Published: 10/30/04Richard J. "Dick" TromblyNorton, Mass. — Richard J. "Dick" Trombly, 69, of Todd Drive Extension, Norton, Mass., died unexpectedly at his residence on March 15, 2004. He was the husband of the late Sally H. (Harter) Trombly, to whom he was married for 46 years and who died on July 5, 2001. Born in Plattsburgh, N.Y., on Nov. 24, 1934, he was a son of the late Joseph A. and Flora M. (Allard) Trombly. He resided in Plattsburgh until moving to Norton two years ago. A native and longtime resident of Plattsburgh, Mr. Trombly taught English and social studies in the Plattsburgh school system for more than 30 years prior to his retirement in 1989. Known affectionately as "Mr. T.", he inspired many students with his cartoon drawings and trademark sayings. He ran a student comic club throughout the 1970's that collected hundreds of valuable comics from famous illustrators around the world. He was an avid collector of antique toys and other memorabilia and was a jazz aficionado. Mr. Trombly was a member of Murray Unitarian- Universalist Church, Attleboro, Mass., for the past two years. He is survived by two daughters, Shelly T. Freddo and her husband Bill Freddo, both of Attleboro and Lisa Parsons and her husband Bill Parsons, both of Manchester, N.H.; and three grandchildren, Chris Freddo, Sarah Freddo and Jeffrey Parsons. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday, March 27, 2004, at 2 p.m. at the Murray Unitarian-Universalist Church, 505 North Main St., Attleboro, with the Rev. Sandra Fitz-Henry, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the Murray Unitarian - Universalist Church Memorial Garden, Attleboro. Visitation has been respectfully omitted. Bailey, 91, of the Peasleeville Road, died Saturday, March 20, 2004, at the Clinton County Nursing Home in Plattsburgh. She was born in Tupper Lake on Oct. 21, 1912, the daughter of Peter and Lydia (Gardner) Mere. Ellen married Albert J. Bailey, Feb. 27, 1933, in Tupper Lake. She enjoyed baking, knitting, cooking and especially enjoyed spending time with her family. Survivors include her son, Richard Bailey; two daughters and sons-in-law, (Carol) Ann and Mahlon Wright and Denise and Winston Wright, all of Peasleeville; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Ellen was predeceased by her husband, Albert J. Bailey; a son, Dennis Bailey; sisters, Edna Gale, Laura Benjamin and Betty Facteau; brothers, Dennis Mere and Ovila Mere; and a daughter-in-law, Shirley Marcotte Bailey. Calling hours will be held Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Peru. Burial will be in the spring in St. Patrick's Cemetery on the Patent Road in Peru. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Peru Rescue Squad. Alice M. ForrettPlattsburgh — Mrs. Alice M. Forrett, 66, of Rte 22 in West Chazy, died Friday, March 19, 2004, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. She was born in Plattsburgh on Aug. 31, 1937, daughter of the late Robert and Mary (Daniels) Reeves. Alice and her husband Joseph had raised 32 foster children. She is survived by her husband Joseph, whom she married on Oct. 8, 1960, at St. Ann's Church in Mooers Forks; one daughter, Cindy Lee Forrett of San Francisco, Calif.; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Shirley LaFountain of Mooers Forks, Nancy and Donald Duprey of Peesleeville and Brenda Wells of Plattsburgh; and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Monday, March 22, 2004, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday, March 23, 2004, at 11 a.m. from St. Joseph's Church in West Chazy. Burial will be later this year in the St. Ann's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation. |
