Published: 7/23/04Carrie M. BoyeaPLATTSBURGH — Carrie M. Boyea, 80, of Truman Avenue, died Wednesday, July 21, 2004, at CVPH Medical Center. She was born in Sciota, N.Y., on Dec. 18, 1923, the daughter of John Henry and Elizabeth (LaForest) Dupee. Mrs. Boyea was a member of St. Peter's Church. She married Donald V. Laramie in 1944 at St. John's Church in Plattsburgh. Mr. Laramie died in 1952. Mrs. Boyea worked at Champlain Valley Hospital for several years, then at the Vilas Home, returning to CVPH Medical Center, then to Plattsburgh State College, retiring in 1977 due to a injury. Survivors include a son, Donald A. Laramie of Plattsburgh; two daughters, Gail Bordeau of Rouses Point and Kim Haight and her husband Timothy of Seattle, Wash.; one brother, Ernest Dupee and his wife Lorraine of Westville, Mass.; two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Cardin of Champlain and Hazel Slattery and her husband John of North Tondawanda, N.Y.; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Along with her husband Donald, Carrie was predeceased in death by one son, Gerald A. Laramie, on Feb. 2, 2001. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, July 24, 2004, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A funeral service will follow at 11:30 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Entombment will then take place in Whispering Maples Memorial Gardens on the Tom Miller Road in Plattsburgh. Donations in her memory may be made to the American Heart Association. Vincent J. GromPlattsburgh — Mr. Vincent J. Grom, 90, of Smith Street, Plattsburgh, passed away Wednesday, July 21, 2004, at the CVPH Medical Center. He was born in New York City on July 13, 1914, the son of August and Margaret (O'Connell) Grom. Vincent was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He had coached Babe Ruth Baseball and worked for the Laborer's Local 186. He was a member of St. John's Church in Plattsburgh. Vincent is survived by his wife of 52 years, Veronica (Beaudin) Grom of Plattsburgh; his children, Carol Washington of Plattsburgh, August Grom and his wife Kathy of Plattsburgh and Vincent Grom and his wife Tammy of Plattsburgh; several grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. Calling hours will be Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 1 p.m. at St. John's Church. Interment will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. William H. Siltz, 88, formerly of Plattsburgh, died Wednesday, July 21, 2004. Calling hours will be Monday noon to 2 p.m. at the O'Neill-Redden-Drown Funeral Home with a service immediately following. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Plattsburgh. Leslie O. Cox died July 20, 2004, at Canton-Potsdam Hospital. He was born March 26, 1919, in Frost, Texas, the son of Leslie Allen and Ada Jo (Josie) (Ellington) Cox. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at the Church of the Assumption of Mary in Redford on Friday, July 23, 2004, at 1 p.m. with Rev. Francis Coryer officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery in Redford. Arrangements are with the Seymour Funeral Home in Potsdam. ANTHONY L. ALLEN, 52, of 4 County Road 38, Constable, N.Y., died July 22, 2004, at the Fletcher-Allen Health Facility. He was born Sept. 20, 1951, in Ft. Covington, N.Y., the son of Norman F. and Ruth Jock Allen Sr. Calling hours will be Friday, July 23, 2004, from 7 to 9 p.m. in the St. Mary - Murphy Funeral Home chapel. A funeral service will be held Saturday, July 24, 2004, at 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will take place in Morningside Cemetery. MEMORIAL SERVICEMARION H. MERROW, 84, formerly of Westport, N.Y., died Feb. 23, 2004, at her home in Allentown, Pa. Marion was born Dec. 27, 1919, in Burlington, Vt., the daughter of Edward and Lillian Holcomb of Westport, N.Y. A memorial service will be held on July 24, 2004, at 10 a.m. at the Westport Federated Church, Westport, N.Y. Hamilton Funeral Home is handling arrangements. |
