and a sister-in-law, Marion MacCallum. Calling hours will be Friday, Aug. 13th, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the M.B. Clark Funeral Home, 148 Lake St., Rouses Point. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 14th at 11 a.m. at Three Steeples United Methodist Church on Route 11 in Champlain. Burial will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery in Rouses Point. Clarence "Skip" McGeeRochester, N.Y. — Clarence A. "Skip" McGee, 59, of Rand Street, Rochester, formerly of Peru, died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2004, at the Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. He was born in Plattsburgh on March 5, 1945, the son of John and Mary (Dennett) McGee. After his graduation from Peru Central School, he served in the US. Navy. He recently retired from Eastman Kodak in Rochester where he was employed for 30 years. Skip spent his vacations returning to the Adirondacks he loved so much and was an avid collector of "American Eagle" paraphernalia. Survivors include his son Charles of Rochester; five brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Cassie, Peru, Thomas and Sandy, Rochester, Peter and Vickie, National City, Calif., Richard, Milton, Pa., and Gerald, Groton, Conn.; four sisters and one brother-in-law, Loretta Timmons, Peru, Rose, El Cajon, Calif., Nancy, Plattsburgh and Judy and Ken Wood, Tampa, Fla.; and also numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, two brothers, John "Bill" and Charles and a brother-in-law, Robert Timmons, predeceased him. There will be no public calling hours. A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family and burial will be in the St. Augustine's Cemetery in Peru. Donations may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are under the direction of the Hamilton Funeral Home in Peru. George Roberts Ambler Jr.Langhorne, Pa. — George Roberts Ambler Jr., 91, died at his home on Aug. 8, 2004. He was born in Langhorne and lived there his entire life except for his service during World War II. A graduate of the George School and Penn State University, he made his career with the Penn Mutual Life Insurance Company. He was founding member of the Langhorne Men’s Club and continued to participate in its activities. He and his late wife, Evelyn Stewart Ambler, traveled widely and enjoyed a long retirement in Langhorne and in their summer home in Rouses Point, N.Y. Commissioned as a lieutenant in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II, he commanded an LST and participated in the invasions of Sicily, Anzio and Normandy. He was decorated for his actions in the English Channel. He is survived by his brother, F. Marple Ambler of Cortland, N.Y.; sister Rachel Ambler, Langhorne; sons and daughters-in-law, John and Elizabeth Ambler of Atlanta, Ga., and Charles and Gloria Ambler of El Paso, Texas; and grandchildren, George, Andrew and Stewart Ambler of Atlanta and Peter Ambler of Washington, D.C., and Catherine Ambler of El Paso. A memorial service will be held according to the tradition of the Religious Society of Friends on Saturday, Aug. 28, 2004, at 3 p.m. at the Middletown Friends Meeting, 453 West Maple Ave., Langhorne, Pa. Loder Jr., "The Gov," 57, of Schuyler Falls, died on Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2004, at the Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital. Friends may call on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Baris Funeral Home, 87 W. Genesee St., in Clyde. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. Johns Church in Clyde, with the Rev. Jim Hewes officiating. Burial will be in St. Johns Cemetery. Michael was born on June 6, 1947, in Lyons, N.Y., the son of Michael A. and Pauline (Catholdi) Loder. He graduated from Clyde High School and was the lead guitarist for Crier and the Minutemen, a local Clyde band. Michael enjoyed cooking and was a chef for many restaurants in the Adirondack area and in Clyde. He was the bartender and manager for the Monopole for many years in Plattsburgh. He also managed many bands in the Plattsburgh area and was known as "The Gov". Michael was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He most recently was the head chef for the Officer’s Club at Osan Air Force Base in Korea. He is survived by his wife, Kim Sung Ja of Korea; his father, Michael A. (Dorotha) Loder Sr. of Clyde; a brother, Ronald (Diana) Loder of Clyde; a sister, Barbara (Tom) Caprilla of Clyde; three nieces, Tracy, Jessica and Serena; two nephews, Eric and Bret; one great-niece, Jenna; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family. He was predeceased by his mother, Pauline Loder, who died in 1973. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The American Cancer Society or St. Johns Catholic Church, 114 Sodus St., Clyde, NY 14433. Nancy Barlow, 70, of 16 Wheeler Ave., Vale Haven Adult Home, Malone, N.Y., died unexpectedly Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2004, at the Vale Haven Adult Home. She was born in Lyon Mountain, N.Y., on Feb. 25, 1934, the daughter of the late Ivan H. and Florence Lee (Jackson) Barlow. There are no calling hours. Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in the South Moriah Cemetery in South Moriah, N.Y. Arrangements are through the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Service, Inc. of Malone, N.Y. John F. "Jack" Connell, 79, of Connell Road, Keeseville, died accidentally Thursday, Aug. 12, 2004, at his home as the result of a fire. He was born in Keeseville, July 9, 1925, at the home where he died, the son of William and Elizabeth (Boyle) Connell. Calling hours will be held Sunday from 1 to 6 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Keeseville. Members of the Keeseville Elks Lodge will meet at the funeral home at 5:30 p.m. and members of the Keeseville Knights of Columbus will meet at 5:45 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church in Keeseville with Rev. Peter Riani, pastor of St. Elizabeth's Church in Elizabethtown and St. Philip Neri Church in Westport, celebrating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
