Published: 4/20/04Ruth F. GordonEllenberg Center — Ruth F. Gordon, 97, died in her own home surrounded by her daughter, granddaughter, son-in-law and loving aide Sandra King on April 11, 2004. She was born in Baltimore, Md., Nov. 17, 1906, daughter of the late Eva and Joseph Fields. Sister of the late Alice (Fields) Lang, Milton Fields, Arthur Fields and Leon Fields. Ruth was the loving and devoted wife to the late William McKinley Gordon; devoted mother and mother-in-law to Judith Gordon Schroeder and Horst Schroeder of Claverack and Ellenburg; mother to Joel D. Gordon of East Greenbush; and devoted, loving and generous grandmother to Jennifer Honen of Slingerlands, Timothy K. Howie of North Greenbush and John K. Howie of Houston, Texas, along with Kate and Carrie Gordon of New Lebanon; and great- grandmother to Emily, Nicholas, Paul and Jennifer. Ruth was employed for over 20 years by the Federal Department of Housing and Urban Development in New York City. She had an avid interest in crossword puzzles, card playing and reading. She did not enjoy condiments on her meat or cut flowers, preferring instead to enjoy flowers in their natural habitat. Services will be private. Mary "Bette" AshlineOcala, FlA. / Champlain, NY — Bette Ashline died with her family beside her on April 17, 2004, at the Legacy House in Ocala, Fla. Bette was born on May 24, 1929, in Champlain, N.Y., a daughter of Grover and Elsie Mussen Ashline. She was also a descendent of Prisque Asselin, Captain Antoine Paulin and Bruno Tremblay, all of who fought in the Revolutionary War. She attended
Champlain High School and graduated with the class of 1947 and She was a firm believer in physical fitness and her personal interests included walking, jogging, bicycling and cross-country skiing. She also had a deep appreciation for the arts and enjoyed painting and crafts. Bette is survived
by five sisters who include, Dotty Gibson of Sarasota, Fla., Addy
Barnes of Garden City, N.Y., Helen Root of Liverpool, N.Y., Laura
Pelkey of Rouses Point, N.Y., and Gloria Ashline of Ocala, Fla. She is
also Besides her
parents, she was predeceased by one brother, Gerald Ashline in 1998;
and one sister, Memorial services for Bette will be announced at a later date with interment in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Coopersville, N.Y. Catherine E. LattrellKeeseville — Catherine E. Lattrell, 88, of Church Street, Keeseville, died Monday, April 19, 2004, at the Meadowbrook Nursing Home in Plattsburgh. She was born in Charlotte, Vt., Jan. 6, 1916, the daughter of Frank and Philomene (Benoit) Lavalette. She moved to Keeseville and met the love of her life, William V. Lattrell, at Stoughton’s Family Farm, where she worked. They married May 29, 1933, at St. John’s Church in Keeseville. Catherine worked for Keeseville National Bank. Prior to that she worked at Betty’s Cleaners. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters and the Altar Rosary Society. She enjoyed cooking and loved spending time with her family. She also enjoyed sending cards to family and friends. Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, William and Ann Lattrell of Westville, Ill., Alfred "Skip" and Margaret Lattrell of Raritan, N.J., and Robert "Bob" and Joanne Lattrell of Keeseville; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Janice and Bud Cooley of Wilmington, N.C., Loretta Rose of Castle Hayne, N.C., and Joan "‘Jill" and Richard Wood of Keeseville; 24 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; daughters-in-law, Maureen Lattrelle of Plattsburgh and Julie Lattrell of Keeseville; many nieces and nephews; her dog, Ginger. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, William V. Lattrell; sons, Edwin "Bucky" Lattrelle and John "Jack" Lattrell; grandson, John L. Cooley II; and brothers and sisters, Philomene, Mitchell, Harry, Rose, Madeline, Edmond, Charles, Melvina, Agnes, Alfred, Blanche and Arthur. Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Keeseville. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Church in Keeseville. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to Hospice of the North Country; the Keeseville Rescue Squad; or the FitzPatrick Cancer Center. Margaret MeierWILLSBORO — Margaret Meier, 101, of the Point Road, Willsboro, N.Y., died Sunday evening after a short illness. She was born in Yonkers, N.Y., Nov. 25, 1902, the daughter of Otto A. and Elizabeth (Biese) Ehle. Mrs. Meier was a homemaker, a member of the United Congregational Church of Christ in Willsboro, the Women’s Fellowship and the Willsboro-Essex Golden Agers. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Arlene and Robert P. Bigelow; three grandchildren; and six great-grand-children. There are no services scheduled at this time. Donations in her memory may be made to the church or the Westport Animal Shelter. Arrangements are entrusted to the Huestis Funeral Home in Willsboro. Matthew Timothy Sukel, 28, of Bennington, Vt., died Saturday, April 17, 2004. He was born in Bennington, Vt., Nov. 11, 1975, the son of Richard and Joyce (Vaughan) Sukel. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Essex, N.Y., on Wednesday April 21, 2004, at 11 a.m. Rev. James Delbel will officiate. Burial will follow in Whallons Bay Cemetery, Essex, N.Y. Arrangements are entrusted to the Huestis Funeral Home, Willsboro, N.Y. Raymond C. Sullivan, 84, formerly of Hillside Avenue, Malone, died, Saturday evening, April 17, 2004, at the Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone. He was born in Chasm Falls, N.Y., on Aug. 30, 1919, the son of the late John and Ella Nicklaw Sullivan. Calling hours will be in the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home in Malone on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, April 22, 2004, at 10 a.m. in Notre Dame Church in Malone. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Mark Robert Renaud, 42, of San Antonio, Texas, and formerly of Plattsburgh, died, Saturday, April 17, 2004, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. He was born in Molesworth, England on Sept. 15, 1961. Calling hours will be Thursday April 22, 2004, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday, April 23, 2004, at 11 a.m. from St. Peter’s in Plattsburgh, Burial will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery with full military honors provided by the U.S. Air Force. GRAVESIDE SERVICESEVERGREEN Cemetery — Graveside services for Kelly L. Sousis, and Oliver N. Blaise will be held Friday at 9:00 a.m. and Francis A. Bezio at 9:15 a.m. at the Evergreen Cemetery in Keeseville. Military honors for Mr. Blaise and Mr. Bezio will follow. Arrangements are with the Hamilton Funeral Home. Peru Cemetery — Graveside services for Harris H. Merrill and Charlotte E. Agoney will be held Thursday at 9 a.m. at the Peru Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Hamilton Funeral Home. Harkness Cemetery — A graveside service for Jack E. Baker, 36, of the Fred Thew Road, Peru will be held Wednesday at 9 a.m. at the Harkness Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Hamilton Funeral Home. WOOD — A graveside service for Florence M. Wood, formerly of Route 22, Plattsburgh, who died on Jan. 14, 2004, will be held on Wednesday, April 21, 2004, at 9 a.m. in the Stafford Cemetery in Beekmantown. Arrangements are by the R.W.
