Marvin H. St. Denis

Plattsburgh — Marvin H. St. Denis, 64, died Friday, June 18, 2004, at his residence in Plattsburgh.

Born in Plattsburgh on Dec. 18, 1939, he was the son of Marvin St. Denis and Beatrice Ducatte.

Marvin was employed by the NYS Department of Transportation for 45 years as a highway maintenance supervisor.

He was a horseman all his life and an avid Team Penner. He was a member of the United States Team Penning Association.

Survivors include his companion, Debby Calisti; a son, Robert St. Denis of Plattsburgh and his companion Deborah Stampfler; two daughters, Carolyn St. Denis of North Bangor and her companion Greg Monica and Sharon and Dennis Digman of Thompson Ridge, N.Y.; a sister, Joanne Chiodetti of Massachusetts; two granddaughters, Amber and Aleasha Digman; two nephews and a niece; and many wonderful friends.

Calling hours will be Monday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the O'Neill-Redden-Drown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A prayer service will follow at 6 p.m.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.

Clayton A. Wood

Riverview — Clayton A. Wood, 80, died Friday, June 18, 2004, at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.

Born in Riverview on March 24, 1924, he was the son of Fred and Ina (Strack) Wood.

Clayton worked for 35 years at Diamond International.

Survivors include six daughters, Beverly Poirer Bombard and her husband Marvin of Saranac Lake, Darlene Wood of Saranac Lake, Rachel Snow of Waymith, Mass., Cindy Sorrell of Winder, Ga., Tina Wood and her longtime companion James Theriault, Pamela Denis and her husband Henry of Tupper Lake; four sons, Rocky Wood and his wife Tina of Redford, Barry Wood and his wife Bev of Beekmantown, Barton Wood and his wife Pamela of Plattsburgh and Danny Wood and his wife Carla of Tupper Lake; 19 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents; five brothers, Walter, Philip, Cleveland, Leo and Donald Wood; and three sisters, Ethel Anderson, Lena Strack and Lorraine Derocher.

Calling hours will be from 10 a.m. to noon on Tuesday at the O'Neill - Redden - Drown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. from the Church of the Assumption in Redford. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

Cornelius Arthur "Artie" Egbert

Westport — Cornelius A. Egbert, 88, of 3 Fire Fly Lane, Westport, died Saturday, June 19, 2004, at the Horace Nye Nursing Home, Elizabethtown.

He was married to the late Virginia (Sawyer) Egbert for 54 years.

Cornelius served in the U.S. Army as a staff sergeant during World War II under General Patton. He worked as an insurance underwriter for Signa Inc. of New York City.

He is survived by his son, Neil Arthur Egbert; his brother, Richard Egbert and sister-in-law Gladys; and several nieces and nephews.

He moved to Westport in 2000.

Calling hours will be held Sunday, June 20, 2004, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Harland Funeral Home, Port Henry. Burial will be in the Moravian Church Cemetery, Staten Island, N.Y.

Lawrence LaBarre Sr.

Hanover, Pa. — Lawrence E. "Larry" LaBarre Sr., 86, of Hanover, died Friday, June 18, 2004, at Hanover Hall. He was the husband of Lois M. (Clark) LaBarre for 58 years. Born April 29, 1918, in Ellenburg, N.Y., he was the son of the late Edward and Emma (Rollo) LaBarre.

Larry was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Air Force as a flight engineer on the B-24 bomber. He flew in 50 missions and was awarded the Bronze Star for heroism. Mr. LaBarre was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Hanover. He was a well known businessman in Plattsburgh, N.Y., where other memberships he had included the B.P.O. Elks 621, the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Laurie E. Derby, Manchester, Md.; a son, Lawrence E. LaBarre Jr., Saranac, N.Y.; three brothers, Frank LaBarre, Plattsburgh, N.Y., Leonard Labarre, Ellenburg, N.Y., and Donald LaBarre, Syracuse, N.Y.; two sisters, Mina Robare, Plattsburgh, N.Y., and Pearl Vanderwalker, St. Regis Falls, N.Y.; seven grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Hall and Madora Cheyne.

A funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday from St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 220 Third St., Hanover, with Rev. John A. Szada Jr. as celebrant. There will be no public viewing. Burial will be in St. Edmund’s Catholic Church Cemetery in Ellenburg, N.Y.

The Wetzel Funeral Home, 549 Carlisle St., Hanover, is in charge of arrangements.

Barbara Wilson Charles

Watervliet, N.Y. — In loving memory of our mother, Barbara Wilson Charles, 77, who died peacefully on June 17, 2004, at Albany Medical Center, surrounded by her loved ones.

Born in 1927 and educated in Plattsburgh, N.Y., she graduated from St. Joseph's Hospital, Yonkers, N.Y., as an L.P.N. Mrs. Charles was a former member of St. Pius X Church, Loudonville, N.Y., and the Watervliet Senior Citizens.

She was predeceased by her loving husband, Nicholas A. Charles.

A sweet woman with a great sense of humor and love of life, she will be missed by many, including her three daughters, Barbara Tully (Martin) of Colonie, N.Y., Catherine Blackman (Peter) of Albany, N.Y., and Jane Charles of Vancouver, Canada; her grandchildren, Nicholas Tully, Meghan Tully and Jessica Gandy and her two sisters, Jane Wilson Ohlsen of Plattsburgh and Mazy Kazanstien of Coco, Fla.

She was predeceased by sister Sally Jarvis and brothers Jack, Ted and Michael Wilson, all of Plattsburgh. There will be a memorial service on Tuesday, June 22, 2004, at 10 a.m. at St. Pius X Church in Loudonville, N.Y., followed by a burial service at St. Agnes Cemetery in Menands, N.Y.

Theresa A. "Teri" Calderaro

Centerville, Mass. — Theresa A. (Kelly) Calderaro, 65, died Tuesday in Boston from illness.

She was born in Plattsburgh, N.Y.

She was the beloved wife of Arthur Calderaro. They shared over 40 years of happiness as parents, grandparents and life companions.

Teri was a retired nurse, a profession that suited her caring nature. While a homemaker by day in Boxboro, she earned her nursing degree from Middlesex Community College in 1980. She went on to work at Emerson Hospital in Concord, then as a home-health nurse with the Town of Acton for several years.

She continued to work as a visiting nurse on Cape Cod after moving here in 1992, retiring in 1999.

Teri was as much at home in a crowd, laughing and singing, as she was relaxing with a book. She loved the Cape, her favorite places including Dowses Beach in Osterville, the Centerville Library and, with her granddaughter, the Centerville penny candy store. Gardening, cooking and traveling were among her many other pleasures.

She is survived by her daughter, Michelle Calderaro of Amherst, Mass.; son Robert and daughter-in-law Martha of Natick, Mass., and son Matthew and daughter-in-law Simone of Orlando, Fla.; and granddaughter Louisa Calderaro. She is also survived by her brother, Clarence Kelley of Plattsburgh, N.Y.; sisters Audrey Harris of Woodstock, Ga., and Ileen Allen of North Bangor, N.Y.; and numerous other relatives and friends. All will miss her greatly.

A memorial Mass was celebrated on Friday, June 18th, at Our Lady of Victory Church in Centerville.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Centerville Public Library, 585 Main St., Centerville, MA 02632.

Mildred A. Stockholm, 78, formerly of Friends Point in Hague and most recently of New Jersey, died Saturday, June 19, 2004, in New Jersey.

Arrangements are incomplete at this time and are under the direction of the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home of Ticonderoga. A full obituary will appear in the Monday Press-Republican.

Donald C. Hilborne, 64, of the Taylor Hill Road, Keeseville, died Saturday, June 19, 2004, at his home.

He was born in Ogdensburg on Sept. 15, 1939.

Abigail Leigh Martin, 23, of Bouchard Drive, Peru, died Saturday, June 19, 2004, at the Vermont Respite House in Williston, Vt.

Leona M. Mooso, 84, of Destin, Fla., and formerly of West Chazy, died Friday, June 18, 2004, at the Destin Health Care Center.

She was born in Mooers Forks on Feb. 11, 1920, the daughter of John and Agnes (Miller) LaValley.

Roland D. Boyea Sr., of 2 Howard Dr., Malone, N.Y., died Friday, June 18, 2004, at his home, while under the loving care of his family and Hospice of the North Country, Inc.

He was born in Whippleville, N.Y., on Dec. 17, 1931, the son of the late Halsey and Velena (Ledger) Boyea.

Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday at the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home in Malone. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Notre Dame Church in Malone. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery in Malone.

Joseph Manuel Florio, 56, of Columbia, S.C., died Friday, June 18, 2004.

He was born in New York City, the son of Dora Camancho and Thomas M. Florio.

Calling hours will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. on Monday at the Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, Columbia, S.C., with a funeral service following at 2 p.m. Interment will be in Florence National Cemetery at 11 a.m. on Tuesday.
