Published: 7/7/04Bernard P. BechardChamplain — Bernard P. Bechard, 77, entered into eternal rest on July 6, 2004, in the company of his loving family. He died after a very long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Champlain on April 17, 1927, the son of the late Armand and Bertha (Filion) Bechard. He was also predeceased by three brothers and one sister-in-law, Maurice, Marcel, Octave and wife Gladys Bechard. Bernard was a veteran of the Korean War. He worked for General Dynamics during his early years and lived in Japan, Turkey and Germany for a period of time. He later worked for Nortel Networks, which he retired from in Houston, Texas. He then settled for his retirement in Aiken, S.C., where he could play golf year-round. He was an avid golfer and loved all sports in general. He is survived by two brothers, Angelo and Marie Bechard of Liverpool and Armand Bechard Jr. of Champlain; and five sisters, Theresa and Earnest Ducharme and Margaret Bechard both of Rouses Point, Hortense and Frank Boutin of Mooers Forks, Gertrude and Hubert Trombley of Champlain and Beatrice and Stanley Coupal of Buffalo, N.Y.; also two sisters-in-law, Wanda Bechard and Marie Bechard, both of Champlain. He was also survived by many loving nieces and nephews who acted as his surrogate children. Calling hours will be Wednesday, July 7, 2004, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Clark Funeral Home in Champlain and the funeral Mass will be held in St. Joseph’s in Coopersville at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 8. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery also in Coopersville. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the local Hospice organization. Rita M. StonePlattsburgh — Rita M. Stone, 84, of Bushey Boulevard, Plattsburgh passed away on Monday, July 5, 2004, at Evergreen Valley Nursing Home in Plattsburgh. She was born in Plattsburgh on April 16, 1920, daughter of Lyman and Ellen (LaTour) Connors. Rita is survived by five children, Oliver Stone Jr. and his wife Beverly of Plattsburgh, Robert Stone and his wife Marsha of Plattsburgh, Barbara Stone of Altona, Richard Stone and his wife Peggy of Cadyville and Randall Stone and his wife Rachel of Peru; a sister, Mrs. Marie Agnew of Plattsburgh; three brothers; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grand-children; and several nieces and nephews. Rita was predeceased by her husband, Oliver Stone Sr.; a son, Russell Stone; and a daughter, Linda Stone. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 8, 2004, at 10 a.m. from St. Peter's Cemetery in Plattsburgh with Rev. Jerry Bleaux, pastor of Our Lady of Victory Church officiating. Donations in her memory may be made to Alzheimer's Research at SUNY Plattsburgh. Arrangements with Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. Johanna E. ReinholdALTONA — Johanna E. Reinhold, 81, died Tuesday, July 6, 2004, at the Cedar Hedge Nursing Home in Rouses Point. She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Nov. 25, 1922, the daughter of Samuel and Frances (Durkin) Rector. Survivors include a daughter, Ellen KolffVan Osterwyk and her husband Theodore of Altona; two sons, Eric Reinhold and his wife Marie of Smithtown, N.Y., and Robert Reinhold of Lake Mary, Fla.; a sister, Henrietta Corsi of Elizabethtown, Ky.; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Her husband, Eric Reinhold Sr., died June 1, 1994; a daughter, Karen Johnson; a daughter-in-law, Jeanne Reinhold, died earlier. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 10, at 1 p.m. from the Mooers United Methodist Church with the Rev. Al Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Calverton Cemetery on Long Island. In lieu of flowers, donations in Johanna's memory may be made to the Mooers United Methodist Church. The E.F. Drown Funeral Service in Ellenburg Depot is in charge of arrangements. Antoinette Bertoli, 90, of Bridge Street, Plattsburgh, died Tuesday, July 6, 2004, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. She was born in Schenectady on Sept. 1, 1913, daughter of Erasma and Mattulina (Tasulo) Tiscione. Calling hours will be Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A funeral service will be Thursday at 1 p.m. with Rev. J. Roger McGuinness, pastor of St. John's Church in Plattsburgh officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Carmel Cemetery. EDMUND R. MERRIFIELD JR., 77, died Tuesday, July 6, 2004 at CVPH Medical Center. He was born in Brooklyn, March 18, 1927, the son of O. Edmund R. Merrifield and Wilhelmia (Hendrickson) Merrifield. Calling hours will be Friday, July 9, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the R. W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A funeral service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Plattsburgh. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Plattsburgh. |
