Published: 6/15/04Jane M. ParahPort Henry, NY — Jane M. Parah, 66 of Port Henry, N.Y., and formerly of Burlington, Vt., died Sunday, June 13, 2004, at the Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington following a courageous seven year battle with Hemolytic Anemia. She was born in Burlington on June 17, 1937, the daughter of the late Edmund and Dorothy (Miller) Free. Jane graduated from Cathedral High School in 1955 and received her Bachelor of Science degree in 1959 from Johnson State College, Johnson, Vt. On Aug. 27, 1957, she married Charles E. Parah in Christ the King Church in Burlington. Jane had been a first grade teacher with Moriah, N.Y., Central School system for 16 years. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Church in Port Henry, N.Y. Jane was a faithful wife, loving mother, grandmother, daughter and a beloved sister. She had a strong faith in God, a great devotion to the Blessed Mother and St. Theresa and a heart for prayer, praying the rosary daily. Her dedication and love of teaching touched the hearts of many children. Her love of music was passed on to her children, each playing a musical instrument. She possessed a giving heart and blue eyes that sparkled with joy and laughter. She is survived by her husband, Charles E. of Port Henry; four children, Dr. Martha J. Parah of Chapel Hill, N.C., Rebecca A. Perrotte and her husband Bruce of Jericho, Michael C. Parah of Clearwater, Fla., and Matthew E. and his wife Donna of Longs, S.C.; 11 grandchildren, Beth, Andrew, Dominic, Nicholas, Jacinta, Paschal, Sarah, Josiah, Noah, Michael Jr. and Jordan; two sisters, Beverly Rooney and her husband Richard of Burlington and Margaret Bouffard of South Burlington; brothers and sisters-in-law, Wayne Parah and his wife Norma of St. Albans, Lyle Parah and his wife Donna of Highgate, Bette Fickeret and her husband Donald of Maryland, Maurice Parah and his wife Judy of Highgate, Armand Parah and his wife Linda of Virginia, and Nancy Greene and her husband Richard of St. Albans; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Robert Free and Patrick Free; and a brother-in-law, Normand Bouffard. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, 5 to 8 p.m. in the Ready Funeral Home, South Chapel, 261 Shelburne Road, Burlington. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 17 at 11 a.m. in Christ the King Roman Catholic Church, Locust Street, Burlington. Burial will follow in St. Luke’s Cemetery, Fairfax, Vt. For those who wish, her family request Masses in her memory be said. Joyce C. DrownEllenburg Depot — Joyce C. Drown, 79, of Ellenburg Depot, died Sunday, June 13, 2004, at Richelieu Hospital in St. Jean sur Richelieu, Quebec. She was born in Belleville, Ontario, on Sept. 9, 1924, the daughter of Alfred and Edith Maude (Stewart) Woodhouse. She was a former member of the Mount Herman Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. She is survived by a niece, Beth and Barry Turpin of Belleville, Ontario; and two nephews, Robert and Cathy Follwell and Michael Follwell, also of Belleville, Ontario. Her mother and father; a sister, Mercy Follwell; and a brother, George Woodhouse died earlier. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the E.F. Drown Funeral Service in Ellenburg Depot. Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Asa Sprague officiating. Interment will be in Whispering Maples Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Ellenburg Depot. Donald O. Hendrix, 92, of Grove City, Fla., and formerly of Cadyville, died Saturday, May 8, 2004. He was born in Cadyville on April 4, 1912, son of the late Oscar and Myra (Hurlburt) Hendrix. A graveside memorial service will be held Saturday, June 19, 2004, at 11:30 a.m. in the Cadyville Protestant Cemetery in Cadyville. Catherine M. Lepine, 89, of South William Street, Malone, N.Y., died Monday, June 14, 2004, at the Alice Hyde Nursing Home Malone, she had been a resident since Feb. 24, 2004. Born in Malone, May 18, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Oliver and Minnie Kelsey Condon. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. at the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home in Malone. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Notre Dame Church in Malone, with Monsignor Dennis Duprey officiating. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Elspeth Margaret Sussdorff McMonigal, 69, of Riceville Road, Asheville, died Thursday, June 3, 2004. Archibald C. Jones, 88, of the Irish Settlement Road, Plattsburgh died Saturday, June 12, 2004, at his home with his family by his side. He was born in Peruville, N.Y., on Feb. 2, 1916, the son of James and Myrtle (Deyo) Jones. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh. A funeral service will follow at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home chapel with the Reverend John Sorensen, Rector of the Trinity Episcopal Church officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Gloria E. St. Denis, 82, of 120 Cornelia Street, Plattsburgh, died Sunday, June 13, 2004, at the Evergreen Valley Nursing Home. She was born the daughter of Edgar and Electa (Bourgerie) Guay. Funeral services will be at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh. Lorraine F. Taylor, 63, of Ticonderoga, died Sunday, June 13, 2004, at the Hallmark Nursing Home of Granville, where she has been a resident. She was born Dec. 19, 1940, in Blue Ridge, N.Y. Calling hours will be Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home, Ticonderoga. A funeral service will follow on Thursday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Paul L. Dufford Jr., officiating. Burial will be in the family plot of the Mt. Hope Cemetery of Ticonderoga. MEMORIAL SERVICEPECORE — A memorial Mass for Thomas Charles Pecore of Plattsburgh, N.Y., who died on April 23, 2004, in Zephyrhills, Fla., will be offered in his memory on Wednesday, June 16, 2004, at St. Peter’s Church in Plattsburgh at 10 a.m. All friends and relatives are invited to join Thomas’ family following the Mass in the celebration of his life with a luncheon at the VFW on Boynton Avenue. |
