Published: 6/30/04Raphael E. BoswellPeru — Raphael E. "Ray" Boswell, 88, of Elm Street, Peru, died Saturday, June 26, 2004, at his home. He was born in Peru, June 4, 1916, the son of John and Alice (Allen) Boswell. He attended Peru High School. He then entered the United States Army where he received the European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the Purple Heart. He served in Litchfield, England and Normandy. Ray married the love of his life, Pearl M. Felio, Nov. 11, 1941, at St. Patrick’s Church in Peru. She died Oct. 3, 1997. He retired from Peru Central School in 1981 where he was employed as the transportation supervisor for 20 years. He was a member of the Peru Knights of Columbus, the Peru Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 309 and the Keeseville Elks Lodge 2072. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Sandra G. and Ralph Weir of Peru; one son and daughter-in-law, Robert H. and Kathy Boswell of Peru; grandchildren, Jim Weir, Tracy Coleman and her husband Scott Coleman of Morrisonville, Capt. Kimberly Boswell of Scott Air Force Base, Illinois, Stephanie and her fiancée Shawn Davies of Peru and Robin Boswell and her companion Brian Bressette of Peru; two great-grandsons, Carsen Coleman and Cameron Coleman; two sisters, Phyllis McCormick and Helen Jarvis, both of Peru; and several nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his parents; and two brothers, Harrison Boswell and Patrick Boswell. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Augustine’s Church in Peru with Rev. William Reamer, chaplain of the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh, celebrating. Burial and full military honors will follow in the parish cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to the Peru Rescue Squad. Ann S. ZielinskiPLATTSBURGH — Dr. Ann S. Zielinski, 74, of Addoms Street, Plattsburgh passed away Sunday, June 27, 2004, at her residence. She was born in Syracuse, N.Y., on Oct. 3, 1929, the daughter of Benjamin Z. and Anna Bertha (Stankiewicz) Zielinski. Ann traveled extensively throughout Europe and was multilingual. She was renown for her medieval expertise and she a distinguished professor at Plattsburgh State University College. Ann had many of her articles published and had many friends and colleagues throughout the world. Her students were important to her, nurturing them in the university setting. She was given a plaque epitomizing her ability as a professor to achieve the most of her students. Ann was a member of St. Peter’s Church. She was predeceased by her parents. She is survived by a sister, Patricia Z. Thibodeau and her husband Rene of St. Johnsbury, Vt.; a brother, Mitchell Zielinski of Memphis, Tenn.; a nephew, Jacques of West Medford, Mass.; her nieces, Ann B. of Massachusetts and Christine of Austin, Texas. At Ann’s request their will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial and celebration of her life will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at St. Peter’s Church. Interment will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery. Friends wishing may make donations to the Art Department at Plattsburgh State University College. Beverly TourvilleELLENBURG CENTER — Miss Beverly Tourville, 46, of Ellenburg Center, passed away Monday, June 28, 2004, at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake, N.Y. She was born in Malone, N.Y., on Oct. 1, 1957, the daughter of Raymond (Red) and Irene (Soucia) Tourville. Beverly is survived by five sisters and three brothers-in-law, Carol Bedard of Plattsburgh, Linda and Chet Thurber of Plattsburgh, Wanda Collins of Tupper Lake, Sandra and Kenneth Charland of Plattsburgh and Susan Jane Marie and Craig Cole of Brashier Falls; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Carl and Gail Tourville of Ellenburg Center and Wayne and Denise Tourville of Morrisonville. Beverly is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be today from 10 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home Inc. in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 1 p.m. at St. Edmund’s Church in Ellenburg Depot, N.Y. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to the American Heart Association. Richard McTiguePLATTSBURGH — Richard McTigue, whose life was devoted to education, passed away Monday, June 28, 2004, at Albany Medical Center. He was born June 20, 1936, in New York City. Mr. McTigue lived in West Islip, until moving to Plattsburgh in 1985. After 17 years of teaching and serving as a school administrator in Long Island elementary schools, Mr. McTigue became principal of Stafford Middle School, he retired in 1992. A graduate of SUNY Plattsburgh, Mr. McTigue attended Fordham University and received his masters degree from SUNY Gensco. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed at Plattsburgh Air Force Base. As liaison with the CVPH, Mr. McTigue worked to implement the Heart Smart cafeteria program at the Middle School. A significant contribution was his introduction of the team approach to learning at the middle school level. He received the state award for promoting home and career skills and was honored with the Steuben Apple award. Mr. McTigue also was the 1994 recipient of the Corning Ward for New York State advocate for Home Economics. He was a member of the New York State Middle School Liaison Committee, New York State Education Committee on Nutrition for Life Curriculum and National Association of Secondary School Principals. An active member of the community, Mr. McTigue was a member and officer of the Phi Detta Kappa education honor society. He was an officer of Plattsburgh City Schools Federal Credit Union and the New York State Retired Teachers Association as well as a member of two ARC committees. For many years, Mr. McTigue acted on behalf of teacher’s unions. He was also a member of the NYS Middle School liaison. Survivors are his beloved wife, Mary Ellen; two sons, Brady of Ponte Verde, Fla., and Matthew of Grand Canyon,, Ariz.; a sister, Virginia Sword of Jacksonville, Fla. A memorial service will be held Thursday, June 30, 2004, at St. Mary’s of the Lake at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the SUNY Plattsburgh College Foundation in memory of Richard McTigue or to the MLP Organ Donor Fund, c/o Foundation of CVPH, 75 Beekman Street, Plattsburgh, NY 12901. Arrangements are by the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. Charles E. PinsonneaultPERU — Charles E. Pinsonneault, 80, of Peru passed away Monday, June 26, 2004, at the CVPH Medical Center. He was born Feb. 29, 1924, in Champlain the son of the late Joseph and Cordelius (LaRoche) Pinsonneault. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II and retired from Harris Graphics in 1986. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Champlain and the American Legion Post 767 in Champlain. His parents; his wife, Martha; and one sister, Claire Filion, predecease Charles. Survivors include two sisters, Emma Favreau and Jean Filion; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jake and Lillian DeCelle; as well as several nieces and nephews. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Church in Champlain. Memorial donations may be made to the FitzPatrick Cancer Center. Arrangements are with the Clark Funeral Home in Champlain. Georgianna M. FisherPORT HENRY, N.Y. — Georgianna Fisher, 100, of 22 Waldo Place, Port Henry, N.Y., died Tuesday, June 29, 2004, at the Horace Nye Home, Elizabethtown, N.Y., after a brief illness. Ms. Fisher was born in Shorham, Vt., Feb. 22, 1904, the daughter of Charles and Delina (Desjadon) Shackett. She married Leonard Fisher on Dec. 14, 1924. Survivors include a daughter, Ruth McDonough of Port Henry; and a son, Richard Fisher of Vergennes, Vt. She is survived by eight grandchildren, Patricia Fongomie of Bristol, Conn., Pamela Stevenson of Westport, Clifton Woods of Crown Point, Douglas and Richard Woods of Vermont, Donald Woods of California, Deborah Mascarenas and John McDonough of Mineville. She is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren; and 10 great- great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Leonard Fisher; a daughter, Alice Fisher Woods; a son, Leonard Fisher; and grandson, Todd McDonough. Mrs. Fisher was a homemaker for most of her life, as well as a caring and loving mother and grandmother. Calling hours will be 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, July 1, 2004, at the Harland Funeral Home, Port Henry. John F. FoscoAdams Center — John F. Fosco, 54, of 17978 NYS Route 177, died of cancer Monday morning at his home where he had been under the care of his family and hospice. He was born April 23, 1954, in Ticonderoga son of Carmen and Vera O’Dell Fosco. He graduated from Ticonderoga High School. On Nov. 8, 1980, he married Denise Woodruff of Fulton in the St. Louis Catholic Church in Oswego, The couple live in Adams Center all of their married life. Mr. Fosco is survived by his wife, Denise; a son, Brent C.; and a daughter, Jenna M., all at home; three brothers, Carl Fosco, Hudson Falls and Paul and Mark Fosco both of Ticonderoga; two sisters, Theresa Coffey, Oswego and Sharon Newell, Niskayuna; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Fosco worked in sales all of his working life and for the past several years worked in retail sales for Bach & Co., Clayton. The funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Cecilia’s Church, Adams. Burial will be in the Union Cemetery, Adams Center. Calling hours will be Wednesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Piddock Funeral Home, Adams. There will be a vigil service at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. Lemieux, age 89, formerly of Andrews Street, Massena died 5:20 a.m. Monday, June 28, 2004, at St. Regis Nursing Home in Massena, N.Y. Mr. Lemieux was employed by Metropolitan Life Insurance Company as district manager. He was a member of Knights of Columbus 3rd and 4th degree B.P.O.E. Elks Lodge 2074, American Legion Post 79, past president of Massena Chamber of Commerce, past president of Massena Rotary Club, he was awarded the Paul Harris Fellowship by the Rotary Foundation, past president of Monday Luncheon Club, past chairman of Massena Memorial Hospital Board and past temporary administrator. Served on the Massena Savings & Loan Board of Directors, Mater Dei College Advisory Board for six years, Mater Dei College Board of Trustees for six years. He was a past member of Sacred Heart Church Parish Council, St. Lawrence County Alcoholic Beverage Control Board, New York State Life Underwriters Association, past regional vice president. He was a past trustee at Sacred Heart Church and volunteer for 25 years at the St. Regis Nursing Home. He served in U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific area. Born on Aug. 4, 1914, in Plattsburgh, N.Y., the son of Napoleon Lemieux and Leone (Thibodeau) Lemieux. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Terrance (Michele) L. Branon of Plattsburgh, N.Y., and Mrs. Norman (Anne Marie) Larose of Jericho, Vt.; two sons, John N. and Jeanette Lemieux of Smithfield, R.I., and Peter G. and Cynthia Lemieux of Mesa, Ariz.; 14 grandchildren, Kaitlynn, Kevin and Shea Branon, all of Plattsburgh, Justin Larose of St. Albans, Vt., Marni Larose of San Diego, Calif., Damien Larose of Camp LeJeune, N.C., Marc Lemieux of North Providence, R.I., Paul of Baghdad Iraq, David of North Providence, R.I., Todd of Long Island, Kyle of Chicago, Brendan of Phoenix, Ariz., Justin of Mesa, Ariz., and Margaret of Mesa, Ariz.; and a niece, Elaine Bennett of Plattsburgh. He was predeceased by a brother and sister, Rhea L. Dufour and Rev. George A. Lemiux. He graduated from Mount Assumption Academy in Plattsburgh, N.Y., in 1932. He married Anita E. Light on Oct. 4, 1941, at St. Peter’s Church in Plattsburgh, N.Y., by the Rev. Arthur J. Lemire, OMI. Mrs. Lemieux predeceased him on April 4, 2004. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Catholic Endowment Fund. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Sacred Heart, with the Rev. Donald J. Manfred. Interment will be at Whispering Maples Gardens in Plattsburgh, N.Y. Carlos S. GencianosAlbuera, Lethe Philippines — Carlos S. Gencianos, passed away at his home at 83 on June 28, 2004, with his family. Born on Nov. 14, 1921. Mr. Gencianos was predeceased by his wife, Dativa Gencianos in 1997. Survivors include five daughters and two sons, Anna Colbert and his fiancee Dominic Rascoe of Plattsburgh, Yolanda Ecol-Ecol of Manilla, Violeta Cavalide of Albuera, Editha Martinez of Manilla, Rebecca Cunningham of Chelsea, Australia, Domingo Gencianos, Albuera Lethe and Carlo Gencianos Jr. of Albuera; 22 grandchildren; and 14 great-grand-children. Mr. Gencianos was a self employed farmer until his retirement He was also a scout during the invasion of General MacArthur in finding the Japanese of the Island of Lethe. He was a loving father and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren until his death. |
