Published: 10/30/04Grace C. GravesPlattsburgh — Grace C. Graves, 96, of the Samuel F. Vilas Adult Home in Plattsburgh, passed away March 5, 2004, at her home. She was born in Schenectady, Jan. 29, 1908, the daughter of the late Miglori and Grace (Douglas) Pratt. She was the beloved wife of Roland J. Graves, whom she married July 31, 1926. Prior to her move to Plattsburgh, she was a member of the AARP Chapter 78, Albany Chapter of the Columbiettes, St. Theresa of Avila Albany, Jewish Community Center and co-owner with her late husband in the Tandy Leather Co. of Albany. She enjoyed oil painting, ceramics, knitting, crocheting and traveling. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Roland R. and Helen Graves of Latham; a daughter, Beverly Uliva of Peru; grandchildren and spouses, Suzanne and James Rubino, Lori and Dan Byron, Deborah and Thomas Green, Roland J. and Susan Graves, Paul and Lisa Graves, Donna Uliva, Dana Uliva, Diana Smith, Paul and Patricia Uliva, John and Susan Uliva, Linda and Joseph James, Teresa and Larry Medler, Gail and Jim Clancy and Celia and Jeff Dowers; 29 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. She was also predeceased by her brother, Douglas Pratt. Calling hours will be held Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Peru. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Augustine's Church in Peru with Rev. Vicente Jazmines, pastor, celebrating. Burial will follow in the Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Niskayuna. Donations in her memory may be made to the St. Augustine's Church Building Fund. Herbert I. MooreKeeseville — Herbert I. Moore, 78, of Moore Lane, Keeseville, died Thursday, March 4, 2004, at the CVPH Medical Center. He was born in Guildhall, Vt., May 20, 1925, the son of Carl and Marion (Bunnell) Moore. Herb graduated from Keeseville Central School. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army. He participated in the Battle of the Bulge and the invasion of Normandy. He was employed as an iron worker/welder for Local 12 for 50 years. He was a member of the Keeseville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1505. Herb was an avid fisherman. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Dorothy A. (Hayes) Moore of Keeseville; two sons and daughters-in-law, James C. and Renee Moore of Aurora, Colo., and David A. and Lydia Moore of Chestertown; four grandchildren, Zachary, Dana, Adam and Emily Moore; one great - granddaughter, Sushawna Moore; one brother and sister-in-law, George and Shirley Moore of Keeseville; one sister and brother-in-law, Marion and Willard White of Whitesboro; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; and one brother, Robert Moore. Calling hours will be held Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Keeseville. A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Keeseville United Methodist Church with Rev. Sally White, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the spring in St. John's Cemetery in Keeseville. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Keeseville United Methodist Church or the Keeseville Rescue Squad. Evelyn H. WrightPlattsburgh, N.Y./St. Albans, Vt. — Mrs. Evelyn H. Wright, 96, a resident of Plattsburgh since 1943, passed away on Friday, March 5, 2004, at Meadowbrook Health Care in Plattsburgh. She was born in St. Albans on Oct. 2, 1907, the daughter of the late Winslow D. and Lottie (Bliss) Heald. She was the widow of C. Bradley Wright, who predeceased her in 1953. Evelyn was a graduate of St. Albans High School and for many years was a secretary and agent at the F.C. Dossert Insurance Agency in Plattsburgh. She was a member of the Women's Insurance Association, Plattsburgh Senior Citizens and the Home Bureau. She enjoyed many crafts as well as sewing and quilting. Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Velma and Oril Graves of Trembleau Park, Port Kent, N.Y.; a son and his wife, Robert and Judy Wright of Andover, Mass.; grandchildren Brad and Mary Ellen Graves of Plattsburgh, Tim and Wynne Moody of Lee, N.H., Chris, Allyson and Holly Wright, all of Andover, Mass., and Cynthia and James Shortel of Saranac Lake, N.Y.; great - grandchildren Nathan, Colby and Abby Graves, Ivy and Paige Moody and Bryan and Allicia Shortel; a brother, Robert L. Heald of St. Albans Bay, Vt.; and a sister-in-law, Eleanor B. Heald of Richford; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband Bradley, she was predeceased by a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Houston Childress; brothers Herman C. Heald, George B. Heald, Frederick A. Heald, Adelbert W. Heald, Everett L. Heald, Raymond W. Heald, Alan W. Heald and C. Paige Heald; and a sister, Winifred H. Robistow. Visitation and a prayer service will be on Saturday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. at the O’Neill-Redden-Drown Funeral Home, 94 Court St., Plattsburgh. A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 8, 2004, at 11 a.m. in the Heald Funeral Home, 87 So. Main St., St. Albans. Interment will be in the family lot at Lakeview Cemetery in Burlington. Pengitore, 79, formerly of Plattsburgh, passed away Feb. 8, 2004, at the V/A Hospital in Phoenix, Ariz. He was born in Orange, N.J., on Jan. 30, 1925, the son of George F. and Catherine (Payton) Pengitore. George was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. George was manager of Plattsburgh Lane for 18 years and moved to Phoenix, Ariz., 28 years ago. He was a member of and Past Exalted Ruler of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Plattsburgh Lodge 621. George was predeceased by his parents and a sister, Marie Caporizzo. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Doris (Bouvia) Pengitore; three daughters, Georgia Brean and her husband Charles of West Chazy, Margo Proto and her husband Carmello of Phoenix, Ariz., and Toni Garrow and her husband Larry of Plattsburgh; four grandchildren, Ralph "Ritchie" Recor Jr., Jon Recor, Will Garrow and Charli Proto; a great-grandchild, Jacob Recor; a brother, Harold Pengitore of Bayville, N.J.; a sister, Florence Vacca of Tuckerton, N.J.; and a sister-in-law, Betty Silvaggio and her husband Joseph of Providence, R.l.; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family at St. Peter's Cemetery. Arrangements were by the Heritage Funeral Chapel in Peoria, Ariz. Local arrangements are by the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh. James N. Ladd Jr., 66, of Coventry, Conn., died Friday, March 5, 2003, at the Windham Hospital, Willimantic, Conn. He was born in Plattsburgh, N.Y., on Sept. 8, 1937, the son of Nelson and Dorothy (Wing) Ladd Sr. Calling hours will be held at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Willimantic, Conn., on Monday from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the First Congregational Church of Coventry, 1171 Main St., Coventry. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetry, Coventry. |
