Irma J. Halen

Willsboro — Irma J. Halen, 84, of Willsboro, N.Y., died at the Horace Nye Home in Elizabethtown Sunday, May 2, 2004.

She was born in Kittery, Maine, Dec. 2, 1919, the daughter of Harry and Edith (Dunphy) Wyman.

She was the matron and her husband the superintendent of the Essex County Home and Infirmary in Whallonsburgh for many years. She was a very active member of the Willsboro United Methodist Church and served as a church trustee. She is remembered for her tireless work ethic and her willingness to tackle any project. Those who knew her never asked for an opinion without expecting an absolutely truthful response. Everyone who came in contact with Irma took something away. She was the consummate teacher. She knew how to turn work into fun. Generosity, hardwork, laughter, a cup of tea and conversation all describe her. She will be dearly missed.

Irma is survived by her children and their spouses, Dixie and Reldon Gifford of Glasgow, Ky., Howard (Tom) and Mary Ann Halen of Riverside, Calif., Vicki and Randy Dickerson of Willsboro, Becky Lessack of Quakertown, N.J., Jodi and Mike Osborne of Palm Beach City, Fla., and Chester (Chet) Halen of Willsboro; ten grandchildren and their spouses; Candy and Michael Forsythe, Kathy and Dean Warren, Lee and Marty Gifford, William and Janet Gifford, Tom and Rachel Halen, Brian Halen, Chip and Traci Dickerson, Jill and Jim Davis, Seth Lessack and Joshua Lessack; 18 great-grandchildren, Joey, Casey, Cara and Andrew Forsythe, Holly and Jimmy Warren, Jesse, Thomas and Amy Gifford, Halen and McCarty Gifford, Samantha and Danielle Halen, Heather Halen, Kaitlin and Connor Dickerson, Emily and Ben Davis; sisters, Thelma and Ruby Wyman of Kittery, Maine; sisters-in-law, Helen Calkins of Willsboro, Barb Wyman and Marion Wyman, both of Kittery, Maine; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Howard in 1978; brothers, Ernie, Joe, Bud, Bill; and sisters, Eddie, Molly and Emma.

At Irma's request there will be no scheduled services. Following cremation she will be buried with her husband in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va.

Those wishing to make a donation in her memory may direct it to the Willsboro United Methodist Church Memorial Fund or the Willsboro Fire Dept. or the Horace Nye Home Activities Fund.

The Huestis Funeral Home in Willsboro is in charge of arrangements.

Virginia J. Jordan

Mooers — Virginia J. "Susie" Jordan, 76, died Tuesday, May 4, 2004, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh after a long courageous battle with cancer.

She was born in Detroit, Mich., on Nov. 14, 1927, the daughter of George and Rose (Boulerice) Gokey.

She was a member of St. Joseph's Church and was a charter member of the Mooers Fire Department Auxiliary.

She is survived by her children, George and his companion Lori Young of West Chazy, Linda and Timothy Santana of Martinsburg, W. Va., Kathryn and Christopher Young of Rouses Point and William Bosley of Mooers; a stepdaughter, Shelley and Robert Butterfield of Burlington, Vt.; a brother and sister in law, Albert and Phyllis Gokey of Rouses Point; two sisters, Jenny Demers of Rouses Point and Bernice Demers of Chazy; 12 grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

Her first husband, Roger Bosley, and second husband, Robert Jordan died earlier. Two brothers, Carl and Leeward Gokey; and two sisters, Pauline Gokey and Marie Demers also died earlier.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the E.F. Drown Funeral Service in Mooers. Members of the Mooers Knights of Columbus are asked to meet at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home for services. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday from St. Joseph's Church in Mooers. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Mooers Fire Department, Mooers Rescue Squad or the FitzPatrick Cancer Center.

Reva Marie Gagnier, 90, formerly of Lakeview Ave, Tupper Lake, died Sunday, May 2, 2004, at the Uihlein Mercy Center in Lake Placid.

She was born Sept. 9, 1913, in Dickinson Center, N.Y., the daughter of Thomas and Alvina Marie (Ploof) Villnave.

A funeral Mass will be held at St. Alphonsus Parish Friday, May 7, 2004, at 12 noon. Burial at St. Alphonsus Cemetery will follow.

JON W. SCOTT, 22, of County Route 38, Constable, N.Y., died Sunday, May 2, 2004, as a result of an ATV accident.

He was born May 6, 1981, in Malone, N.Y., the son of William and Sharon Perrea Scott.

Calling hours will be Thursday, May 6, 2004, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the St. Mary-Murphy Funeral Home chapel.

A funeral service will be conducted Thursday at 3 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will take place in St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery, Constable, N.Y.

Cheryl Clara LaViolette Dukett, died on Saturday, May 1, 2004, surrounded by her family in Fletcher Allen Health Care, Burlington, Vt.

A remembrance gathering will be held in late May.

Arrangements will be made by Troy Pudvah.
