Gladys Ellen Ferguson Abair

Port Henry — Gladys Ellen Ferguson Abair, 89, of Brook Street, Port Henry died at Lakeside Nursing Home on May 15, 2004, after a short illness.

Born Sept. 18, 1914, Gladys was the daughter of the late Oscar and Phila (Strong) Ferguson of Port Henry.

Gladys was predeceased by her husband, Fred Abair; and grandson, Stephen D. Abair. Also predeceasing Gladys were three brothers, Harold, Clarence and Oscar Ferguson.

Gladys is survived by a son, Wayne F. Abair of Ithica; one grandson, Matthew D. Abair and his wife Barbara; three great-grandchildren, Caleb, Bethany and Moriah of Anchorage, Alaska; two sisters, Ruth Ferguson Mullen of Mineville and Ortha Ferguson Tryon of Westport; one brother, George Ferguson of Florida, formerly of Chi1son, N.Y.; many nieces and nephews.

Gladys graduated from Port Henry High School and a two year business school. She devoted her life to family, community and church. She was a member of the Port Henry Methodist Church, served on various committees and was an avid reader of the Bible.

Calling hours for Gladys will be held Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Harland Funeral Home in Port Henry. A funeral service will be conducted by Rev. John Clarke, Thursday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a graveside service in Union Cemetery, Port Henry.

Those wishing may send memorials to the Town of Moriah Ambulance Squad, Moriah, NY.

Cynthia A. Flint-Ferguson

Freeport, Maine — Cynthia A. Flint-Ferguson, 45, died unexpectedly on Jan. 24, 2004, at a Brunswick Hospital.

She was born in Schenectady a daughter of Donald and Florence (Speyer) Flint, formerly of Hudson Falls.

She was a life member of the United Methodist Church in Hudson Falls.

Cyndi was a Russell Sage College Kellas Scholar, earning her bachelor of arts in 1980. Cyndi also completed her master of arts in 1981, in an accelerated master's program at Colgate University. She completed her college practicum as a counselor at Hudson Falls High School, as well as the Hamilton County Correctional Facility.

After graduating, she held various counselor/evaluator positions for the Community Workshop in Glens Falls; Pathways in Auburn, Maine; Department Human Services in Lewiston, Maine; CIGNA and Insurance, Portland, Maine. Working as a consultant, she developed psychometric tests with the Jewish Employment and Vocational Service (JEVS) of Philadelphia, Pa. She was a guidance counselor for the Gardiner Middle School, Maine. Most recently, Cyndi was a substitute teacher for the Freeport School System and vocational expert providing expert testimony in disability cases for the Social Security Administration's Office of Hearings and Appeals in Portland.

Above all she was a devoted mother who adored her children, who in turn adored her. Cyndi was truly a perfectionist and enjoyed all life's challenges. She was accomplished in many crafts and artistic pursuits and enjoyed gardening, music, books and time spent on the Coast.

Survivors in addition to her parents of Ormond Beach, Fla., are her husband, Jeremiah J. Ferguson; her children, Moses Ferguson and Emeline Ferguson, all of Freeport, Maine; a sister, Donna Flint-Wheeler of Allentown, Pa.; a brother, William Flint of Durham, Maine; and four nephews.

Funeral services were held in Yarmouth, Maine.

Spring Interment will take place on Friday, May 21, 2004, at 1 p.m. at the family plot of the Valley View Cemetery of Ticonderoga. The Rev. Paul L. Dufford, pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Ticonderoga, will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Freeport School System, 17 West Street, Freeport, ME 04032.

Local arrangement are under the direction of the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home of Ticonderoga.

Margaret F. "Peg" Ciccateri, 79, of Prestwick Chase, died on Monday, Jan. 26, 2004, at Saratoga Hospital in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church in Dannemora, N.Y. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home.

Rita C. Tourville, 84, of Cornelia Street, Plattsburgh, died May 18, 2004, at Fletcher Allen Medical Center in Burlington, Vt.

She was born in Ellenburg, N.Y., on Nov. 25, 1919, the daughter of Edgar LeClair and Flora (Lash) LeClair.

Calling hours will be Sunday from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. from St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will follow in St. Edmund's Cemetery in Ellenburg Depot.
