Archibald C. Jones

PLATTSBURGH — Mr. Archibald C. "Archie" Jones, 88, of Irish Settlement Road, Plattsburgh, passed away Saturday, June 12, 2004, at his home with his family by his side.

He was born in Peruville, N.Y., on Feb. 2, 1916, the son of James and Myrtle (Deyo) Jones.

Archie was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy. He retired from the Plattsburgh Housing Authority in 1980 and later was a barber at the Plaza Barber Shop. Archie enjoyed working around the house and spending time with his grandchildren.

Archie was predeceased by his parents; his first wife, Thelma (Heckman) Jones; a stepson, Martin Scroggins; and five sisters and four brothers.

He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Barbara (Breyette) (Scroggins) Jones of Plattsburgh; three sons, Archibald Jones Jr. and his wife, Charlotte, of Ellenburg, Melvin Jones of Ellenburg and Joseph Jones of Colorado; his step-children, Glenn Scroggins and his wife, Angela, of Plattsburgh and Susan Laundry of Buffalo; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the Brown Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery.

Friends wishing may make donations to Alzheimer’s research.

Hattie J. Cassavaugh

WESTPORT — Hattie J. Cassavaugh, 90, of 41 Hulbert Road, Westport, died Saturday, June 12, at the Elizabethtown Hospital with her family by her side.

She was born Feb. 12, 1914, in Elizabethtown, the daughter of Warren and Eliza (Tubbs) Bronson. Hattie owned and operated Cassavaugh’s Garage and Grocery with her husband, Floyd (Dubb) Cassavaugh, for many years.

She is survived by one son and his wife, Eugene and Isabelle Cassavaugh of Lewis; two daughters and their husbands: Sonja and Claude Aubin of Elizabethtown, and Sharon and Wayne Garvey of Willsboro; one granddaughter and her husband, Earlynn (Lynn) and Arthur Cross of Lewis; three daughters-in-law: Carmen Cassavaugh of Lewis, Joan Cassavaugh of Morrisonville and Shirley Brant of Willsboro; one brother, John Bronson of Westport; three sisters-in-law, Vennia Cassavaugh of Lewis, Iola Collinson of Lewis and Pat Shappy of Westport; 23 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was married to Floyd (Dubb) Cassavaugh for 62 years until his death in 1994. Three sons, Earl, Erwin and Everett; and one daughter and her husband, Joseph and Sandra Robetoy; one granddaughter, Cindy Aubin; one grandson, Eric (Rick) Cassavaugh; two brothers, Rolland and Clifford Bronson; and two sisters, Flossie Sunn and Vadia Bezio, died earlier.

Calling hours will be held today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Marvin’s Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Lewis Church. Burial will be in the Lewis Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Central New York Processing Center, P.O. Box 328, Liverpool, N.Y. 13088; High Peaks Hospice, Box 195, Mineville, N.Y., 12956; or the Elizabethtown-Lewis Ambulance Squad, Elizabethtown, N.Y. 12932.

RAMON F. DOMINGUEZ, 57, of Turner Road, died Thursday, June 10, 2004, at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington.

He was born in Puerto Rico on Nov. 23, 1946, son of Victoria (Velazquez) Dominguez.

Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, June 17, 2004 at Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A funeral service will be held noon Friday at Brown Funeral Home with the Rev. Vicente F. Jazmines, pastor of St. Augustine’s Church in Peru, officiating. Burial will follow in Ingraham Cemetery in Ingraham.

JOYCE C. DROWN, 79, of Ellenburg Depot, died Sunday, June 13, 2004, at Richelieu Hospital in St. Jean sur Richelieu, Quebec. Arrangements were incomplete Sunday evening at the E.F. Drown Funeral Service in Ellenburg Depot.
