Lyle D. Litchfield

Willsboro — Lyle D. Litchfield, 72, of Pine Avenue, Willsboro, died Friday, July 23, 2004, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

He was born in Springfield, Vt., Nov. 21, 1931, the son of Glenn and Irene (Bingham) Litchfield.

Lyle owned and operated a farm in Shoreham, Vt., was fur trader and worked for the Valley Voice in Middlebury, Vt., and Denton Publications in Elizabethtown.

He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Essex.

Lyle enjoyed raccoon hunting, bowling and dancing, but his true joy in life were his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley (Viens) Litchfield of Willsboro, whom he married May 11, 1991, in Lewis; one daughter and son-in-law, Callie and Joseph Gagnon of North Chittenden, Vt.; three sons, Mark Litchfield of St. Albans, Vt., Shaun Litchfield of Bristol, Vt., and Robin Litchfield of Shoreham, Vt.; stepchildren and spouses, Kim and Alan Bean Sr. of Bridport, Vt., Gary and Cheri Reynolds of Westport, Laurie Reynolds of Plattsburgh, Robin and John Crandall of Wadhams, Debra and Michael Lynch of Westport, Jody and Peter Mercaldi of Champlain, Mark Reynolds of Champlain and Morris Jr. and Kathryn Reynolds of Altona; one sister, Eunice Cahill of Ludlow, Vt.; three brothers and one sister-in-law, Leon and Vicki Litchfield of Herford, Ariz., Roy Litchfield of Castleton, Vt., and Walter Litchfield of Reno, Nev.; one sister-in-law and her husband, Marie and Roger Bragg of Plattsburgh; 20 grandchildren; three great - grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; a brother, William Litchfield; and a grandson, Sgt. Alan Bean Jr., who died while serving his country in Iraq.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Westport. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at St. Philip Neri Church in Westport with Rev. Peter Riani, pastor, celebrating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

Donations in his memory may be made to the FitzPatrick Cancer Center in Plattsburgh.

Lillian D.L. Smith

Champlain — Lillian D.L. Smith, 64, of Champlain, passed away Friday, July 23, 2004, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

She was born Dec. 11, 1939, in Berlin, N.H., the daughter of the late Joseph Prosper Leandre LaRoche and Marie (Viau) LaRoche.

She enjoyed sewing and making crafts and donated them to the St. Mary's Bazaar. Her grandchildren were very important to her.

Her parents; several brothers and sisters; and her husband, Norville Smith, predeceased her.

Lillian is survived by one daughter, Jeannette Hoy and her companion Robert Joyal of Mocksville, N.C.; one brother, Joseph LaRoche of California; three sisters, Cecile LaRoche of New Hampshire, Millie LaRoche of New Hampshire and Doris Henry of New Hampshire; and five grandchildren, Jessica, Nickole, Stephanie, Candice and Christopher.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Church in Champlain.

Arrangements are with the Clark Funeral Home in Champlain.
