Norman A. Denny

Plattsburgh — Norman A. Denny, 84, formerly of West Chazy, passed away on Wednesday, March 17, 2004, at the Clinton County Nursing Home. He was born in Ogdensburg on July 1, 1919, son of William and Margaret (Needle) Denny.

Norm was a graduate of Ogdensburg Free Academy. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army, seeing action in the European Theater.

Norm had been employed by Diamond National in Plattsburgh, retiring in 1982. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in West Chazy, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 20 in Plattsburgh and the American Legion Post 20 in Plattsburgh. Norm enjoyed bowling, fishing and card games.

Norm is survived by his wife, Catherine A. (LaLonde) Denny of West Chazy; they were married in Notre Dame Church in Ogdensburg on Jan. 9, 1943; four sons and daughters-in-law, Norman W. "Butch" and Shirley Denny of Sherrill, Robert and Marilyn Denny of Morrisonville, Richard and Jane Denny of Fair Haven, N.J., and Jon and Juliette Denny of Beekmantown; a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Michael Kwiatkowski of Black Creek, Wis.; seven grandchildren, Scott, Lisa, Bryant, Andrea, Neil, Ashley and Kellen; and several nieces and nephews.

Norm was predeceased by two brothers, Neil Denny and Carl Denny; as well as two sisters, Geneva Aumell and Barbara Morely.

Calling hours will be Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. Members of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars will meet Friday at 7:30 p.m. for services.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11 a.m. from St. Joseph’s Church in West Chazy. Burial will be later in the year in Notre Dame Cemetery in Ogdensburg.

Donations in Norman Denny’s memory may be made to Clinton County Nursing Home.

Raymond G. ‘"Uncle Buck" King

Saranac — Raymond G. "Uncle Buck" King, 81, of True Brook Road, Saranac, died Wednesday, March 17, 2004, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

He was born in Dannemora, April 22, 1922, the son of Napoleon and Amelia (Agoney) King.

Ray was a veteran of World War II, having served from 1942 to 1945. He received several awards and medals including the Bronze Star.

He married Eunice (Duprey) King in 1945 and they were married for 43 years prior to her death on Nov. 22, 1988.

He retired following 20 years of service with the New York State DOT.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 1619 in West Plattsburgh.

Raymond and his wife spent a great deal of time at "Camp Driftwood," their camp on Union Falls. He was an avid outdoorsman who especially enjoyed fishing and gardening and loved spending time with his family.

Survivors include five sisters and brothers-in-law, his longtime caregivers Theresa and Irvin Rascoe of Saranac, Ella Mae Barber of Chazy Lake, Beatrice Reyor of Blackstone, Mass., Shirley Brown of Chazy and Genevieve and Roderick Heywood of Millville, Mass.; two grandsons, Scott and Cherie King of Fort Polk, La., and Todd King of Keeseville; three great-grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Linda King of Keeseville; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Eunice (Duprey) King; a son, Laurence King, Dec. 12, 2000; and 10 brothers and sisters.

Calling hours will be private and at the convenience of the family. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday at 3 p.m. at St. Augustine’s Church in Peru with Rev. Vicente Jazinines, pastor, celebrating. Full military honors will follow, accorded by the Vermont Air National Guard Honor Guard. Burial will be in the spring in the parish cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Saranac Rescue Squad or the Assumption of Mary Catholic School.

Arrangements are by the Hamilton Funeral Home in Peru.

Harriet D. Reardon

PLATTSBURGH — Harriet D. Reardon, 79, formerly of North Catherine Street, died Wednesday, March 17, 2004, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

She was born in Whitehall, N.Y., on May 15, 1924, the daughter of Edward J. and Sarah A. (Parrott) Reardon Luther.

Harriet, an honor student, graduated from Whitehall High School, Class of 1941. In 1942, she and her parents moved to Plattsburgh where they remained the rest of their lives.

Harriet worked for 20 years at the National Army Store on Margaret Street, two years at the City Chamberlain’s Office and 26 years as a secretary at the State University College in Plattsburgh, until her retirement in August of 1989.

Her main enjoyment in life has been shopping and traveling.

Ms. Reardon was a member of St. John’s Church.

She is survived by four cousins, Harold Parrott and his wife Bertha of Plattsburgh, Theresa Fortin of Plattsburgh and Ruth LaPoint of Plattsburgh.

She was predeceased by her parents; and her stepfather, Tracy W. Luther.

Calling hours will be held Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Church in Plattsburgh.

Burial will be in the spring in St. Peter’s Cemetery.

Wells Frank Nye

Schenectady, N.Y. — Wells F. Nye, 79, of Fenwick Avenue, Schenectady, N.Y., died at Ellis Hospital on March 13, 2004.

Wells was born Sept. 15, 1924, in Upper Jay, N.Y., the son of the late Ross and Grace Torrance Nye.

Wells was a U.S. Navy veteran who served aboard the U.S.S. Bataan in the Pacific Theater. He was employed as a machinist at the General Electric Company until his retirement. He was a member of the G.E. Quarter Century Club.

Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Dorothy Pronto Nye of Schenectady; one son, Ray Nye also of Schenectady; two daughters and their husbands, Lois and Richard Middleton of Edinburg, N.Y., and Barbara and Brian Powles of Delanson, N.Y.; one brother, Emerson Nye of Upper Jay, N.Y.; one sister and brother-in law, Cora Nye Trumbull and William Trumbull; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

There will be no calling hours. Funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Wells’ memory to the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America, Inc., 4 Normanskill Blvd., Delmar, NY 12054 or to the charity of one’s choice.

Edith Grace (Boadway) Spinner, 88, of 11 Williams St., Malone, died Wednesday, March 17, 2004, at the Alice Hyde Medical Center.

She was born Oct. 15, 1915, in Ellenburg, N.Y., the daughter of Nelson and Christine (Trombly) Boadway.

Calling hours will be Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the St. Mary-Murphy Funeral Home chapel. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11:30 a.m. in Notre Dame Church. Spring burial will take place in Notre Dame Cemetery.

Kenneth F. Dustin, 86, of Ft. Covington, N.Y., died Thursday, March 18, 2004, at the Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone, where he had been a patient since February 25th.

He was born in Westville, N.Y., on Feb. 8, 1918, the son of the late Bentley and Fannie (LaBrake) Dustin.

There are no calling hours. Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are through the Cappiello-McKenzie and Cosgrove Funeral Home of Ft. Covington.
