Evangeline "Van" G. Payson

Plattsburgh — Mrs. Evangeline "Van" G. Payson, 91, formerly of Morrison Avenue and most recently the Vilas Home, passed away Friday, March 12, 2004, at the CVPH Medical Center.

She was born in Plattsburgh, N.Y., on Dec. 22, 1912, the daughter of Elmer and Aurora (Bouvia) Gray.

Van was a member of the Ladies of the Elks Plattsburgh Lodge 621, the Ladies Bridge Club and a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church of Plattsburgh. She was an artist who enjoyed painting water colors.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Charles Payson; a daughter, Patsy Lawhorn; and a brother, Tyler Gray.

Van is survived by her children, Judy Alden and her husband Ray of Silverthorne, Colo., Peggy Racine and her husband Maurice of Brandon, Vt., and Charles Payson III and his wife Shelley of Plattsburgh; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews also survive her.

The family will receive guests on Tuesday, March 16, 2004, from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 6 p.m. with the Rev. Paul Heller, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, officiating.

Interment will be at a later date in Riverside Cemetery.

Friends wishing may make donations to the American Diabetes Association.

Marguerite D. Peterson

Plattsburgh — Mrs. Marguerite D. Peterson, 88, of the Tom Miller Road, Plattsburgh, passed away Thursday, March 11, 2004, at the Meadowbrook Health Care Facility.

She was born in La Tuque, Quebec, Canada, on Aug. 29, 1915, the daughter of George and Blanche (Trombley) Dion.

Marguerite was predeceased by a son, Michel Beique.

She is survived by her husband, Austin Peterson; and a daughter, Marie Beique.

There will be no calling hours or services.

Arrangements are by the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh.

Doris Anne Trost

Plattsburgh — Mrs. Doris Anne Trost, 76, of Pine Street, Plattsburgh, passed away Thursday, March 11, 2004, at the Fletcher Allen Health Care Facility in Burlington, Vt.

She was born in Plattsburgh on Dec. 21, 1927, the daughter of Edgar and Margaret (Perreault) Rascoe.

Doris enjoyed bowling, knitting, crocheting and fishing. She was a member of St. Peter's Church.

Doris was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Henry Trost; and a son, Frank Trost.

She is survived by three sons, Freddie Trost of Plattsburgh, Gary Trost of Plattsburgh and Dennis Trost and his wife Bonny of Plattsburgh; a sister, Thelma Pepitto of Riverside, Calif.; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a long time friend, Ken Boyea of Plattsburgh; a daughter-in-law, Bonnie Trost of Plattsburgh; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh.

A funeral service will be held Sunday at 8:30 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home.

Interment will be at a later date in St. Peter's Cemetery.

Wayne J. Reeves

Plattsburgh — Mr. Wayne J. Reeves, 67, of Rte. 9, Plattsburgh, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, March 11, 2004, at his home.

He was born in Plattsburgh on March 13, 1937, the son of William and Elizabeth (Aubin) Reeves.

Wayne retired from the City of Plattsburgh Water and Sewer Department after 36 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. Wayne was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church.

He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Sondra Reeves; a granddaughter, Tara Trim; a brother, Raymond Reeves; and a sister, Theresa Facteau.

He is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Crystal and Dennis Taylor of Plattsburgh, Trudy and Dale Trim of Morrisonville and Rhonda and Scott Harris of Schuyler Falls; five grandchildren, Tiffany Taylor, Dale Trim Jr., Christina Trim, Natasha Harris and Casondra Harris; two sisters, Geraldine Pelicano and her husband Tony of Peru and Rita Andresakis and her husband Peter of Plattsburgh; a sister-in-law, Claire Reeves of Plattsburgh; several nieces, nephews; and many friends.

Calling hours and funeral services will be private for the family only.

Burial will be later in the year at Evergreen Cemetery in Keeseville.

Friends wishing may make donations to American Heart Association.

Arrangements are by the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh.

Urgil Douglas

AuSable Forks — Urgil Douglas, 70, of Broad Street, died Thursday, March 11, 2004, at the Uihlein Mercy Center, Lake Placid, where he had been a resident for several months.

He was born April 3, 1933, in AuSable Forks, the son of William and Kathryn (Devins) Douglas.

Urgil was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and a life member of American Legion Post 504. He was a past commander of Post 504 and Clinton County American Legion 4th District Legionnaire of the Year. He also was sergeant-at-arms for the N.Y. State Department of the American Legion.

He was manager and real estate broker for the AuSable Acres/ Woodlands and an avid bowler, hunter, fisherman and enjoyed traveling. Urgil also was a member of the Real Estate Brokers Association and did appraisements.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Southmayd Douglas, whom he married Nov. 27, 1954, in AuSable Forks; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kevin and Gene Gilbert of AuSable Forks and Donna and Gary Ottavinia of Wilmington; a son, Kirtis Douglas of Florida; a sister, Carolyn Douglas of Lake Placid; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; two brothers, Leo and Charlie; and a sister, Judy Bruce.

There will be no calling hours. Graveside services will be held at a later time in Holy Name Cemetery.

Memorials to Urgil may be made to the American Legion Post 504, AuSable Forks, NY 12912.

Michael Grant Keegan

Ticonderoga — Michael Grant Keegan, 57, of Crown Heights, passed away Friday, March 12, 2004, at the Glens Falls Hospital.

He was born in Ticonderoga on Sept. 28, 1946, the son of the late Bernard Keegan and Beaulah (Thatcher) Keegan, who survives him, of Ticonderoga.

Mr. Keegan was a lifelong Ticonderoga resident. He was employed by the International Paper Company of Ticonderoga for over 34 years and was a member of the company's Quarter Century Club.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines, having served during the Vietnam War and was a life member of the Essex County Leathernecks and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 146 of Ticonderoga.

Survivors, in addition to his mother Beaulah Keegan, include his wife, Doris J. (Bush) Keegan; three daughters, Julie Duncan of Little Rock, Ark., Kelly Guliano of Fairbanks, Alaska, and Heather Jordon of Queensbury; two brothers, Bernard Keegan Jr. of Essex Junction, Vt., and Patrick Keegan of Albany; and two sisters, Mary Robinson of Brockport and Sarah Morin of Ticonderoga. He is also survived by two grandsons, Jarrod Bryant and Sean Duncan; one granddaughter, Lindsay Jordon; and many nieces and nephews.

There will be no calling hours or funeral service.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home of Ticonderoga.

Mark W. Lukenbill, 47, of AuSable Drive, passed away Thursday, March 11, 2004, at the CVPH Medical Center, Plattsburgh, after a short illness.

He was born Oct. 7, 1956, in Brownsburg, Ind., the son of William and Margaret (Sutherlin) Lukenbill.

There will be no calling hours. Memorial services will be held Saturday, March 13, at 2 p.m. at the Zaumetzer-Sprague Funeral Home, AuSable Forks.
