Published: 7/6/04George H. SchildgeCADYVILLE, N.Y. — George H. Schildge, 77, of Route 3, Cadyville, died Saturday, July 3, 2004, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh, N.Y. He was born in Oak Park, Ill., on Jan. 22, 1927, the son of George W. and Bernadine (Wheat) Schildge. George graduated from Culver Military School in Rochester, Ind. He then served in the U.S. Merchant Marine for 2 years and later in the U.S. Navy for 4 years. George married Sue Bradley in 1957, in Minneapolis, Minn. A chemical engineer, he received his bachelor of science at Clarkson University in Potsdam, N.Y. He came to Plattsburgh in 1958 to work for Vanity Fair Paper Mills, later Georgia Pacific. He retired in 1993 after 35 years. Survivors include his wife, Sue; three sons, George K. Schildge and his wife Sue of Fort Collins, Colo., Christopher Schildge of Cadyville and Scott and his wife Karen of Truckee, Calif.; four grandsons, Stefan and Devon of Fort Collins, Colo., and Mitchell and Ryan of Truckee, Calif.; and one sister, Bernadine and her husband Edward Stebbins of New Caanan, Conn.; a brother-in-law, William H. Bradley and his wife Nancy of Wausau, Wis.; and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours are on Friday, July 9, 2004, from 11 to 12 noon at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh followed by a memorial service at noon, with Pastor Michael San Soucie officiating. Noel Edward BeedePORT HENRY, NY — Noel Edward Beede died July 1, 2004, at the Mosses - Ludington Nursing Home. He was 89 years old. Mr. Beede was born in Keene Valley, N.Y., Aug. 7, 1914. He lived and worked in Keene Valley until joining the Army in 1942. He served in Italy during World War II receiving the Purple Heart and Bronze Star for his service with the 88th Infantry Blue Devils 34th QM Co. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Port Henry, N.Y. After military service Mr. Beede was a caretaker-chauffeur for the Robert P. Noble family in Greenwich, Conn., for over 30 years. Noel Beede retired to his beloved Adirondack region. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary Kampa Beede; his daughter, Noelle Beede of Port Henry; one grandson, Lester Frost; and nephews Larry Beede of Tennessee and David Beede of Florida. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 7, 2004, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Patrick Cemetery. Harland Funeral Home in Port Henry are in charge of arrangements. Sister Mary Alvita HartellLake Placid — Sister Mary Alvita Hartell, R.S.M., 91, passed away Wednesday, June 30, 2004, at Uihlein Mercy Center in Lake Placid, where she had been a resident since July 2003. Sister was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Oct. 19, 1912, the daughter of Maximillian and Mary (Loibe) Hartell. Sister had a bachelor’s degree in home economics and was a teacher and dietitian. She taught at St. Thomas The Apostle in New York City, St. Joseph in Spring Valley and St. Michael in Staten lsland. Sister was a dietitian at Mercy Hospital in Watertown, N.Y., from 1955 to 1985, performed community service from 1985 to 1996, a volunteer at Genesis Health Care in Watertown from 1996 to 1999 and at St. Margaret’s Convent at Uihlein Mercy Center in Lake Placid from 1999 to 2002. Sister Hartell is survived by two sisters, Eleanor Carmody of Mattituck, Long lsland, and Helen Rice, who resides in a nursing home in New York City: four nieces, Francis Fogerty, Judith Gelante, Barbara Byrne and Rosemary Cox; three nephews, Dennis Rice, Stephen Carmody and Martin Carmody. She is also survived by several great-nieces and nephews. A sister, Theresa Egan, died earlier. Calling hours will be held Friday, July 2, at the library in St. Margaret's Convent at Uihlein Mercy Center in Lake Placid from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday, July 3, at 10 a.m. at Reiss Memorial Chapel in Uihlein Mercy Center. A Memorial Mass will be offered at Marian Woods in Hartsdale on Wednesday, July 7, at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant, N.Y. The Clark Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements in Lake Placid. Other arrangements will be in care of the Edwards Funeral Home in Dobbs Ferry. George R. HartBEEKMANTOWN, N.Y. — George R. Hart, 66, of the Spellman Road, Beekmantown, died Sunday, July 4, 2004, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh, N.Y. He was born in Plattsburgh on Nov. 25, 1937, the son of Ralph and Julia (Bishop) Hart. He served in the U.S. Navy from January 1955 through November 1958. George worked at the Georgia Pacific Paper Mill for 21 years. He retired in 1986. He was also a member of both the Peru and the Beekmantown Fire Departments. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Shirley A. (Trombley) Hart; two daughters, Debra Garsow of Beekmantown and Diane Bushey and her husband Kevin of Beekmantown. He is the loving grandfather of Chad and Julia Garsow, Eric and Sue Garsow, Jeremy Garsow, Keith Bushey and Heather Bushey. He is also survived by two sisters and brothers-in-law, Joyce and Ray Strack of Peru and Elaine and Glenn Miller of Peru; one brother, Ralph "Butch" Hart and his companion Judy of Asheville, NC; and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours are on Tuesday, July 6, 2004, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. Funeral services will be on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Peter’s Church followed by interment in the parish cemetery. Coolidge, 73, died Sunday, July 4, 2004, with his family by his side. He was born Dec. 6, 1930, in Jay, N.Y., the son of Morse and Roxie (MacDonald) Coolidge. Don was a past member of the Keene Valley Rod and Gun Club and the Keene Valley Fire Department. He also belonged to the F.M. Masonic Lodge 602 in Elizabethtown. He is survived by his wife, Jean (Boprey) Coolidge of Keene; three daughters and their husbands, Donna and Duane Dillingham of Annville, Pa., Linda and Ritt Sanders of Delanson, N.Y., and Marilynn and Peter Murphy of Keene, N.Y.; one son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Kathie Coolidge of Brasher Falls, N.Y.; five grandchildren; and a granddaughter-in-law, Marty Dillingham and Shane Dillingham, Erik and Hadley Thompson, Mark Thompson, Dan Coolidge; one great-grandson, Jonathan Thompson; three brothers and their wives, Morris and Mary Coolidge of Wilmington, Lawrence and Gale Coolidge of Willcox, Ariz., and Ronald and Pat Coolidge or Phoenix, Ariz.; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Kathryn and Philip Pulsifer of Lewis and Nina Williams of Jay; and several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; one brother, John Coolidge; and a sister, Helen Coolidge. No calling hours will be held. A memorial service will be held Thursday, July 8 at 11 a.m. at the Keene Valley Congregational Church. In lieu of flowers donations in Don’s memory may be made to the Keene or Keene Valley Fire Departments. Claude R. Patenaude, 66, of Rouses Point died Sunday, July 4, 2004, at his home. There will be no public calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday, July 10, 2004, at St. Patrick's Church in Rouses Point. Arrangements are with the Clark Funeral Home in Rouses Point. GLADYS HOWES, 91, died on Friday, July 2, 2004, at the Meadowbrook Healthcare Facility in Plattsburgh where she had been a resident since Dec. 13, 2001. She was born Aug. 9, 1912, in Baltimore, Md., the daughter of George and Katherine (Sandrock) Egan. At her request there will be no visitation hours or funeral service. Burial will be at a later date in the family plot at the Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery, Annapolis, Md. Zaumetzer-Sprague Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Rita M. Stone, 84, of Bushey Boulevard, Plattsburgh died on Monday, July 5, 2004, at Evergreen Valley Nursing Home in Plattsburgh. She was born in Plattsburgh on April 16, 1920, daughter of Lyman and Ellen (LaTour) Connors. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. Isabella Ann Normandin, died Friday July 2, 2004, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. She was the daughter of Jean Marie Normandin. A memorial Mass will be celebrated Friday, July 9, 2004, at 11 a.m. from St. Alexander's Church in Morrisonville, with a reception to follow in the parish center. Norman Clement, 76, of Tupper Lake, died Thursday, July 1, 2004, at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake. He was born June 6, 1928, in Tupper Lake. There will be a memorial Mass at St. Alphonsus Church in Tupper Lake. Fortune-Keough-Rennell Funeral Home, Inc. is in charge of arrangements. Lake.
