Published: 7/14/04John P. KollerNorth Hudson, N.Y. — John P. Koller, age 80, died late Sunday afternoon, July 11, 2004, at his home at 8 Marsden Road, North Hudson, after an extended illness. John was born Oct. 30, 1923, in the Bronx, N.Y., son of the late John and Anna Polchinski Koller. John was predeceased by his wife, Nancy (Gunn) Koller, April 19, 2004; and his sister, June Marsden, July 7, 1990. John was a logging and building contractor in North Hudson for many years. He was the superintendent of highways for the Town of North Hudson for 10 years, a position from which he retired; he also was a town councilman for 8 years. John was the former owner of the J Bar E Motel in North Hudson. John was a decorated veteran of World War II having received 5 Bronze Stars while serving in the U.S. Army in the Asiatic-Pacific theater and the Philippine Liberation, as a member of the 842nd Aviation Engineers. He was a life member of BPO Elks Lodge 1494 Ticonderoga, a member of the F & A.M. Glendale Lodge 497 for many years and a Shriner. John was chairman of the North Hudson Republican Committee and a member of the Executive Committee of the Essex County Republican Committee for many years. John enjoyed the out of doors, hunting and fishing, and especially his German Shepherd dogs. John is survived by his children, Larry Koller of North Hudson, Joni Koller of Hudson Falls, Linda Decker of Schroon Lake, Barbara Romero of Shanghai, China, Katie McClure of Yorktown, Va., Joe Hemsing of Schenectady, Frank Hemsing of Middletown, Bob Hemsing of Argle and Tom Hemsing of Schroon Lake; a nephew, Michael Marsden of North Hudson; and 13 grandchildren. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, July 15, at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Schroon Lake, the Rev. Richard Sturtz, officiating, interment will follow at the North Hudson Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at the Edward L. Kelly Funeral Home, 1019 US Route 9., Schroon Lake, Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. The family suggests memorials take the form of donations to the North Hudson Fire Department or the Schroon Lake Emergency Squad. Arnold B. GonyoMooers — Arnold B. Gonyo, 72, died Sunday, July 11, 2004, at his residence. He was born in Mooers on Aug. 14, 1931, the son of Peter and Dorothy (Boulerice) Gonyo. He owned and operated Gonyo Farm Excavators for many years. He was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Mooers and was an usher for many years. He was a member of the Mooers Knights of Columbus 6136 and was a past Grand Knight. He was a member of the 4th degree Assembly and a past district deputy and was also an active member of the Mooers Zoning Board. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn (Lavoie) Gonyo of Mooers; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Tom and Christine Gonyo of Emmaus, Pa., and Tim Gonyo of Jackman, Maine; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Brenda and Dave Chevalier of Chazy, Linda Gonyo of Champlain, Debra and Jeff Winters of Mooers and Julie and Scott Blondo of Champlain; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Gerald and Shirley Gonyo of Mooers and Harry and Bonnie Gonyo of Mooers; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Margaret Monette of Mooers, Irene and Gerald Bushey of Utica and Patricia and Stanley Wood of Plattsburgh; 14 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. His parents and two brothers, Charles and Earl Gonyo, died earlier. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the E.F. Drown Funeral Service in Mooers. Members of Knights of Columbus Council 6136 are asked to meet at the funeral home at 5:30 p.m. for services. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Thursday from St. Joseph's Church in Mooers. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph's Church or the Mooers Rescue Squad. Shirley WrightSWASTIKA — Shirley Wright, 77, of Queensbury and formerly of Swastika and AuSable Forks, passed away into the arms of the Lord, Monday, July 12, 2004, at the Glens Falls Hospital. After a short illness. She was born Aug. 13, 1926, the daughter of Daphne Joy Ebeling, in Saranac Lake. She was a graduate of AuSable Forks Central Rural School. For many years she was employed at Tirolerland Restaurant. Shirley was a member of the AuSable Forks United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Shirley was always lending a helping hand to anyone in need. Survived by her husband, Gordon Wright, whom she married Oct. 4, 1947; a son and daughter-in-law, James and Rosa Wright of South Glens Falls; a daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Bernard Shambo of Pittsfield, Mass.; four grandchildren, Keith and his wife Kathy Wright, Tony Wright, Stephen Shambo and Megan Shambo; two great-grand-children, Katrina and Kristen Wright; a dear friend, Harrietta Shambo of Queensbury; several aunts; nieces; nephews; and cousins. Visitation hours will be Thursday, July 15, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Zaumetzer-Sprague Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Virginia Pierce, officiating. Burial will follow in the family plot at the Peasleeville Cemetery. Sarah A. MoodyROUSES POINT — Sarah A. Moody, 75, of Rouses Point and formerly of Largo, Fla., passed away Monday, July 12, 2004, at the CVPH Medical Center. She was born Feb. 3, 1929, in Chateaugay, N.Y., the daughter of the late Ralph F. and Alberta (Moulton) Moody. She was an avid Bingo player. Her parents; her husband, Leo Clukey; one son, Ronald Douglas; and two brothers, William Moody and Kenneth P. Moody, predeceased Sarah. Survivors include two sons, Stephen and Vickie Douglas of Rouses Point and Larry and Judy Douglas of North Hollywood, Calif.; one daughter, Margaret and Garvin Johnston of Chateauguay, Quebec; one brother, John M. Moody of St. Albans, Vt.; several grandchildren; and great-grandchildren; five stepchildren, Bill Clukey, Leo Clukey, Roy Clukey, Doreen Clukey and Philip Clukey. She was also very fond of her two stepdaughters-in-law, Branda and Bridgette. Calling hours will be Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Clark Funeral Home in Rouses Point. Ramona CereskePlattsburgh — Ramona Cereske, 60, of Dogwood Avenue, Plattsburgh, died Saturday, July 10, 2004, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. She was born in Mineville on Nov. 11, 1943, daughter of the late Walter and Pauline (Greeno) Dubuque. Ramona is survived by one daughter, Starlisa Fortin of Plattsburgh; two sons, Farris Cereske of Norfolk, Va., Patrick and Brinna Cereske of Fort Drum and presently serving in Iraq; four sisters and three brothers-in-laws, Lorraine and Rodney Parrotte of Plattsburgh, Faith and David Garrant of Plattsburgh, Linda and James LaDuke of West Chazy and Debbie Dubuque of Plattsburgh; four brothers and two sisters-in-law, Walter and Shirley Dubuque of Rouses Point, William Dubuque of Morrisonville, Robert and Dianne Dubuque of New Jersey and her twin Raymond Dubuque of Plattsburgh; and nine grandchildren, Raymond, Chantel, Cory, Andrew, Amanda, Michael, Damian, Chase and Brianna; and close friends, Joann and Kenneth David of Plattsburgh and Joseph and Lisa Goddeau of Plattsburgh. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the family. Joseph S. Stone, 27, of State Route 37, Malone, N.Y., died unexpectedly Monday, July 12, 2004, at the Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, N.Y. He was born in Casper, Wyo., on Oct. 16, 1976, the son of Karen Smith. Calling hours will be Thursday, July 15, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Cappiello-McKenzie and Cosgrove Funeral Home in Fort Covington. A funeral service will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at the Hogansburg United Methodist Church with the Rev. James E. Barnes II, officiating. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery in Malone. Debra E. Gilbow, 47, of State Route 122, Bruce, N.Y., died early Tuesday morning, July 13, 2004, at her home while under the loving care of her family and Hospice of the North Country, Inc. She was born in Potsdam, N.Y., on Aug. 28, 1956, the daughter of the late Bernard and Marjoram Dibble Glib. Calling hours will be Wednesday, July 14, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home in Malone. A funeral service will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Tom Advise, officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Parishville, N.Y. Susan S. Putnam of Port Henry died Sunday, July 11, 2004, at the Horace Nye Nursing Home, in Elizabethtown, N.Y. Funeral services for Susan will be conducted Wednesday, July 14, 2 p.m. at the Harland Funeral Home. FRED E. WOODS SR., 84, of Ivy Terrace, Tupper Lake, died Tuesday, July 13, 2004, at his home with care from his family and High Peaks Hospice. Born June 15, 1920, at Foresters’ Lodge at Coreys, he was the son of Ernest Harrison and Anna Libby (LaBarge) Woods. Calling hours will be held Wednesday, July 14, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Richer Funeral Home in Tupper Lake. A funeral Mass will be held Thursday, July 15, at 10 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Church. Burial with full military honors will follow at St. Alphonsus Cemetery. |
