Published: 10/30/04Sophie (O'Kusky) ColburnWitherbee/Whitesboro, N.Y. — Sophie Colburn, 89, of Witherbee and Whitesboro, N.Y., went to be with the Lord on July 16, 2004. Sophie passed from this world surrounded by her loving family at the home of her son. Sophie was born in Brandon, Vt., on May 29, 1915. In June 1933 she married Harold Colburn, with whom she shared a blessed union of 50 years until his passing on June 25, 1984. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, John and Joan (Gregory) Colburn of Whitesboro. Sophie was very close to her five grandchildren and their spouses, Patti and Michael Reile, John and Maria Colburn, Paul and Heidi Colburn, Mary and Bill Salisbury and Peter and Wendy Colburn. There are also nine great-grandchildren who loved their grandma Sophie very much. They are Eric and Jacob Reile, Colin and Nathan Salisbury, Danielle, Jason, Megan, Ryan and P.J Colburn. Sophie is also survived by her sisters, Jennie Fields, Regina Varno and Josephine Yelle; and her brothers, Carl and Constance O'Kusky; as well as many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Sunday, July 18, 2004, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Harland Funeral Home, Port Henry, N.Y. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday, July 19, 2004, at 10 a.m. at the Church of All Saints, Mineville, N.Y., with Monsignor John McAvoy officiating. Burial will follow in St. Peter & Paul Cemetery. MEMORIAL SERVICE Marion H. Merrow, 84, formerly of Westport, N.Y., died Feb. 23, 2004, at her home in Allentown, Pa. Marion was born Dec. 27, 1919, in Burlington, Vt., the daughter of Edward and Lillian Holcomb of Westport, N.Y. A memorial service will be held on July 24, 2004, at 10 a.m. at the Westport Federated Church, Westport, N.Y. Hamilton Funeral Home is handling arrangements. |
