Johanna E. Reinhold

ALTONA — Johanna E. Reinhold, 81, died Tuesday, July 6, 2004, at the Cedar Hedge Nursing Home in Rouses Point.

She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Nov. 25, 1922, the daughter of Samuel and Frances (Durkin) Rector.

Survivors include a daughter, Ellen KolffVan Oosterwyk and her husband Theodore of Altona; two sons, Eric Reinhold and his wife Marie of Smithtown, N.Y., and Robert Reinhold of Lake Mary, Fla.; a sister, Henrietta Corsi of Elizabethtown, Ky.; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Her husband, Eric Reinhold Sr., died June 1, 1994; a daughter, Karen Johnson; a daughter-in-law, Jeanne Reinhold, died earlier.

Funeral services will be Saturday, July 10, at 1 p.m. from the Mooers Forks United Methodist Church with the Rev. Al Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Calverton Cemetery on Long Island.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Johanna’s memory may be made to the Mooers United Methodist Church.

The E.F. Drown Funeral Service in Ellenburg Depot is in charge of arrangements.

Antionette T. Bertoli

Plattsburgh — Antionette T. Bertoli, 90, of Bridge Street, Plattsburgh, passed away on Tuesday, July 6, at CVPH Medical Center after a lengthy illness. She was born in Schenectady on Sept. 1, 1913, daughter of Erasma and Mattulina (Tasulo) Tiscione.

Antionette lived most of her life in Plattsburgh. She was a member of St. John’s Church in Plattsburgh.

Antionette enjoyed cooking and her family, she assisted her grandson in Anna Ricco’s Restaurant.

Antionette is survived by two children, Frank H. and Joyce Bertoli of Plattsburgh, Madaline and Albert Grupper of East Windsor, N.J.; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jennie Mastroianni of Clifton Park and Mary Rudisheim of Scotia; and several nieces and nephews.

Antionette was predeceased by her husband, Enrico "Henry" Bertoli; and her daughter, Elvira Bertoli.

Calling hours will be Thursday, July 8, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A funeral service will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. from Brown Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. J. Roger McGuinness officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Plattsburgh.

Edmund R. Merrifield Jr.

PLATTSBURGH — Edmund R. Merrifield Jr., 77, died on Tuesday, July 6, 2004, at CVPH Medical Center.

He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on March 19, 1927, the son of O. Edmund R. Merrifield and Wilhelmia (Hendrickson) Merrifield.

He served in the Civil Air Patrol in Rome, N.Y., in 1945.

He married Kathryn Granite in 1946. In 1953, he moved to Plattsburgh on Cumberland Head with his wife and two sons, Guy E. and G. Tracy.

Ed owned and operated Merrifield Auto Electric in Plattsburgh until he retired. He was an avid pilot and boater.

He was a member of the Plattsburgh Radio Aeromodelers Club, Mason Lodge 155 and a charter member of the Cumberland Head Fire Department. He is a past member of the Shriners, Coast Guard Auxiliary and the Elks Club. Ed is a member of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Plattsburgh.

He is survived by his wife, Kathryn; his son, Guy Merrifield and his wife Susan (Reid); his daughter, Ellen E. Hall and her husband M. Shaun Hall; his sister, Lillian M. (Merrifield) Hynes and her husband Martin Hynes of Latham, N.Y. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Scott and Tracy Merrifield and James, Erin and Carrie Hall; 3 nephews; one niece; grandnieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his son, G. Tracy Merrifield; his sister, Ethel (Merrifield) Ahrens and her husband Karl Ahrens; Michael Hynes, his nephew; and Kristin Hynes, his grandniece.

Calling hours will be held Friday, July 9, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home. A Masonic Ritualistic Service will be presented at the funeral home at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Plattsburgh.

Donations in his memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Charles R. Patenaude

Rouses Point — Charles R. Patenaude, 66, of Rouses Point passed away Sunday, July 4, 2004, at his home.

He was born Nov. 12, 1937, in St. Jean, Quebec, the son of the late Joseph Patenaude and Yvette Tougas.

He was a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus.

His parents predecease him.

Survivors include his wife, Rejeanne of Rouses Point; one son, Richard Patenaude and his wife Sylvie Gauthier of St-Michel, Quebec; one sister, Anita Patenaude and Andre St. Germain of St-Jean, Quebec; one sister-in-law, Ginette Charonneau and Clement Giard of Rougemont, Quebec; one grandson, Richard Kevin Patenaude; two nephews, Dennis and Daniel Charette and their wives; and four great-nephews.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick’s Church in Rouses Point. Burial will take place at a later date in St-Gregoire, Quebec.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the North Country.

Arrangements are with the Clark Funeral Home in Rouses Point.

Lillian Mary LaDieu

Reno, Nev. — Lillian Mary LaDieu, 88, passed away Tuesday, July 6, 2004, in Reno, Nev., after a long illness.

She previously lived in Keeseville, N.Y.

Lillian was preceded in death by her husband, Francis LaDieu on Aug. 12, 1990.

Lillian is survived by three sons, Robert, Francis and Richard, all of Plattsburgh; and a daughter, Marilyn of Reno, Nev.; a brother, Leo Trudeau; a sister,, Bernadette King, also of Plattsburgh; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and relatives.

She loved them all. We will all miss her zest for living and enthusiasm for all that life offered.

Lillian volunteered at the Sun Valley Senior Center in Nevada for 20 years.

A graveside ceremony will be held in Keeseville at St. John’s Cemetery for the family.

David Robert Parsons

SANTEE, S.C. — David Robert Parsons, 85, of 457 Santee Drive, Santee, S.C., died Wednesday morning at his home.

Memorial services will be announced by Avinger Funeral Home, Holly Hill, S.C.

Mr. Parsons was born in Albany, N.Y., a son of the late David Robert Parsons and Adeline Gallagher Parsons.

He was a member of the Washington First United Methodist Church, Washington, N.C., a member and former president of the Washington Lions Club, he served in the Navy as a Lieutenant during World War II.

Mr. Parsons was a graduate of Cortland State University, Cortland, N.Y., and received his masters degree from Columbia Teachers College, New York, N.Y. He was retired from public education and was a former Head Master of Clarendon Hall Academy, Summerton, S.C.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Vera DuBarry Parsons; a daughter, Jo Ann (G.Les) Aurand of Clifton Springs, N.Y.; a son, David Robert Parsons of Springfield, Ill.; two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Belser of Santee and Mrs. Betty Weaver of Gettysburg, Pa.; a granddaughter, Alison D’Aurizio of Naples, N.Y.; two stepgrandchildren, Lauren Ohmer of Springfield, Ill., and Christopher Ohmer of Savannah, Ga.; several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the home of Col. and Mrs. R.H. Belser Jr., 457 Santee Drive, Santee, S.C.

Memorials may be made to the Blind Center, 219 No. Harvey Street, Washington, NC 27889 or a charity of one’s choice.

Susan E. Knapp, of Alstead Hill Lane, Keene, N.Y., died Monday, July 5, 2004, at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake, N.Y.

Mrs. Knapp was born in Wilmington, N.Y., on Oct. 4, 1905, the daughter of Frederick and Fannie Lawrence Perkins.

There are no calling hours. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 10, at noon at the Reber Community Church, Reber, N.Y., Rev. Fred Shaw will officiate. Burial will follow in the Reber Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church starting at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday just prior to the service.

The Clark Funeral Home in Lake Placid is in charge of arrangements.
