Ralph DeMacy

NAVARRE, Fla. — Ralph DeMacy, 84, of Navarre, Fla., passed away at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, Fla., Thursday, Aug. 5, 2004, at 7 p.m.

He was born in Port Chester, N.Y., on Dec. 19, 1919, the son of Ralph and Mabel (Bushy) DeMasi.

In 1941, he joined the army and served in World War II and the Korean War.

Mr. DeMacy worked as a lieutenant for the Harrison Police Department for 36 years and worked as a criminal investigator in White Plains for 12 years. Mr. DeMacy was a member of the Police Benevolent Association of Harrison, N.Y., West Point Retiring Committee and the Knights of Columbus.

Ralph is survived by his wife Grace (McLean) DeMacy of Navarre, Fla.; one son, Donal DeMacy of Wilmington; two daughters, Gail Kabrin and her husband, Joe, of Wilmington; Michele Inkel and her husband, Stephen, of Navarre, Fla.; one brother, Dean DeMasi and his wife, Ann, of Raleigh, N.C. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Friends are invited to call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Clark Funeral Home in Lake Placid. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday in Wilmington at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church. The Rev. Patrick Mundy will officiate. Burial will follow in Haselton Cemetery in Wilmington.

Scott C. Colby

AuSABLE FORKS/ CHAMPLAIN — Scott C. Colby, 93, of Meadow Lane, Champlain, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, July 25, 2004 at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

Scott was born March 27, 1911 in AuSable Forks, the son of Richard and Sarah (VanNorman) Colby. He was a loving, wonderful, thoughtful husband, father, brother and friend. Scott was supervisor for 44 years for the Department of Transportation in AuSable Forks and Champlain, retiring from Champlain.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Lila Bashaw Colby of Champlain, whom he married February 28, 1934 in AuSable Forks; two sons, Gary Colby of Florida and Bryon "Scottie" Colby of Mooers; three doaughters, Sharron Cumm of Keeseville, Donnie Colbie of Champlain and Deborah Moore of Albany; two sisters, Nina Joy of Elizabethrown and Sarah Chamberlain of Warrensburgh; 25 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren and numerous great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Scott was predeceased by a son, David Colby of Florida; a daughter, Ruth Colby Woodside of Clintonville; three sisters, Dora Wrisley, Thelma Smith, and Flo Delorm; and a brother, Glenn Colby.

Memorials to Scott may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

There were no calling hours. A memorial service for family and friends will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at the Zaumetzer-Sprague Funeral Home, AuSable Forks. Burial will follow in the family plot at Glenwood Cemetary, Champlain.

Dr. Robert H. Graves

PLATTSBURGH — Dr. Robert H. Graves, 86, of Point Au Roche Road, died Saturday, Aug. 7, 2004, at CVPH Medical Center.

He was born in Plattsburgh on March 28, 1918, the son of Frank B. Graves and Eva M. D’Allaire Graves.

Dr. Graves was a member of the Plattsburgh Elks Club, the Optimist Club and the American Dental Association. He was an avid fisherman and gardener and, in later years, was a gourmet cook.

Dr. Graves graduated from Plattsburgh High School, attended the University of Maine and graduated from the McGill University of Dentistry. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Following the war, he opened his dental practice in Plattsburgh, retiring in the early 1980’s.

He was predeceased by his wife, the former Carol L. Gilday; one son, Richard B. Graves; and his older brother, Donald Graves.

Survivors include one son, Robert H. Graves Jr. of Plattsburgh; one daughter, Leigh Cerone, and her husband, Philip, of Plattsburgh; a sister-in-law, Virginia Graves of Kennewack, Wash.; two nephews, Donald Graves, Jr. of Kennewack, Wash., and Robert Gilday of Raleigh, N.C.; a niece, Katie Simister of New Orleans, La.; and his companion of later years, Virginia Bleh Gross of Florida.

At the request of Dr. Graves, there will be no public calling hours or funeral service. Donations in his memory may be made to the charity of choice.

The R.W. Walker Funeral Home is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Michael J. Bliss

CALAIS, Vt. — Michael J. Bliss, 48, of Lightening Ridge Road, died Friday, Aug. 6, 2004 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center from injuries sustained at a race track in Claremont, N.H.

For the past four years, Mike worked at the races and shared his knowledge of fire and emergency medical service with others. We’ll all miss him but know he died while doing something he loved: working at the race track.

He was born Oct. 23, 1955 in Newport, R.I., the son of Josiah S. and Dorothy (Dunn) Bliss.

Mike was married to Rachael Berard on July 15, 1978 at Our Lady of Grace Church in Colchester, Vt.

He was a master electrician who, in addition to working with his father at J.S. Bliss and Son, continued the company as J.S. Bliss and Sons. He also worked for Grand Union, Adirondack Refrigeration, Quality Cooling. Mike worked for several years at Northstar Fireworks, a job he enjoyed so much he worked there for the past year as a full time employee.

Mike would tell you that he loved his family beyond everything else in his life. In addition to us, we also know he loved racing, setting up fireworks for the pleasure of others, camping and snowmobiling. Mike was a coach for Central Vermont little league, basketball and soccer. He was past president of East Montpelier Fire Dept. He currently was serving as the assistant chief and EMT for the East Montpelier Fire Dept.

Survivors include his wife, Rachael, Calais, Vt.; sons, Chad, Rutland, Cole and Cory, Calais, Vt.; sisters, Patricia Annis and husband George, Calais, Vt.; Janet Batchelder and husband, Peter, South Burlinton, Vt.; Carol Bliss, Montpelier, Vt.; Mary Varney and husband, Jim, Malone, N.Y.; Nancy Prescott and husband, John, Barre, Vt.; Jean Cadorette and husband Paul, Calais, Vt.

Mike is also survived by Rachael’s parents, Roland and Clairette Berard, Essex, N.Y.; and sisters and brothers, Becky Barber and husband Gil, Colchester, Vt.; Greg Berard and wife, Nancy, Milton, Vt.; Anne Mossey and husband, Chuck, Milton, Vt.; Mary Anne Corrow and husband, John, Plattsburgh, N.Y.; Steve Berard and wife, Laurie, Milton, Vt.; Rose Marie Ryea and husband, Lee, Milton, Vt.; Rolenda Corrow and husband, George, Essex, N.Y.; Coleen Berard, Fairfax, Va.; Jeff Berard, Essex, N.Y.; Angel Haag and husband, Andy, South Burlington, Vt.; many special godchildren, nieces, nephews, including Dan Berard who shared our home.

He is pre-deceased by his parents and brothers-in-law, Vincent Berard and Tommy Bushey.

Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Guare and Sons Funeral Home, 30 School Street, Montpelier, Vt.

Funeral Mass will be offered Wednesday at noon at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 16 Barre Street, Montpelier, Vt.

Lily Diane Duncan

PLATTSBURGH — Lily Diane Duncan, infant daughter of Brenda T. Williams and William Paul Duncan, passed away Friday, Aug. 6, 2004 at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

She is survived by her parents of Plattsburgh; maternal grandparents Diane McKinney and Tony Hernandez of Dade City, Fla.; maternal grandparent Darlene Duncan of Stanton, Ky. and Fred Duncan of Matamoras, Pa.; several aunts and uncles, Kimberly Williams and Jamie Lamb of Zephyr Hills, Fla., Steve and Tracey Taylor of Matamoras, Pa., Pamela Duncan and Faye Duncan of Stanton, Ky., Walter Lamb of Zephyr Hills, Fla., Scott Duncan and Greg Duncan of the Pocono’s, Pa., and several cousins.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2004 at the Mountain View Cemetery in Gabriel’s.

Arrangements are with the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.
