Inez S. Fitzpatrick

PLATTSBURGH — Inez S. Fitzpatrick, 100, formerly of Dannemora, died Sunday, May 16, 2004, in the Skilled Nursing Facility at the CVPH Medical Center where she had resided for four years.

She was born in Beekmantown on Nov. 21, 1903, the daughter of Joseph A. Willett and Nellie M. (Bosquet) Willett.

She married Charles Emerson Fitzpatrick on Aug. 27, 1930, at St. Joseph’s Church in West Chazy. Mr. Fitzpatrick died on July 26, 1974.

Inez was a member of St. Peter’s Church in Plattsburgh and was a member of the Rosary-Altar Society of St. Peter’s Church. She loved to crochet and was considered the "Family Switchboard," keeping track of all family members.

Survivors include one son and his wife, Dr. Lawrence J. and Nancy Fitzpatrick of Knoxville, Tenn.; one sister, Ethel Darrah of Plattsburgh; four grandchildren, Sandra Greenlee, Kathleen Harrison, Laurie Fitzpatrick and Lisa A. Hecht; five great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by one daughter, Margaret Bier, and one sister, Flora Newell.

Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in St. Peter’s Church in Plattsburgh.

Burial will follow in the St. Alexander’s Cemetery in Morrisonville.

Donations in her memory may be made to the Skilled Nursing Facility at the CVPH Medical Center.

Morris "Bubby" R. Favaro

CADYVILLE — Morris "Bubby" R. Favaro, 77, of Cadyville, entered eternal rest on May 15, 2004, surrounded by his loving family and friends, after battling a long illness.

Bubby was born in Cadyville on Sept. 19, 1926, son o the late Perley and Sadie (Tormey) Favaro. He was retired from Frank Akey Properties in 1992 as maintenance supervisor. During his life, Bubby worked for Luck Brothers Construction, Dannemora Prison Steam Plant, and Gas and Electric. He also built many houses around the Cadyville area with his father and brothers. Bubby served his country as a seaman first class in the Navy during World War II.

He was a member of the Cadyville Volunteer Fire Department from 1952 to the present. During this time he held the position of fire chief from 1967 to 1978 and assistant chief periodically. In 1981 Bubby was elected to the Board of Fire Commissioners which he served till present. In 2002 he was awarded a special national recognition for his 50 years of continuous service to the Cadyville Volunteer Fire Department.

Bubby had many hobbies that included hunting, fishing, and carpentry, which he enjoyed with his children and grandchildren. His favorite hunting spot was the mountains around Taylor Pond.

He was united in marriage to Beverly J. Marshall on Sept. 18, 1950, and enjoyed 54 years of marriage at the time of his death.

Survivors include his wife, Beverly (Marshall) Favaro; six children, James and Julie (Favaro) Spooner of Morristown, N.Y., Jon and Kim Favaro of Dawsonville, Ga., Jeri Lynn Favaro of White Plains, N.Y., James Favaro and companion Christina Raudenbush of Cadyville, Jeff and Charlene Favaro of Cadyville and Jeffery and Jennifer (Favaro) Clayton of Louisville, Ky.

Bubby was blessed with nine grandchildren, Jason Lamberton of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Josh and Melissa (Lamberton) Martin of Cortland, N.Y., Jessica and Jeremy Favaro of Cadyville, Joshua and Jay Favaro of Suwanne, Ga.; Jenna, Jacob and Justin Clayton of Louisville, Ky.; one great-grandchild, Carter Martin of Cortland; and one granddog, Max.

He is also survived by three brothers, Ralph and Gerry Favaro, Tormey and Sophie Favro, Phillip (Muggsy) and Jane Favro; and three sisters, Cecil and Theresa (Favaro) Gillette, Doris (Favaro) Butler and Thomas and Beverly (Favaro) Stevens; and a brother-in-law, Gene Reil.

He was predeceased by his parents; two brothers, Donald Favaro and Wayne Favaro; and two sisters, Marion Favaro Smeltzer and Phillis (Favaro) Reil.

Bubby was loved by many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Calling hours will be held at R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh on today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Members of the Cadyville Fire Department and members of the Clinton County Fireman’s Association will meet at 7 p.m. for a memorial service. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home immediately followed by a fireman’s procession to Cadyville and a reception at the St. James Church Hall.

Donations may be made to the Cadyville Volunteer Fire Department Rescue Squad for the purchase of a new (AED) automatic external defibrillator.

Dorothy K. Southmayd

PEASLEEVILLE — Dorothy K. Southmayd, 84, of Ore Bed Road, Peasleeville, died Sunday, May 16, 2004 at Meadowbrook Nursing Home in Plattsburgh.

She was born in Lake Placid Sept. 25, 1919, the daughter of Vernon M. and Harriet (Washburn) Kennedy.

Dorothy was a waitress for many years at the Midtown Motel in Plattsburgh. Mrs. Southmayd was a member of the United Methodist Women. She enjoyed knitting, cooking and especially enjoyed spending time with her family.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Earl and Carol Southmayd of Schuyler Falls; a daughter and son-in-law, Lana and Eugene Fournier of Plant City, Fla.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph A. Southmayd; a sister, Margaret Warington; and a brother, Daniel F. Kennedy.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Peru. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Peasleeville Zion Church with the Rev. Sally White, pastor of the Keeseville and Harkness United Methodist Churches, officiating. Burial will follow in the North Elba Cemetery in Lake Placid.

Donations in her memory may be made to the Peasleeville Zion Church.

BERNICE M. DEGON, 80, of 31 Lovers Lane Road, Malone, died Saturday, May 15, 2004, at Alice Hyde Nursing Home in Malone.

Born in Lake Placid on Aug. 24, 1923, she was the daughter of the late William and Agnes (Pelkey) Patterson.

Calling hours will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home in Malone. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11 a.m. in St. John Bosco Church Malone, with burial following in the parish cemetery.
