Lena E. Torrance

AuSABLE FORKS — Lena E. Torrance, 85, of Stickney Bridge Road, AuSable Forks, died Sunday, June 6, 2004, at the Adirondack Medical Center, Saranac Lake.

She was born in AuSable Forks, Jan. 20, 1919, the daughter of Thomas D. and Lucy "Daby" Gorman.

Lena attended the Catholic Elementary School in AuSable Forks, graduating from AuSable Forks High School in 1938. Following high school she attended Central City Business Institute in Syracuse. She worked for several years at the National Commercial Bank & Trust Co., and later was bookkeeper for Torrance & Trumbull Inc., and the Red Bandanna Rest. Until her retirement. Lena was secretary and treasurer for AuSable Forks Alumni Association, for many years.

Lena enjoyed many hobbies including bowling, golf, sewing, her pets and wildlife and traveling. She was a member of the Holy Name Catholic Church, AuSable Forks.

Survived by her husband, David Torrance of AuSable Forks, whom she married July 30, 1945, at Holy Name Church; a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Calvin Coolidge of Jay; a sister-in-law, Katy Torrance of AuSable Forks; and a nephew, Lee Torrance and his family of Upper Jay.

Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday at the Zaumetzer-Sprague Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Holy Name Catholic Church, AuSable Forks. Burial will follow in Holy Name Cemetery.

Donations in her memory may be made to High Peaks Hospice, P0 Box 195, Mineville, NY 12956 or the AuSable Forks Volunteer Ambulance Service, envelopes for both are available at the funeral home.

Barbara Ann Mumblo

HARTFORD – Barbara Ann Mumblo, 69, of State Route 196, has gone to join her husband, on Sunday, June 6, 2004, at the Glens Falls Hospital , after a brief illness.

Born on March 23, 1935, in Plattsburgh, she was the daughter of the late George and Mabel Rock.

On Sept. 27, 1952, she married Robert R. Mumblo in Plattsburgh. He passed away on Dec. 1, 1984. They lived in Hudson Falls for a time.

Barbara worked at Chase Bag, Inc., in Moreau, until they closed and then was employed at C.R. Bard, Inc. in Queensbury, until her retirement in the year 2000.

She enjoyed shopping, watching soap operas and especially, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by two sisters, Theresa Upton and Irene Myers.

Survivors include her four children, Sharron Lancette and her husband, Richard of Hartford, Carole Phillips and her special friend, Robert Giordano of Saratoga Springs, Robert Mumblo and his wife, Debbie of Hudson Falls and Barbara Mumblo and her special friend, Tim Barnes of Hudson Falls; six grandchildren, Rebecca Aldous and her husband, Roger of Granville, Christopher McGraw and his wife, Bethanne of Jacksonville, Fla., Sarah Mumblo of Hudson Falls, Scott Hoffer and his wife, Lori of Sunnyside, Nicole Dutcher of Queensbury and William Hoffer and his special friend, Lynn Conrad of Hudson Falls; stepgrandchidren, Megan Montello of Hudson Falls, Richard Lancette Jr. and his wife, Barbara of Lake George, Daniel Lancette and his special friend, Carole of Hudson Falls and Rebecca Gent and her husband, Tom of Hartford, Conn.; her great-grandchildren, Joshua Burt, Brenden McGraw and Ryan Aldous; her two brothers, Herman Rock and his wife, Shirley of the Plattsburgh area, George Rock and his wife, Theresa of Pennsylvania, Mary Muchler and her husband, Robert, Beatrice Arlt and Ester Miller and her husband, Ernest, all of the Plattsburgh area; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc. 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

The Rite of Committal will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery on Burgoyne Avenue in the town Fort Edward at 11 a.m. on Friday.

The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the American Diabetes Association, 7 Washington Square, Albany, NY 12205.

Emilie Bainbridge Morris

SCOTIA — Emilie Bainbridge Morris, 87, of Scotia, N.Y., passed away on May 30, 2004, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Phillip Schafer of Keeseville.

Emilie was born July 23, 1916.

She was a seamstress in Scotia for many years.

She was predeceased by her husband of almost 65 years, George D. Morris in October 2001. She was also predeceased by a daughter, Linda.

Survivors include her siblings, William Bainbridge, Milton Bainbridge and Amanda Ruth Williams; her children, Suzanne and her husband Lee Sykes of Scotia, G. David Morris Jr. and his wife Patricia of Fairport, N.Y., and Kimberly and her husband Phillip Schafer of Keeseville, N.Y. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Bart and his wife Tracey Sykes, Joshua and his wife Ann Marie Sykes, Linda and her husband John I’Anson, Shelby and Shannon Morris, Shelton and his wife Jessica Schafer and Bebbyn and Cullen Schafer; four great-granddaughters; and two step grandsons.

Emilie loved to sew and loved to be with her family and friends. Her life was celebrated in her church, Scotia United Methodist on Friday, June 4, 2004.

Michael LaPorte, 63, of Route 9 North, Plattsburgh, died Wednesday, June 2, 2004, at his home.

He was born in Plattsburgh on May 11, 1941, son of the late Ezra and Delia (King) LaPorte.

There will be no calling hours. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 8, 2004, at 9 a.m. from the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. Interment will be at a later date at the convenience of the family.

Gaylord M. Bushey, 67, of Cornelia Street, Plattsburgh, died Friday, June 4, 2004, at his home.

He was born in Plattsburgh on Aug. 11, 1936, son of the late Ernest and Catherine Bushey.

A committal service was held on Monday, June 7, 2004, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Cemetery in West Chazy. Father Harry Giroux, pastor of St. Joseph's, read the committal prayers.

Arrangements were with Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.
