Kathleen Rose Pociluk

Gansevoort, N.Y. —Kathleen Rose Pociluk of Thunder Run, died Wednesday, July 21, 2004, after a long struggle with cancer. She was 46.

Born July 15, 1958, in Albany, she was a daughter of the late Stephen and Ann (Willig) Pociluk. A graduate of Shenendahoa High School, Kathy attended the University of Virginia and earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education. She then went on to SUNY Albany and graduated in 1982 with a Master of Science in Educational Psychology. Kathy first taught special education in Glens Falls and then in the Plattsburgh area from 1983 to 2000. After moving to Gansevoort in 2000, she became the learning and design manager for Fairpoint Communications. Kathy returned to special education, her passion, from 2001 to the present. She ended her career as the professional development specialist for W.S.W.H.E. BOCES/JMT SETRC. She enjoyed hiking, boating, camping, horseback riding and always had a deep sense of family.

She is survived by her daughter, Sarah Clifton of Seattle, Wash.; a son, Cory Clifton of Gansevoort; a stepdaughter, Pamela Clifton of Minneapolis, Minn.; three sisters, Cynthia Lammon of St. Louis, Mo., Carol Coffey of Boulder, Colo., and Diane Hale of Averill Park; and her devoted life partner, Dr. Ronald Loffredo of Saratoga Springs.

The family would like to extend their thanks to Dr. David Mastrianni for the flexible manner in which he allowed Kathy and Ron to fight her melanoma.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 26, 2004, at the family plot in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, 1389 Central Ave., Colonie, off of exit 2E on I-87. Those who wish to follow the family to the cemetery may meet at Kathy's home at 9 a.m. Monday.

Friends may call from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs (584-6373 or burkefuneralhome.com).

The family asks in lieu of flowers, donations may be given in her memory to the American Cancer Society, specifically to melanoma research, 260 Osborne Rd., Loudonville, NY 12211. (1-800-227-2345).

Anne M. "Nan" Broderick

Fort Edward, N.Y. — Anne M. "Nan" Broderick, 85, of Marion Street, Fort Edward, passed away Friday, July 23, 2004, at the Glens Falls Hospital.

She was born in Fort Edward on Nov. 9, 1918, the daughter of the late Peter and Margaret (Murray) McCurry.

Nan was a graduate of St. Mary's Academy and Mildred Elley Business School.

On Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28, 1942, she married Gerard "Gerry" Broderick at St. Joseph Church in Fort Edward.

Before her children were born, she was secretary at the Fort Edward High School. After raising her family, she provided transportation for special education students.

Nan loved golfing and was a long time member of the Tee Bird Golf Club. She also enjoyed playing bridge and was a member of the Glens Falls Bridge Club. She was a volunteer at the Red Cross, a member of the Glens Falls Hospital Guild, Fort Edward Branch, a member of the Fort Edward Little League Auxiliary and the George Satterlee Hose Co. Auxiliary.

Nan was a fun loving, outgoing person with many friends.

Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Gerard Broderick of Fort Edward; a daughter, Margaret Kesler and her husband Jerry of Arizona; three sons, James Murray Broderick and his wife Judy (Chamberlain) of Queensbury, Phillip Broderick and his wife Joanne of Peru, N.Y., and Dennis Broderick and his wife Janice of Reston, Va.; nine grandchildren, Chris and Katie Kesler of Arizona; Lisa Wichert of Arlington, Va., Kelly Broderick of Boston, Brian and Michael Broderick of Queensbury and Patrick, Kevin and Peter Broderick of Reston, Va.; a great-granddaughter, Lily Wichert of Arlington, Va.; many cousins; and a special friend, Helen Corbett.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, July 25th, at the M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 82 Broadway, Fort Edward. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 26th, at St. Joseph Church, Fort Edward, with the Rev. Joseph Dwoark, pastor, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to Prospect Child and Family Center, 133 Aviation Rd., Queensbury, NY 12804-1199.

William H. Siltz

Ogdensburg — William H. Siltz, 87, formerly of Plattsburgh, died Wednesday, July 21, 2004, at the Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center in Ogdensburg.

He was born in Saranac, N.Y., on Aug. 28, 1916, the son of the late Richard and Dora (Bell) Siltz.

William lived in Ogdensburg for many years and worked as a maintenance man and farmhand in the area.

He is survived by one sister, Gladys Kennedy of Plattsburgh, N.Y., and Campobello, S.C.; two nephews, Raymond LaBombard Jr. and his wife Donna of Plattsburgh and Gary LaBombard and his wife Linda of Piedmont, S.C.; six nieces, Mona Mayo of Scotia, N.Y., Jeanne Leagon of Morrisonville, N.Y., Rose McIver and her husband Ronald of Martinez, Ga., Colleen Tolbert of Lyon Mountain, N.Y., Holly Curtin and her husband Randy of Inman, S.C., and Lila Beaudet of Plattsburgh.

A brother, Thomas Siltz, died before him.

Calling hours will be Monday, July 26th, from noon to 2 p.m. at the O'Neill - Redden - Drown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. The funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Ken Davis officiating. Burial will take place in Riverside Cemetery following the funeral service.

Ruth M. Burkhart

Jacksonville, Fla. — Ruth M. Burkhart, formerly from Peru, N.Y., passed away on June 8, 2004, in Jacksonville, Fla. A graveside memorial service was held on June 16, 2004, with her family present. She was cremated and brought here to be buried with her husband.

Ruth was the daughter of Charles and Lola (Curtis) Cropsey.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Albert J. Burkhart; four brothers, Charles, Frank, George and Donald Cropsey; and three sisters, Helen Seales, Gladys Cropsey and Dorothy Cummins.

Ruth worked several jobs in her life, the last one at the Edison Mall in Fort Myers, Fla.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Dona and David S. Ross; her son Albert J. Burkhart, all of Plattsburgh and her son Roger M. Burkhart of Jacksonville, Fla.; seven grandchildren, David, Robin and Kelly Ross of Plattsburgh, Thomas Burkhart of Plattsburgh, Michael Smith, Roger Burkhart and Bobbi-Jo Fugitte of Florida; and nine great-grandchildren, Collin, Makalyn and Aubrey Ross of Plattsburgh, Michael and Matthew Smith, Austin Burkhart, Tyler, Shane and Joseph Fugitte of Florida.

Clifton Jennings Jr., 55, of Bridge Street, Plattsburgh, died Thursday, July 22, 2004, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

He was born in Atlanta, Ga., on Sept. 8, 1948, son of the late Clifton and Althea Jennings Sr.

Calling hours will be Monday, July 26th, from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Ptattsburgh. A funeral service will follow in the Brown Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Charleston, S.C.

Lillian D. L. Smith, 64, of Champlain, passed away Friday, July 23, 2004, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

She was born Dec. 11, 1939, in Berlin, N.H., the daughter of the late Joseph Prosper Leandre LaRoche and Marie (Viau) LaRoche.
