Thomas J. Nephew

WEST CHAZY — Thomas J. Nephew, 55, of Stratton Hill Road, died Monday, July 19, 2004, at the CVPH Medical Center.

He was born in Plattsburgh on Dec. 6, 1948, the son of Alex and Irene (LaValley) Nephew.

Mr. Nephew was a member of St. Joseph's Church in West Chazy.

He married Patricia Matott on Sept. 26, 1970, at St. Joseph's Church.

Thomas worked for Imperial Paper from 1972 until their closing in 1998. He then worked for Schoenbek from 1999 until present.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Nephew of West Chazy; one daughter, Laurie LaValley and her husband Heath of West Chazy; one son, Jamie Nephew and his wife Nicole of West Chazy; three grandchildren, Quiana, Jadyn and Trevor; his mother, Irene Nephew of Plattsburgh; two brothers, Jerry Nephew and his wife Donna of Plattsburgh and David Nephew and his wife Mary of Utica, N.Y.; three sisters, Joanne Mangum and her husband Jerry of Plattsburgh, Betty King of Plattsburgh and Diane Winters and her husband John of Chazy; and one sister-in-law, Beverly Nephew of Plattsburgh. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his father, Alex Nephew; and two brothers, Donald Nephew and Clarence Nephew.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday at 2 p.m. at St. Joseph's Church in West Chazy. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

Evelyn V. Fuller

Ticonderoga — Evelyn V. Fuller, 94, of Ticonderoga, passed away Wednesday, July 21, 2004, at the Interlakes Nursing Home in Ticonderoga.

She was born Oct. 22, 1909, in Port Henry, the daughter of the late Leo and Nora (Connors) Woods.

Mrs. Fuller was a resident of Ticonderoga for most of her life. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Ticonderoga and a 60 year member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Court of St. Mary's 794 of Ticonderoga.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Fuller was predeceased by her beloved husband, Claude Joseph Fuller on May 22, 1965; a son, Victor Fuller on May 12, 1999; a great-grandson, Frederick C. Fuller on Sept. 18, 1998; and a son-in-law, Bob LaTour on Feb. 8, 2000.

Mrs. Fuller is survived by a family who loved and adored her very much, three sons and three daughters-in-law, Claude (Rinky) Fuller, Fred and Sue Fuller, Leo and Jenny Fuller and Laura Fuller (wife of Victor), all of Ticonderoga; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Betty LaTour of Kissimmee, Fla., Mary and Jack Huestis of Ticonderoga and Flavia and Arnold Ross of Ticonderoga. She is also survived by 23 grandchildren; 51 great- grandchildren; and 11 great- great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

The family would at this time like to thank the staff at Interlakes Nursing Home for the excellent care, Evelyn received, while she lived her last days there. Thank you ever so much.

Relatives and friends may call Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home, 11 Algonkin St., Ticonderoga. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Ticonderoga. The Rev. William G. Muench, pastor, will officiate. The Rite of Committal will follow at the family plot of St. Mary's Parish Cemetery of Ticonderoga.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Mary's Catholic School, Amherst Avenue, Ticonderoga, NY 12883.

Leon W. Bechard

Plattsburgh — Mr. Leon W. Bechard of Cumberland Head Road, Plattsburgh passed away Tuesday, July 20, 2004, at the CVPH Medical Center.

He was born in Beekmantown, N.Y., the son of William and Marguerite (Denault) Bechard.

Leon was a graduate of Mount Assumption Institute and he attended St. Michael's College and Hillayers College in Hartford, Conn. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Navy receiving the Asiatic Pacific Medal with three stars, Good Conduct Medal, Presidential Unit Citation Medal, Victory Medal and Liberation of the Philippines Medal. He was a survivor of the USS St. Louis which was torpedoed in the Pacific where he was wounded in Guadal Canal.

Leon was employed as a watch maker and later was self employed as a real estate broker in Hartford, Conn. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Post 179, American Legion Post 20, The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 125, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Plattsburgh Lodge 621 and he was a member of St. Peter's Church.

Leon was an avid athlete playing baseball, basketball, football and hockey. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He was predeceased by his parents; and a daughter, Patricia.

Leon is survived by his sons, William Bechard and his wife June of East Windsor, Conn., and Robert Bechard and his wife Jeanne of West Hartford, Conn.; a daughter, Lorna Valitsky and her husband Joe of Plattsburgh; a brother, Hubert Bechard of Gulf Port, Miss.; a sister, Albina Fisher of Plattsburgh; six grandchildren; three great-grand-children; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. from St. Peter's Church. Interment will be Tuesday, July 27, 2004, at 1 p.m. at Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery in Bloomfield, Conn.

Members of the DAV, the VFW and the American Legion are asked to meet Friday at 7 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home for service. Members of the Elks are asked to meet Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home for services.

Keith R. Clark

Altona — Mr. Keith R. Clark, 82, of the Alder Bend Road, Altona passed away Tuesday, July 20, 2004, at the CVPH Medical Center.

He was born in Lyon Mountain, N.Y., on June 23, 1922, the son of Edward and Kathleen (Stone) Clark.

Keith was a graduate of Altona Central School.

He was an avid out of doors man. Keith was involved in politics serving as councilman, a supervisor for eight years and justice of the peace for ten years and he was one of the first firemen of the Altona Fire Department. He retired from Ayerest Labs in Rouses Point in 1988 after 18 years as a security guard. He was a great joke and storyteller. Keith always loved to make people laugh. He will be greatly missed by everyone.

Keith was predeceased by his parents; his first wife, Alice Clark; a son, Gregory John Clark; a daughter, Pamela-Jean Ann Clark; a brother, Francis Clark; three half brothers, Clayton, Leslie and Ben Rushford; and a brother-in-law, Gordon Stone.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Gilman Clark of Altona; his sons and daughters-in-law, Royce and Donna Clark of Mooers, Mark and Eunice Clark of Altona, Edward and Sheila Clark of Altona and Jeffrey and Dorothy Clark of Altona; his daughters and son-in-law, Mary and Ken Lagree Jr. of Mooers Forks and Patty LaBombard of Rouses Point; his stepchildren, James Gilman Jr. and his companion Ann Marie of Rouses Point, David Gilman and his companion Sondra of Altona, Joanne and Reggie Nephew of Altona, Cindy and Lyndon Brothers of West Chazy and Holly and Thomas Garrand of Altona; his half brothers and spouses, Carl and Veronica Rushford of Chazy, Douglas and Shirley Rushford of Plattsburgh and Gerald "Gerry" Rushford of Chazy; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Clarissa Stone of Plattsburgh and Ernestine and Neil Van Splinter of Plattsburgh; 27 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

At Keith's request there will be no calling hours. A memorial Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, July 28, 2004, at 6 p.m. at Holy Angels Church in Altona. Interment will follow in Holy Angels Cemetery.

Friends wishing may make donations to the Altona Fire Department and Rescue Squad.

Arrangements are by the Brown Funeral Home, Altona.

Herbert C. Stone Sr.

BEEKMANTOWN — Mr. Herbert C. Stone Sr., 77, of the Durand Road, Beekmantown passed away Monday, July 19, 2004, at the CVPH Medical Center.

He was born in Beekmantown, N.Y., on April 6, 1927, the son of Charles and Lena (Duprey) Stone.

Herbert was a veteran of Korea serving in the U.S. Army.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 20 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1466 Beekmantown.

Herbert enjoyed bowling, bingo, hunting, fishing and farming and being outdoors.

He was a member of St. Peter's Church.

Herbert was predeceased by his parents; a brother, Harold Stone; and a grandson, Jason.

Herbert is survived by his wife of 44 years, Eleanor (Collins) Stone of Beekmantown; his children, Dianna Desautels and her husband Michael of Batavia, N.Y., Herbert C. "Tim" Stone Jr. and his fiancee Sharmaine Duprey of Plattsburgh, Melissa Agnew and her husband Al of Plattsburgh, Michelle Codding and her husband Thomas of Columbia, S.C., and Shannon Stone and her husband Joseph of Altona; one brother, Clayton Stone and his wife Jean of Beekmantown; 14 grandchildren; four great-grand-children; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday at 1 p.m. from St. Peter's Church. Interment will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery. Members of the VFW and American Legion are asked to meet Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home for services.

JOANNE M. PERRY, 72, of Catherine Street, Malone, N.Y., died Wednesday, July 21, 2004, at the Alice Hyde Medical Center.

She was born July 25, 1931, in Malone, N.Y., the daughter of Joseph J. and Marjorie A. Marshall Perry.

There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday, July 26, 2004, at 10 a.m. in Notre Dame Church. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are through St. Mary-Murphy Funeral Home, Inc.
