Published: 10/30/04Elizabeth L. HanlonChateaugay — Elizabeth L. Hanlon, "Betty", 86, of Church Street, Chateaugay, died Friday, July 30, 2004, at Cedar Hedge Nursing Home, Rouses Point, N.Y., where she had been a patient since July 21, 2004. Born in Chateaugay, N.Y., on July 28, 1918, she was the daughter of John and Rosa (Duffin) Lyons. She was married to Harold "Harry" Hanlon on Sept. 6, 1958, in St. Patrick’s Church, Chateaugay, by Rev. Don Gallagher. Mrs. Hanlon is survived by her husband of 45 years; and a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Lyons of Chateaugay, N.Y. She was predeceased by her parents; a brother, John "Jack" Lyons on Nov. 27, 2000; and a twin in infancy. Mrs. Hanlon graduated from Chateaugay High School and then attended Adirondack Business School. She was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church and a member of St. Patrick's Altar and Rosary Society. She was also a member of the Chateaugay American Legion Auxiliary. Calling hours will be held at the Chateaugay Funeral Home on Sunday, Aug. 1 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 2, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. John Demo of St. Patrick's Church officiating. Burial will take place at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Chateaugay. Donations in her memory may be made to Chateaugay Memorial Library or Chateaugay Fire Department. Elizabeth S. DensmoreTiconderoga — Elizabeth S. Densmore, 87, of Ticonderoga, passed away Saturday, July 31, 2004, at the Moses-Ludington Hospital of Ticonderoga. Born in Arcade, N.Y., on Sept. 22, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Alice (Howard) Smith. Mrs. Densmore received her bachelor of science in education with 36 hours library from the State Normal School, Geneseo, in 1940. She later continued her education and received her master of science in education from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh in 1963. She served as high school librarian for the Arcade Central School from 1940 until 1944 and then Ticonderoga Central School from 1944 until 1948. She was employed as a second grade elementary school teacher in Ticonderoga from 1961 until 1967. In 1967, she established the Ticonderoga Elementary School Library, selecting the core collection and presided as librarian from 1967 until 1979. Mrs. Densmore was appointed to the Board of Trustees of the Black Watch Memorial Library of Ticonderoga in 1948. From 1986 until 1994, she was a member of the Board of Trustees of the Ticonderoga Historical Society. She was a 50 year member of the Fort Ticonderoga Chapter 442, Order of the Eastern Star. She was also a member of many other organizations, including the Ticonderoga Historical Society, a R.S.V.P. Volunteer, the American Library Association, the Carillon Garden Club, Friends of Fort Ticonderoga, PRIDE of Ticonderoga and the New York State Retired Teachers Association. Survivors include three sons, Alan C. Densmore of Danbury, Conn., Warren L. Densmore of Media, Pa., and Graydon J. Densmore of Ticonderoga; and one daughter, Margaret Armstrong of Ticonderoga. She is also survived by six grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home, 11 Algonkin St., Ticonderoga. A funeral service will take place Tuesday, 10:30 a.m., at the funeral home. The Rev. Prudence Bertolino, pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Ticonderoga, will officiate. Donations in her memory may be made to the Black Watch Memorial Library Building Fund, 99 Montcalm St., Ticonderoga, NY 12883. Loretta H. BeemanTiconderoga — Loretta H. Beeman, 79, of Burgoyne Road, passed away Friday, July 30, 2004, at the Moses-Ludington Hospital of Ticonderoga. Born in Crown Point, Nov. 16, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Watson and Alice (Rogers) Woods. Mrs. Beeman was a graduate of Crown Point High School and was a lifetime resident of Crown Point and Ticonderoga. She was a member of the American Legion Post 224, Ladies Auxiliary of Ticonderoga. She was predeceased by her sister, Florence H. Hebert, on Nov. 7, 2003. Survivors include one son, Karlton L. Beeman of Greenville, Tenn.; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her companion of 25 years, Guy Clark of Ticonderoga. Relatives and friends may call Monday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home, 11 Algonkin St., Ticonderoga. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Interment will take place at the family plot of the White Church Cemetery of Crown Point. Carmen G. RascoeSCHUYLER FALLS — Carmen G. Rascoe, 75, of Amber Lane, died Friday, July 30, 2004, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. She was born on Nov. 3, 1928, in Plattsburgh, N.Y., the daughter of Charles and Mae (Laramie) Donah Sr. Carmen owned and operated the Pine Room Restaurant in Mascoutah, Ill., for over 10 years with her husband James. He died on Feb. 11, 1998. After she retired from the restaurant, they moved to Plattsburgh to be closer to their families. Carmen then became very active with the Foster Parent Association. She was a past president of the association and took much joy in being a foster mother for several children. She was an avid bingo player and loved crocheting, camping and spending time with her family. Carmen was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 309 in Schuyler Falls. Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law, Bonnie and Armond Frederick of Schuyler Falls, Rosanne Carter of' Martinez, Ga., and Glenda Rascoe and Wayne Brassard of Schuyler Falls; four grandchildren, Brandi Maynard and her husband Bryan, Sean Carter, Jennifer Patrie and her husband Nicholas and Melissa Frederick; four great-grandchildren, Dominic Caron, Jonathan Caron, Nicholas Haas-Patrie and Cameron Patrie; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one brother, Charles Donah Jr.; and four sisters, Lucie Donah, Bertha Parker, Ethel Johnson and Hazel Seymour. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, Aug. 1, 2004, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday at 1 p.m. in St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will follow in the Schuyler Falls Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to the American Heart Association. Mildred M. Peryea, 89, of Ellenburg Center, died Saturday, July 31, 2004, at the Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone. She was born in Ellenburg Center on April 24, 1915, the daughter of Gustus and Leah (Gauthier) LaClair. Calling hours will be Monday, Aug. 2, 2004, from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at the E.F. Drown Funeral Service in Ellenburg Depot. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. from St. Edmund's Church in Ellenburg. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Elsie R. "Tootsie" Ewing, 93, of Monty Street, Plattsburgh, passed away Saturday, July 31, 2004, at the CVPH Medical Center. Calling hours and funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh. |
