Donald E. Stoddard Sr.

Moriah — Donald E. Stoddard Sr., 76, died May 25, 2004, at his home in Moriah, N.Y.

He was born in Mineville, N.Y., on May 7, 1929, the son of Marcus and Jennie Stoddard.

Donald is survived by his wife, Vivian D. Stoddard, after 57 years of marriage, nine children and their spouses, son, John and Dawn Stoddard of Ticonderoga N.Y., daughter, Doris and Bradford DuRoss of Mineville N.Y., son, Donald Jr. and Becky Stoddard of North Huntingdon Pa., son, Gary and Crystal Stoddard of Moriah, N.Y., son, Kenneth and Lorraine Stoddard of Moriah, N.Y., son, Ronald and Gina Stoddard of Hartford, N.Y., daughter, Crystal and Chandler Thompson of North Hudson, N.Y., son, Randy and Roberta Stoddard of Moriah, N.Y., daughter, Tracy and Drew Handchett of Severance, N.Y.; 25 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. He is survived by brother, Jerald Stoddard of Mississippi; sisters, Jean Yukalis and Marion Roberts of Mineville.

Donald joined The United States Navy Seabee’s during World War II as an electrician. Then came home and worked in the mine’s located in Mineville, N.Y. After the mines closed he became a carpenter with his father and brother, William Stoddard, until his retirement.

Services will be held at Saint Patrick’s Church, Port Henry, N.Y., at 11 a.m. Saturday.

Helen M. Bodzek

Port Henry — Helen M. (Lena) Bodzek of Waldo Place, Port Henry died Friday, May 28, 2004, at the Moses Ludington Nursing Home in Ticonderoga, N.Y.

She was born in Mineville, N.Y., on Feb. 4, 1915, the daughter of John and Mary (Bury) Bodzek.

She was employed for 35 years at the Grand Union Store in Port Henry.

Lena is survived by her sister, Genevieve Emru of Port Henry.

Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her brothers, Duffield Bodzek and Stephen Bodzek.

There will be no calling hours. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick’s Church in Port Henry, Monsignor John McAvoy, officiating.

Anita M. Allen

Plattsburgh — Mrs. Anita M. "Maggie" Allen, 67, of Johnson Avenue, Plattsburgh passed away Tuesday, June 1, 2004, at the CVPH Medical Center after a battle with cancer.

She was born in Plattsburgh on Dec. 2, 1936, the daughter of Simon and Anita (Daniels) Perry.

Maggie had worked at Plattsburgh Lanes, Lee’s Fox Hill Tavern and the VFW Post 125. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and was an avid bingo player. Maggie was a member of Our Lady of Victory Church.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Joseph F. Allen Sr.; a brother, Thomas Perry; and a sister, Shirley Fredette.

Maggie is survived by her children, Laura St. John and her husband Paul of Plattsburgh, Joseph Allen Jr. and his companion Lisa LaPointe of Chazy, Regina Dominy and her husband Floyd Jr. of Plattsburgh; grandchildren, Thomas, Dalton and Madison Dominy, Brittney St. John and Nicole LaPointe; her brothers, Simon (Sharron) Perry of Cadyville, Gary (Beverly) Perry of Plattsburgh, Jim (Donna) Perry of Pryor, Okla., Bernard (Alice) Perry of Chazy and David (Sharron) Perry of Morrisonville; her sisters, Mrs. Fred (Joan) Reyell of Saranac, Debbie Bennett of Beekmantown, Linda Latour of Plattsburgh and Mrs. Rick (Barbara) Dyer of Great Falls, Mont.; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours and funeral services will be at the convenience of the family. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Friends wishing may make donations to Hospice of the North Country or have Masses said in her memory.

Arrangements are by the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh.

John Andrews Jr.

Willsboro — Col. John Andrews Jr., retired, died Dec. 12, 2003.

Col. Andrews was born in Floral Park, N.Y., Feb. 25, 1930.

In his youth he was a camper at Camp Pok-o-Moonshine and continued his love of the Adirondacks for his lifetime.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Anne (Norton); a son, John William Andrews and his wife Michelle Boulais; a daughter, Wendy and her husband Robert VonDerLinn; grandchildren, Lauren Keough and Kelsey and Christopher VonDerLinn; and his brother and wife, Robert and Nancy Andrews.

Memorial services will be held at the Reber Methodist Church at 11 a.m. Saturday followed by interment in the Reber Cemetery.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations in his memory be made to the Camp Pok-o-McCready Scholarship Fund c/o Jack Swan, 101 Reber Road, Route 22, Willsboro, NY 12996; or the Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, PO Box 27106, New York, NY 10087-7106, online www.MSKCC.org.

Ann H. Richards

Mooers — Ann H. Richards, 81, died Tuesday, June 1, 2004, at Our Lady of the Meadows Nursing Home in Richford, Vt.

She was born in Bronxville, N.Y., on Feb. 12, 1923, the daughter of Neil J. and Harriet (Niles) Jansen.

She was employed at the Mooers Slipper factory for many years and later for Burroughs Pharmaceuticals.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Janet Richards of Milton, Vt.; two grandchildren, Amy Parillo and Kathryn Simone; two great-grandchildren, Jebadiah and Molly Parillo; and several nieces and nephews.

Her husband, Ernest P. Richards died on May 11, 1987. Her brother, Alton LaPorte also died earlier.

Calling hours will be held on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the E.F. Drown Funeral Service in Mooers. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday from the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Mooers.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer’s Association.

Evelyn J, Miles, 84, of Walker Avenue, Malone, N.Y., died Wednesday, June 2, 2004, at the Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone. She had been a patient there since June 1.

She was born in Bellmont, N.Y., April 2, 1920, the daughter of the late James and Rose Gravelin Gardner.

Calling hours will be Friday from 9 to 10:15 a.m. at the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home in Malone. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. at Notre Dame Church in Malone. Burial will be in St. George’s Cemetery in Burke, N.Y.

DONALD O. HENDRIX, 92, of Grove City, Fla., (Charlotte County) died May 28, 2004.

He was born April 4, 1912, in Cadyville, N.Y.

Memorial services will be held at Cadyville Cemetery at a later date. Internment will be in Cadyville Cemetery. Lemon Bay Funeral Homes Englewood Chapel is in charge of cremation arrangements.
