Mahlon T. Lareau

Keeseville — Mahlon T. Lareau, 79, of Route 9N, AuSable Street, Keeseville, died Thursday, Feb. 19, 2004, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

He was born in Keeseville on Aug. 2, 1924, the son of Alfred J. and Julienne (Chausse) Lareau.

He was a veteran of World War II and a recipient of the Purple Heart, having served with the U.S. Army.

Mahlon retired from Imperial Mill in Plattsburgh following many years of service.

He was a 3rd degree knight at the Keeseville Knights of Columbus, a charter member of the Keeseville VFW Post 1505 in Keeseville and a past member of the Keeseville Volunteer Fire Department.

Survivors include a brother, Leonard Lareau of Keeseville; two sisters, Florence Booth of Latham and Virginia Garcia of Keeseville; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Kachkaitis and Doris Lareau, both of Plattsburgh; his very special caregivers, Julie LaValley, Karen Reines and Aubrey and James Douglas; and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Keeseville. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday at 11 a.m. at St. John's Church in Keeseville with Monsignor Leeward J. Poissant, pastor, celebrating. Burial will be in the spring in the parish cemetery.

Donations in his memory may be made to Hospice of the North Country.

Oliver N. Blaise Sr.

Peru — Oliver N. Blaise Sr., 83, of Reid Street, Peru, died Thursday, Feb. 19, 2004, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

He was born in Peru on April 28, 1920, the son of William and Alice (Payea) Blaise.

He was a veteran of World War II having served with the U.S. Army.

He retired following many years of service from the Imperial Mill in Plattsburgh.

Oliver was a member of the Keeseville VFW Post 1505, the Keeseville Senior Citizens Club and the Vestry of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Keeseville.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and riding his motor scooter.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Oliver N. Jr. and Susan Blaise of Kirkwood; one daughter and son-in-law, Jill and Tom Martisus of Peru; three grandsons and spouses, Oliver III and Dalya Blaise, Travis Blaise and fiancée Laura Bonner, all of Binghamton and Derek and Alicia Martisus of Burlington, Vt.; one great-grandson, Brady Martisus; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Elnora E. Blaise; and brothers and sisters.

Calling hours will be held Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Keeseville. A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Keeseville with Deacon Blair Biddle officiating. Burial will be in the spring in the Evergreen Cemetery in Keeseville.

Donations in his memory may be made to the Evergreen Cemetery in Keeseville.

Edith Albecker

Groton, N.Y. — Edith Albecker, formerly of Keeseville, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 12, 2004, at the home of her daughter, Lisa Colby, of Groton, N.Y., after a long illness.

Edith was born on July 24, 1915, in Chicopee, Mass., the daughter of Albert and May (Sawyer) Bleau.

Edith was a retired teacher of AuSable Valley Central School in Keeseville, N.Y. She was a Professed Member of Discalced Carmelites. Edith was an active member of The Catholic Community of Keeseville when she made her home there. Edith loved sewing, especially crafts and cooking.

She is survived by her two daughters, Lisa Colby of Groton, N.Y., and Holly Ashley of Ogdensburg, N.Y.; her son, David Albecker of Winchester, Va.; three grandsons, Aaron Albecker, Jesse Ashley and Josh Colby; two granddaughters, Molly and Anna Albecker; her sister, Ruth (James) Doyle of Keeseville, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; brothers Harlan Bleau, Halsey Bleau, Howard Bleau, and Harold Bleau; and sisters Doris Blanchard, Beatrice Morrow, Loretta Hart and Edna Bleau.

There will be no calling hours. Burial will be in the spring at the family's request.

Mary E. Domizio (D'Lano)

Bellevue, Neb. — Mary E. Domizio, 79, of Bellevue, Neb., died Jan. 27, 2004, in Papillion, Neb.

Her husband, Alfred J. Domizio Sr., was better known in the North Country as Al D'Lano.

She was born in Plattsburgh on April 6, 1924, and spent her entire life here until about a year ago, when she and her husband moved to Plattsmouth, Neb., to be with children.

She is survived by her husband; a son, Alfred J. Domizio Jr. of Jacksonville, Fla.; a daughter, Pamela and her husband Mark Fortin of Plattsmouth; grandsons Nicholas J. Fortin and his wife Leslie of Omaha, Neb., and Jason L. Domizio of Jacksonville, Fla.; a great-granddaughter, Olivia N. Fortin of Omaha; and her sisters, Vivian Houghton of Plattsburgh and Frances Zalikowski of Buffalo. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

Mrs. Domizio was predeceased by three brothers, Harold, Clarence and Edward Boyle; and two sisters, Charity Skiff and Kathleen Darrah.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 7101 Newport Ave., Suite 305, Omaha, NE 68152-2153.

The Bellevue Memorial Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

Glenn Ralph Kelsey of Albany, N.Y., died Feb. 17, 2004, at the Albany Stratton Veterans Hospital.

He was born on July 8, 1950, the son of the late Keith Lawrence Kelsey I and Gertrude (Lewis) Kelsey.

Funeral arrangements are with the Applebee Funeral Home in Albany. A graveside service will be held on Monday, Feb. 23, 2004, at 2 p.m. at Saratoga National Cemetery in Saratoga.

Hazel E. Lantry, 92, of the Townsend Road, Bombay, passed away Friday, Feb. 20, 2004, at the Massena Memorial Hospital, where she had been a patient since Thursday. She had been a resident of the St. Regis Nursing Home in Massena since the fall of 2001.

She was born in Utica, N.Y., on Nov. 20, 1911, the daughter of the late Frank and Ellen (Sullivan) Foy.

Calling hours will be in the Cappiello-McKenzie and Cosgrove Funeral Home in Ft. Covington on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, Feb. 23, 2004, at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church in Bombay, with the Rev. Stephen Rocker, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery in the spring.

John. E. Johnson, 66, of Locust Drive, Peru, died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2004, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

He was born in Brooklyn on Dec. 4, 1937, the son of Klemnent Alfred and Emily (Johnsen) Johnson.

Calling hours will be held Thursday from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Peru. A funeral service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at St. Augustine's Church in Peru with Rev. Dr. Robert Svenson, pastor of the Peru Community Church, officiating.
