Joan T. Duquette

Plattsburgh — Mrs. Joan T. Duquette, 81, of Bay Road, Cumberland Head, passed away Thursday, May 20, 2004, at the CVPH Medical Center with her family by her side.

She was born in Passaic, N.J., on Jan. 29, 1923, the daughter of William and Minnie (Simkins) Thompson.

Joan was a graduate of St. John's Academy, Class of 1939 and received her B.S. in Home Economics from Plattsburgh State and received her M.S. in Elementary Education from Plattsburgh State. She was employed for one year at Boonville Central School in home economics, seven years with Saranac Central School in elementary education and 19 years at Beekmantown Central School as reading specialist, retiring in 1982. Joan was a member of the New York State Retired Teachers, a charter member of the Champlain Valley Reading Council, a charter member, R.A. delegate and lobbyist of the North Country Council of Retirees E.D. #9 and a charter member, secretary, treasurer and lobbyist of the local Champlain Valley Council of Retirees. She was a member of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program and a Docent since 1991 at the Clinton County Historical Museum, a patient volunteer at Eye-Care for the Adirondacks, a member and volunteer at the Clinton County Senior Citizens Council. She was a regular attendee at the Eye-Care for the Adirondacks Senior Fitness program and the YMCA Senior Swim Program. Joan was a member of the Plattsburgh Lodge Ladies of the Elks. She was a member of St. Mary's of the Lake Church since it was founded in 1960 and was a choir member since 1991.

Joan was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Sidney W. Duquette, who died Dec. 28, 1990; a brother, William Thompson; and her sisters, Anne Anderson and Marie Bellinger.

She is survived by seven daughters and five sons-in-law, Joan D. "Bunny" Bell of Sparks, Nev., Sydney Sue "Syd" Garrant and her companion Dr. David Walter of Plattsburgh, Marie Louise "Mary Lou" and Joseph Gerardi of Cadyville, Margaret Ann "Peg" and Timothy O'Connell of Peru, N.Y., Katherine Ellen "Katie" and George Dyer of Plattsburgh, Carol Jane Duquette and Robert L. Weisenreder of Rochester, N.Y., and Lisa Lynn and Lt. Col. John Boule, U.S. Army, of Burke, Va.; a sister, Sue Ellen Gettens and her husband Robert T. of Wilmington, N.Y.; eight granddaughters; seven grandsons; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

At Joan's request, there will be no calling hours.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at 1 p.m. at St. Mary's of the Lake Church, Cumberland Head.

Interment will follow in St. Mary's of the Lake Cemetery.

Friends wishing may make donations to Seton Catholic School to the Sidney and Joan Duquette Scholarship Fund, the Beekmantown Central School to the Sidney and Joan Duquette Scholarship Fund or to St. Mary's of the Lake Church.

Dorothy Louise Provost

Plattsburgh — Dorothy Louise Provost, 63, of South Peru Street, passed away Wednesday, May 19, 2004, at the CVPH Medical Center.

She was born in North Hampton, Mass., on Feb. 25, 1941, the daughter of Nelson Joseph and Mary Mandy (Godin) Puryea.

She enjoyed playing cards, doing crossword puzzles and watching television.

Dorothy was predeceased by her parents and several family members.

She is survived by a son, Robert J. Provost and his companion Tracey Collins of Schenectady; a daughter, Connie Seymour and her companion Robert Morrow of Plattsburgh; three grandchildren, Kristina LaBombard and her husband Robert of Plattsburgh, Jennifer Seymour of Plattsburgh and Robert J. Provost Jr. of Plattsburgh; a sister, Joyce Favro and her husband Frank of Huntsville, Texas; a brother, Nelson "Tin Tin" Puryea Jr. of Florida; a daughter-in-law, Brenda Provost of Plattsburgh; a former son-in-law, Danny Seymour of Plattsburgh; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Saturday from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh.

A funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Brown Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. William G. Reamer, chaplain at CVPH Medical Center, officiating.

Interment will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may make donations to the family.

Rita C. Tourville

Plattsburgh — Mrs. Rita C. Tourville, 84, of Cornelia Street in Plattsburgh, passed away May 18, 2004, at Fletcher Allen Medical Center in Burlington, Vt.

She was born in Ellenburg, N.Y., on Nov. 25, 1919, the daughter of Edgar LaClair and Flora (Lash) LaClair.

Rita was a member of St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh. She had been employed at Trustitch in Malone for several years. Rita was an avid bingo player with Donna Tourville.

She is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Shirley Tourville of Morrisonville, Bruce and Dee Tourville of Flora City, Fla., Robert and Debby Tourville of Hilton, N.Y., and Chester and Dale Tourville of Lyons Falls; one sister, Beatrice Dumas of Plattsburgh; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Rita was predeceased by her husband, Leo C. Tourville, who passed away on Oct. 4, 1985; one daughter, Gloria Tourville; she was also predeceased by three sisters and two brothers.

Calling hours will be Sunday from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. from St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will follow in St. Edmund's Cemetery in Ellenburg Depot.

Friends wishing may have Masses said in her memory.

David F. Corron

PLATTSBURGH — David F. Corron, 50, of Manor Drive, died Tuesday, May 18, 2004, at the CVPH Medical Center.

He was born in Plattsburgh on Oct. 4, 1953, the son of Leo and Leda (Gonyea) Corron.

David married Gail Badger in West Chazy in 1982.

He worked as a janitor for the Plattsburgh State University College for 30 years.

Mr. Corron was a member of St. Joseph's Church. He was a 3rd Degree Knight at the Knights of Columbus, Council 255, a member of the Moose Lodge and a former member of the Elks Club.

He was an avid NASCAR racing fan and loved watching football.

Survivors include his wife, Gail Corron of Plattsburgh; one daughter, Emily Corron of Plattsburgh; his mother, Leda Defayette of Beekmantown; one brother, James Corron and his wife Jenny of Plattsburgh; two sisters, Mrs. George (Joanne) Rabideau of West Chazy and Mrs. Bill (Theresa) Seymour of Plattsburgh; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church in West Chazy.

Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to Special Olympics or to the American Heart Association.

Myrtle Premore

Silver Springs, Fla. — Myrtle Premore, 86, of Silver Springs, a retired factory worker, died Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004, at the Lady Lake Specialty Care.

A native of Rouses Point, N.Y., she moved to Silver Springs from Plattsburgh, N.Y., in 1982.

Mrs. Premore was a member of Our Lady of the Springs Catholic Church.

Survivors include her son, David L. Premore of Ocala; sisters Irene Major of Rouses Point and Genevieve Cyr of Stuart; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence.

Arrangements were with the Hiers Funeral Home of Ocala, Fla.

Florence K. Weiffenbach

Columbus, Ohio — Florence "Flo" K. Weiffenbach, 91, died Sunday, Dec. 13, 2003, at Manor Care, Columbus, Ohio.

She was born in Plattsburgh on May 17, 1912, to John and Norma (Light) Premore.

Survivors include a son Norman; two grandchildren; one great-grandson; sisters Helen L. Staley and Eva M. Dorsch, both of Silver Springs, Fla.; a brother, Francis J. Premore Sr. of Plattsburgh, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.

Flo was predeceased by her husband, Carl E. Weiffenbach; and parents John and Norma Premore.

A memorial service was held Friday, Dec. 19, 2003.

Arrangements by Evans Funeral Home, 4171 E. Livingston Ave., Columbus.

Mary Jane Carota, 79, died Thursday, May 21, 2004, at Saratoga Hospital in Saratoga Springs.

Arrangements were incomplete Thursday evening at the ONeill-Redden-Drown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.

ETHEL M. HEBERT, 84, died Thursday, May 20, 2004, at Cedar Hedge Nursing Home in Rouses Point.

There will be no calling hours. A full obituary will appear in Saturday’s Press-Republican. Arrangements are with M.B. Clark Funeral Home in Champlain.
