Betty A. DuBray

SCHUYLER FALLS — Betty A. DuBray, 63, of 702 Salmon River Road, died Sunday, March 7, 2004, at her home.

She was born in Malone on June 3, 1940, the daughter of Donald and Julia (Wheeler) Iby.

Betty married Robert DuBray in 1973 in Malone. Robert died June 10, 1997.

Mrs. DuBray was a member of the Apostolic Light House Church and also a member and past president of the American Legion Post 20 auxiliary and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Post 309 in Peru.

Betty enjoyed pets, knitting and crafts.

Survivors include three sons, Ricky LaLonde and his wife Nancy of Chesapeake, Va., Randy LaLonde of St. Johnsbury, Vt., and Craig LaLonde and his wife Lucretia of Albany, N.Y.; two daughters, Mrs. Rodney (Pamela) Laplante of Peru and Lottie Mae DuBray and her companion James Seigler of Plattsburgh; her mother, Julia Iby of Malone; three brothers, Richard White and his wife Ranee of Malone, Floyd Iby and his wife Linda and Arthur Iby and his wife June, all of Malone; 15 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 8 p.m. at the funeral home chapel.

Burial will be in Schuyler Falls Cemetery in the spring.

Donations in her memory may be made to the American Legion Post 20 Memorial Fund.

Earl (Zip) Call

Jay — Earl (Zip) Call, 86, formerly of the Carey Road, died Tuesday, March 9, 2004, at the Horace Nye Nursing Home in Elizabethtown, where he had been a resident for several years.

Earl was born May 12, 1917, in Jay, the son of Walter and Ethel (Sheldon) Call.

Zip was employed for several years at the Lake Placid Granite Company, AuSable Forks. He also was a handyman for several private residences.

He enjoyed riding his bike. Zip just enjoyed life itself. He was a highly respected man in the community. He was a thoughtful son, brother and uncle.

Earl is survived by a sister, Marion Crowningshield of Jay; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; five brothers, Marcel Call, Arthur Call, Joseph Call, Kenneth Call and Charles Call; also two sisters, Mary Crowningshield and Nellie Bruce.

Calling hours will be Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Zaumetzer-Sprague Funeral Home.

Funeral services will follow the calling hours and will be held at 2 p.m. at the Jay Baptist Church, Jay, with the Rev. Joyce Bruce officiating. Burial will be in the family plot at Jay Central Cemetery at a later date.

Memorials to him may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Margaret M. (Tabano) Bushey

Jay — Margaret M. (Tabano) Bushey, 68, of Route 86, Jay, entered into the arms of the Lord on Tuesday, March 9, 2004, at the CVPH Medical Center, Plattsburgh.

She had been in ill health for several years.

She was born July 12, 1935, in Ballston Spa, N.Y., the daughter of Angelo and Marguerite Tabano. She attended school in Ballston Spa and graduated from Ballston Spa High School in 1953.

Margaret was a homemaker, a loving wife and mother.

She is survived by her husband, David K. Bushey Sr., whom she married Nov. 24, 1953; a son, David K. Bushey Jr.; and a daughter, Lisa Bushey, all of Jay; and her sister-in-law, Alberta Debonaventura of Ballston Spa.

She was predeceased by her parents; and a brother, Pio Debonaventura.

There will be no calling hours or funeral services at this time. Burial will be at a later date in Jay Central Cemetery.

Memorials to her may be sent to Make-a-Wish Foundation of Northeast New York, 950 New Loudon Rd., Suite 280, Latham, NY 12110.

The Zaumetzer-Sprague Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Virginia F. vanDyck

Albany — Virginia F. (Bootsie) vanDyck, 68, of Albany, died Wednesday, March 10, 2004, at the Inn of Community Hospice due to complications from a stroke.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Louise B. vanDyck Jr.; and her brother, Robert Henningson.

She is survived by her two daughters, Lynne Kelley and her husband Larry of Malone, N.Y., and Pamela Coluccio and her husband Frank of Albany. She is the cherished grandmother of Christina, Rocco and Michael Coluccio; and sister of Eugene Henningson of Troy.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at NewComer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Avenue). Calling hours will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

At the request of the family, and in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Louise Coming Senior Center, 25 Delaware Ave., Albany NY 12210 or to Community Hospice of Albany, 445 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY 12205.

Richard G. Delumyea

Jacksonville, Fla. — Richard G. Delumyea, 57, of Jacksonville, Fla., passed away Saturday, March 6, 2004, at his home as the result of multiple-sclerosis complications.

He was born in Plattsburgh on May 12, 1946, the son of Francis and Virginia (Alger) Delumyea of Keeseville.

Richard graduated from Plattsburgh High School and Rochester Institute of Technology. He received his M.S. and Ph.D from Wayne State University in chemistry.

Richard taught at the University of Michigan, Wayne State University, Washington, University of St. Louis, Clemson University and the University of Jacksonville prior to his retiring in 1996.

Besides his parents, he is survived by his former wife and best friend, Kathe Delumyea; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Cindy of Moneta, Va., Chris and Nancy of Truckee, Calif., and James and Ann of Syracuse: and two nieces and six nephews.

There will be no public calling hours. Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in the spring in St. Alexander's Cemetery.

Arrangements are by the Hamilton Funeral Home.

Glenn F. Flora Jr.

Willsboro — Glenn F. Flora Jr., 28, of the McAuliffe Road, Willsboro, died Tuesday, March 9, 2004.

He was born in Plattsburgh, N.Y., on Sept. 17, 1975, the son of Glenn F. and Elizabeth (Mangum) Flora Sr.

Glenn was a member of St. Philip's Church in Willsboro, a member of the Willsboro-Reber Fire Department, an avid deer hunter and a NASCAR fan. He was employed by Camoplast Company in Plattsburgh.

He is survived by his father and companion, Glenn and Bonnie Daniels of Willsboro; his mother and companion, Beth and Michael Melton of Lewis; his fiancée, Jennifer Hopper; two daughters, Autumn and Madison Flora; maternal grandparents Pearl and John R. Mangum Sr. of Almagordo, N.M.; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Felix and Arlene Flora.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Philip's Church, Main Street, Willsboro.

If you wish, the family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations in his memory be made to the Willsboro Fire Department.

Huestis Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Louis J. Ida, 78, of Sherman Road, Mineville, died Tuesday, March 9, 2004, at Moses-Ludington Hospital in Ticonderoga, N.Y.

He was born June 4, 1925, in Witherbee, N.Y., the son of Michael and Catherine Garande.

Calling hours will be held on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Harland Funeral Home in Port Henry.

A full obituary, with the funeral Mass information, will be in Friday's paper.

David R. Martelle, 69, of Route 86, Saranac Lake, died Tuesday, March 9, 2004, at Adirondack Medical Center.

He was born in Saranac Lake, N.Y., on July 15, 1934, the son of Alfred and Lydia (Alexander) Martelle.

Calling hours will be held at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home, Inc. on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8:45 p.m. A prayer service will be held Friday evening at 8:45 p.m. with Rev. Kevin McEwan officiating. Burial will be in Harrietstown Cemetery in Saranac Lake in May.

Madeline Cote, 90, of Ivy Terrace, Tupper Lake, died Sunday, March 7, 2004, at the Mercy Healthcare Center.

She was born on Jan. 31, 1914, in Drummondville, Quebec, the daughter of Elzear and Victoria (Quinty) Carignan.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Richer Funeral Home in Tupper Lake. A funeral Mass will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Church. Burial services at St. Alphonsus Cemetery will be held in May.

FRANCIS X. WARD, 79, formerly of 12 Main St., Saranac Lake, died Wednesday, Mar. 10, 2004, at Uihlein Mercy Center, Lake Placid, where he had been a resident since December, 2003.

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on Jan. 21, 1925, he was the son of John and Helen (Creighton) Ward.

A Mass of Christian burial was held at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Rehabilitation Center in Saranac Lake with the Rev. Daniel Callaghan officiating.

Arrangements are with the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake.
