Published: 6/4/04Howard Joseph CayeaEllenburg Depot — Howard J. Cayea, 78, of Ellenburg Depot, died Wednesday, June 2, 2004, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. He was born in Ellenburg Depot on July 23, 1925, the son of James Wilfred and Ida (Miller) Cayea. He was married on Oct. 16, 1947, to Lillian Burdo. Howard was employed as a bus driver and mechanic for 36 years at Northern Adirondack Central School in Ellenburg. He was a dairy farmer for many years. He enjoyed camping, snowmobiling, traveling and was an active member of St. Edmund's Church. He truly loved his wife, Lillian, his friends, family and received great enjoyment from his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Howard is survived by his wife, Lillian (Burdo) Cayea; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Caroline (Rabideau) Cayea of Mooers Forks; a daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Delbert Hart of Ellenburg Depot; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Norman and Carol Cayea of Amenia, N.Y., and James and Marie Cayea of Ellenburg Depot; a sister, Luella Weed and close friend Gene Turner of Alexandria, Va.; eight grandchildren, Dr. Delbert and Melissa Hart, Amy (Hart) and Chris Allegretta, Corey Hart, Ashley Hart, Kristen Cayea and Chelsea Cayea; four great-grandchildren, William Amato, Tracey Amato, Delbert Hart III and Monique Allegretta; and several nieces and nephews. Howard is predeceased by a daughter, Susan Diane Cayea, who died July 21, 1957; his parents, James Wilfred and Ida Cayea; a brother, Wilferd Elmer Cayea; and a granddaughter, Mary Beth Hart. Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the E.F. Drown Funeral Service in Ellenburg Depot. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Edmund's Church in Ellenburg. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Richard "Dick" CaseyQUEENSBURY, N.Y. — Richard "Dick" Casey, 67, of Queensbury and formerly of Plattsburgh, passed away Wednesday, June 2, 2004, after a short illness at Glens Falls Hospital. He was born in Plattsburgh on Aug. 3, 1936, the son of the late Raymond and Thelma (Dillenberck) Casey. Dick married the former Sandra Lemery on Jan. 30, 1960. He worked in retail sales for more than 42 years, retiring from Barretts Auto Sales. Dick was one of the organizers of Queensbury Little League, enjoyed playing golf with his sons and was a fan of many organized sports. Besides his wife, he is survived by their children: a son, Richard Casey and his wife Pamela and grandchildren Heather and Breanna of Moreau; a daughter, Robbin Casey and grandchildren Austin and Ashlee of California; a son, Ryan Casey and his wife Terri of Gloversville. He is also survived by his brother John and his wife Shauneen of Plattsburgh; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Bob and Nancy Avon of Glens Falls, a sister-in-law, Hilda Casey of Plattsburgh, sister-in-law Theresa Casey of Queensbury and brother-in-law Joseph Clain of Rutland, Vt. Many nieces, nephews and special friends also survive him. Dick was predeceased by his stepmother, Lillian Casey; and brothers Raymond and Robert Casey; and his sister, Jo Anne Clain. At Dick’s request, no services are scheduled. A celebration of his life will be held at Rick and Pam Casey’s, 4 Michael Road, Moreau, on Saturday, June 12th, at noon for family and friends. A special thank you to all the staff on 3 Central at Glens Falls Hospital; their kindness to Dick and his family will not be forgotten. Donations in Dick’s memory to High Peaks Hospice, 286 Glen St., Glen Falls, NY 12801, for all the good work they provide is requested. Arrangements are under the direction of Singleton-Healy Funeral Home, 407 Bay Road, Queensbury. Steven Craig McGarvey Sr., 45, of 123 Broughton St., Manteo, N.C., died Monday, May 31, 2004, at his home. He was born in Malone on Oct. 23, 1958, the son of Kenneth and Gertrude (Niles) McGarvey. Visitation will be held at Fortune-Keough Funeral Home on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Deacon Jeffrey Hubbard from St. Bernard's Church officiating. Burial will follow at Harrietstown Cemetery in Saranac Lake. |
