Published: 4/30/04Grace E. (Huntington) SmithPutnam Station — Grace E. (Huntington) Smith, 85, of Putnam Station, passed away Thursday, April 29, 2004, at her residence. Born in Dresden on Oct. 29, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Leonard and May (Martindale) Huntington. Mrs. Smith was a resident of Putnam Station for most of her life. She will be fondly remembered by her cherished family mostly as a loving mother and grandmother, who enjoyed nature and flower gardening. She was predeceased by her first husband, Vernon Mattison and her second husband, Roy A. Smith. She was also predeceased by her son, David Mattison; her son-in-law, James Dickerson; three brothers; and five sisters. Survivors include two sons, Gary Smith and his wife Susan of Putnam Station and Alfred Mattison and his wife Sally of Putnam Station; five daughters, Patricia Wilson and her husband Richard of Putnam Station, Norma Dickerson of Ticonderoga, Joan Moore of Putnam Station, Constance Smith and her husband Samuel of Putnam Station and Darlene Hagar and her husband Bill of Putnam Station; two brothers, Scott Huntington of Glens Falls and William Huntington of Clemons; and two sisters, Katherine Suddard of Port Henry and Mildred Mattison of Ticonderoga. She is also survived by many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. There will be no calling hours, A graveside service will take place Tuesday, May 4, 2004, at 1 p.m. at the family plot of the Meadow Knoll Cemetery of Putnam Station. The Rev. Floyd Freed will officiate. The service is open to all relatives and friends. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home of Ticonderoga. Anthony W. "Andy" SeeleySchroon Lake — Anthony W. "Andy" Seeley, 42, died late Tuesday evening, April 27, 2004, at his home at 164 Alder Meadow Road, after an extended and brave battle with cancer. Andy was born March 19, 1962, in Elizabethtown, N.Y., the son of Richard N. and Lena (McCoy) Seeley Sr. Andy was a graduate of Schroon Lake Central School and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1981 to 1985. Andy was the owner of Seeley’s Bait and Tackle Shop at his home since 1997. He was a building contractor for several years, was a dealer for water pumps and worked for several area contractors over the years. Andy loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping and boating; he was a registered guide for several years. Andy truly enjoyed golf, especially the Chesterton Men’s League and playing in the Best Ball golf tournaments around the North Country. He loved everyone and everything, especially his children, his family and his many friends. In addition to his parents, survivors include his wife of 19 years, Veronica (Wholecheese) Seeley of Schroon Lake; four daughters, Margaret Baranoff of Plattsburgh, Andrea Lynn, Bella Marie and Celena Jean Seeley, all of Schroon Lake; his brothers, Richard N. Seeley Jr., stationed with the U.S. Air Force in San Antonio, Texas, and Clarence L. Seeley of Malta, N.Y.; three nephews; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Friends may call at the Edward L. Kelly Funeral Home, Schroon Lake, on Saturday from 2:30 until 5 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday afternoon at 5 p.m. at the funeral home. Cremation will follow. Sally Jean TrudeauTiconderoga — Sally Jean Trudeau, 68, of Montcalm Street, passed away Thursday, April 29, 2004, at the Moses-Ludington Nursing Home of Ticonderoga. Born in Ticonderoga on Oct. 24, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Mary (Gregory) Trudeau. Mrs. Trudeau was a resident of Ticonderoga for most of her life. She was employed as a waitress in several local restaurants prior to raising her family. She was predeceased by her husband, George Trombley. Survivors include two daughters, Vernila Jane Trombley and Kellie Lee Trombley, both of Ticonderoga; two brothers, Francis (Junior) Trudeau Jr. and Ernest Trudeau, both of Ticonderoga; two sisters, Stella Smell of Goldvista, Fla., and Marylou Levins of Narragansett, R.I. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will take place Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home, 11 Algonkin St., Ticonderoga. Thomas C. VititowGlenville, N.Y. — Thomas C. Vititow, 69, of Dongan Avenue, Glenville, died on Tuesday, April 27, 2004, at the Albany Medical Center, Albany, N.Y., after a long and valiant fight with cancer. He was born on Aug. 17, 1934, in Peoria, Ill, the son of the late William and Gertrude (Fortman) Vititow. A former resident of Plattsburgh, N.Y., he had lived in this area for 21 years. He was a square-dance caller throughout New England and Canada. He was also a well known round-dance cuer. He was also employed at the Midway Barber Shop in Colonie until his illness. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving from 1952 to 1956 and an avid gardener and wood worker. He is survived by his wife, Beverly (Johnson) Vititow, whom he married in 1955; three sons, William A. and his wife Chieko of Scotia, Robert A. and his wife Lan of Binghamton, N.Y., and John M. and his wife Taylor of Wellington, Fla.; one daughter, Jean M. Thompson and her husband Sean of Cornwall-On-The-Hudson; one brother, Robert Vititow of East Peoria, Ill.; four sisters, Diane Tockes of West Peoria, Sally Grace of Canton, Ill., Roseanne Hopp of Metamora, Ill., and Nanette Vayko of Sterling Heights, Mich.; and ten grandchildren. He was predeceased by two sons, Michael and James Vititow. Calling hours will be held on Friday, April 30th, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the White Funeral Home, 264 N. Ballston Ave., (Rte 50), Scotia. A Mass of Christian burial, to which relatives and friends are invited, will be held on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church, 331 Seward Place, Schenectady. Cremation will follow the funeral Mass. Contribution can be made to the American Field Services, 198 Madison Ave., New York, NY 10016. Marion M. Brady, 96, of Westville Center, died Wednesday, April 28, 2004, at the Franklin County Nursing Home in Malone, where she had been a resident since January 2000. Born in Malone on Aug. 20, 1907, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Matilda (Boyea) Robinson. Calling hours will be Saturday, May 1, from noon until 2 p.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Church in Constable. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 2 p.m. in the church, with the Rev. Francis Flynn, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Arrangements are through the Cappiello-McKenzie and Cosgrove Funeral Home in Ft. Covington. Herman Gadway, 84, formerly of Rand Hill Road, Morrisonville, died on Wednesday, April 28, 2004, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. He was born in Beekmantown on March 22, 1920. Funeral arrangements will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Whispering Maples Mausoleum in Plattsburgh. Arrangements with Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. ALLEN P. "ALLIE" BROWN, 75, of 253 Lake Flower Ave., Saranac Lake, died Wednesday, April 28, 2004 at his home. Born in Bloomingdale on Sept. 1, 1928, he was the son of Everett and Margaret (Gonyea) Brown. Visitation is tentatively scheduled for Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. A veterans service will be held at 7:30 p.m. followed by a Bible vigil service at 7:45. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:15 a.m. Tuesday at St. Bernard’s Church in Saranac Lake with the Rev. Kevin McEwan officiating. Cremation will follow with burial in Brookside Cemetery in Bloomingdale. THE REV. ROGER M. MARTIN, 84, a retired priest and missionary of 25 School Hill Road, Baltic, Conn., died Wednesday, April 28, 2004 at St. Joseph Living Center, Windham, Conn., after a lengthy illness. Born in West Shefford, Quebec, on Jan. 11, 1920, he was the son of the late Rodolphe and Marion Dorila (LaBlance) Martin. Visiting hours are 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at St. Mary’s Church, 70 West Main Street, Baltic, Conn. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Monday at noon. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Taftville, Conn. |
