Randall D. Baker

Ellenburg Depot — Randall D. "Randy" Baker, 49, of Ellenburg Depot, died Friday, June 25, 2004, at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington, Vt.

On Dec. 30, 1954, on an icy winter night, Douglas and Gwendolyn Baker of Ellenburg Depot welcomed Randall into His world.

Along with his parents, Randy leaves his sisters, Lyn and her husband Gary Duffy of Dannemora and Julie and her husband Kevin Finley of Ellenburg Depot; and his brother, Rodney and his wife Joanne Baker of Mooers.

He also leaves his special nieces, Ami, Kami, Kelly, Casey, Candace, Brittany, Cala and Morgin; one nephew, Trevor; and a great-nephew, Alex; his grandmother, Gertrude Moore; and several aunts, uncles, cousins; and many close friends.

Randy graduated from Northern Adirondack Central School in Ellenburg. He went on to Houghton College and Buffalo School of Law. After completing these adventures along with working on the railroad in the mountains of Colorado, Randy returned to make Ellenburg his home.

He worked for the Clinton County Probation Department and was presently employed at the Franklin Correctional Facility. Randy was deeply respected by many. His concern and caring for others made him outstanding in his field of counseling, not only in the workplace but with family and friends as well.

Randy was an avid hiker and mountain climber. He had accomplished the task of climbing the 46 High Peaks and was a member of the 46R Club. He was a loyal NY Yankee fan. His love and devotion for the Lord Jesus was evident in his life. It started early in his life and had grown deeper in the past years as Randy continued to study the Bible daily and attend worship services. Randy was assured and made sure his family knew that he was assured, a place in heaven with his Lord and Savior.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the E.F. Drown Funeral Service in Ellenburg Depot. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday from the Ellenburg Depot Wesleyan Church. Interment will follow in Sheldon Hill Cemetery in Ellenburg Depot.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Ellenburg Depot Fire Department.
