Beverly M. Crandall Carron

AUSABLE FORKS — Beverly M. Crandall Carron, 56, has gone onto the Lord’s graces on Feb. 8, 2004. She passed after fighting a courageous battle with cancer.

Beverly was born in Westport, Feb. 7, 1948, the daughter of Alden B. and Emma Crandall.

She spent her life in the Adirondacks. She retired from the Horace Nye Nursing Home in Elizabethtown after 28 years of dedicated service as a nurses aide. She enjoyed gardening, the outdoors, her pets and spending time with her family and friends. She celebrated her life, helping and loving those in her life and those she cared for in her jobs. Beverly gifted so many with trust and warm heartedness.

She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Louis Carron; her son, Scott Crandall and his life mate Beth Ann Scott; her son, Robby Carron and his wife Jennifer; a grandson, Austin; her sister, Carol and her husband Lester Marsha; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; and three brothers, Larry, Roger and Gordon.

Hours will be held Tuesday, 7 to 9 p.m. at the Zaumetzer-Sprague Funeral Home, AuSable Forks. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. at the Holy Name Catholic Church, AuSable Forks followed by cremation for her final resting.

Donations can be sent in her loving memory to the FitzPatrick Cancer Center at the CVPH Medical Center, Plattsburgh, NY 12901.

Margaret Helene Septer

SARANAC LAKE — Margaret Helene Septer, 99, formerly of Olive Street, Saranac Lake, died Friday, Feb. 7, 2004, at Adirondack Medical Center at Lake Placid.

She was born in Saranac Lake, N.Y., on June 11, 1904, the daughter of Joseph and Susie (Pettinger) LaVallee.

Mrs. Septer had been a resident of Saranac Lake before moving to Albany in 1922. She was a graduate of Albany Business College and worked for the Braun Construction company in Albany.

She married Richard John Septer on May 12, 1924, and they moved back to Saranac Lake in 1957.

Mrs. Septer did office work for the Kingman Electric Shop in Saranac Lake in the 1960’s. She had been a member of the St. Bernard’s Church Altar and Rosary Society and loved her flower garden at 33 Olive Street.

Mrs. Septer is survived by a son, Richard Septer and his wife Joanne of Marietta, Ga.; a daughter, Nancy James of Saranac Lake; five grandchildren, Kim Adams and her husband Leon of Marietta, Ga., Tina Redd and her husband Michael of Marietta, Ga., Patricia Septer of Powder Springs, Ga., Vernon James and his fiancé Angela Reome of Saranac Lake and Susan James of Plattsburgh, N.Y.; seven great-grand-children; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Richard in 1952; her son, Donald Septer; her six brothers, Lawrence LaVallee, Harold LaVallee, Earl LaVallee, Francis LaVallee, James LaVallee and George LaVallee; and her three sisters, Irene Bruso, Mary LaVallee and Virginia Donovan.

Visitation will be held at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday. A Bible Vigil will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Feb. 13, 2004, at 11:15 a.m. at St. Bernard’s Church with Father Thomas Kornmeyer officiating. Burial will be at St. Bernard Cemetery in Saranac Lake in May.

Friends wishing to remember Mrs. Septer may make memorial contributions to Saranac Lake Volunteer Fire Department Rescue Squad or Uihlein Mercy Center in care of the funeral home.

Leon W. Whitford

Port Henry, N.Y. — Leon W. Whitford, 73, of Maple Knoll ARC Residence, Port Henry, N.Y., died Feb. 4, 2004, at Elizabethtown Community Hospital in Elizabethtown, N.Y.

He was born Dec. 1, 1930, in Moriah, N.Y., the son of Perl and Harriett (Brown) Whitford.

Leon was known for his quick smile and sense of humor. He was a great observer, taking interest in people and events around him. He was a dignified gentleman, always with a hat, always looking sharp. He was deeply rooted in his family, his community and with his friends. He remembered everyone with a warm greeting and handshake. He had particular interest in fishing, shooting basketball and country music. What he enjoyed most was being the wry observer of life.

Leon is survived by two brothers, Bernard and Betty Whitford of Westport, N.Y., and Charles and Anna Whitford of Moriah; a sister, Addie J. Pattison of Moriah, N.Y.; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy (Mrs. Karl) Whitford of Moriah, N.Y., and Darlene (Mrs. Donald) Whitford of Suisun, Calif.; several nieces and nephews.

Leon was predeceased by his parents; his brothers, Harold Robert, Karl and Donald; a sister-in-law, Marion; and two nephews, Gerald and Donald III.

There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held on Thursday Feb. 12, 2004, at 1 p.m. at the Moriah United Methodist Church. Burial will be at the South Moriah Cemetery in the spring.

Funeral arrangements are with the Harland Funeral Home in Port Henry.

Donations may be made in Leon’s memory to the Essex County ARC Early Intervention Program.

Caroline G. Kelley, 70, of Chasands Drive, Plattsburgh, died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2004, at the CVPH Medical Center.

She was born in Plattsburgh on Dec. 20, 1933, the daughter of Leonard and Lorean (Freeman) Kelley.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 12 noon at St. Peter’s Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will be in the spring in the parish cemetery.

Dorothy M. Jessey, 92, formerly of Beckwith Street, Morrisonville, died Monday, Feb. 9, 2004, at the Meadowbrook Health Care Facility.

Calling hours and funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh.
