Published: 2/5/04Mark Burton StrackMiami Lakes, Fla. — Mark Burton Strack, born on May 7, 1964, in Plattsburgh, N.Y., died of natural causes at his home in Miami Lakes, Fla., on Monday, Feb. 2, 2004. Mark graduated from Plattsburgh High School in 1982 and Hebron Academy in 1983. He attended Plymouth State College and graduated from the University of Arizona in 1999 with a bachelor’s degree in business. He was an advertising salesman for Clear Channel, Inc. in Miami, Fla. Survivors include his parents, John and Marty Strack of Plattsburgh; his maternal grandmother, Audrey Woodell of Hudson Falls; his sister, Kate Strack; a brother, Mike Strack and his wife Annett; and his sister, Mary Beth Brossart and her husband Steve, all of Tucson, Ariz. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Mark's leisure time was spent playing a competitive game of golf with his dad or friends. He valued time spent with his family, loved Lake Placid in the summer and occasionally would climb a mountain to view Lake Placid from the top. While in Florida he enjoyed many professional sporting events and deep sea fishing. He leaves behind many friends who will remember him for his quick wit and his famous hot fudge sundae sauce. Calling hours will be Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. from St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will be later in the year at St. Agnes Cemetery in Lake Placid. Donations may be made in his memory to Special Olympics. Wayne R. RichardsPLATTSBURGH — Wayne R. Richards, 54, of Blake Road, Plattsburgh, died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2004, at the CVPH Medical Center. He was born in Plattsburgh on March 23, 1949, the son of Frank and Doris (Giroux) Richards Sr. Mr. Richards was a member of the North Country Vietnam Veteran's Association, Classic Cruisers Association of Plattsburgh and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 125 in Plattsburgh. He married Jane Callaghan on May 4, 2003, in Plattsburgh. Wayne was a Marine Vietnam Veteran from 1968 to 1969, where he received two Purple Hearts and The Conspicuous Service Cross. He was a corrections officer for Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora for 21 years. Survivors include his wife, Jane Richards of Plattsburgh; one son, Jason Richards and his companion Laura Harney of Plattsburgh; two daughters and one son-in-law, Billie Jo Richards and her companion, Rob Quinn of Peru and Mrs. Randy (Terrie) Wade of West Chazy; three stepson’s, Kirk McLaughlin of Bristol, Tenn., Derek McLaughlin and his wife Nancy of Saranac Lake and William Boyd and his companion Kat of Phoenix, Ariz.; one stepdaughter, Brenda Boyd of Plattsburgh; three brothers and one sister-in-law, Roger Richards and his wife Betsy of Lake Placid, Frank Richards Jr. of Mooers and Ricky Richards of Buffalo, N.Y.; three sisters and three brothers-in-law, Mrs. Charles (Diane) Smith of Plattsburgh, Mrs. Joseph (Paulette) Ambrosio of Plattsburgh and Mrs. Richard (Sheryl) Wray of Chazy; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Roger Donaldson and Marion Callaghan both of Saranac Lake; special nieces and nephews, Kristi, Jason, Ronnie, Amy, Katie, Kylie, Keegan and Casey; seven grandchildren; six step grandchildren; and several other nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery in the spring. Memorial donations may be made to the North Country Vietnam Veteran's Association. Raymond G. DancoesRUTLAND, VT — The funeral service for Raymond G. Dancoes, 86, of Rutland, Vt., who died Jan. 21, 2004, at the Eden Park Nursing Home in Rutland was held 1 p.m. on Saturday at Christ the King Church, Rutland, Vt. He was born in Gorham, N.H., on July 23, 1917, the son of Edward and Mary (Robichaud) Dancoes. Mr. Dancoes was raised in Gorham, N.H. Attending local schools, graduating from the Gorham High School with the class of 1934 and continuing his education at the North Hampton Commercial College graduating in 1940. He was married to Evelyn Mathot Dancoes on May 16, 1942, and was a longtime resident of White River, Vt., relocating to Rutland in 1970. Mr. Dancoes was employed by the Farm Credit Services in White River from 1936 until 1964, and managed Billings Dairy from 1964 through 1968 and was the bookkeeper for Hawk Mountain Corporation from 1968 until his retirement. Following retirement he had been employed by the Marble Bank. He was a member and communicant of the Christ the King Church and was appointed an extraordinary minister of the Eucharist on May 14, 1990. He was also a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus achieving honorary life membership. Survivors include a son, John J. Dancoes of Peru, N.Y.; a daughter, Linda D. Bristol of Lyman, Maine; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Evelyn Dancoes on May 2, 2001. Memorials may be to Christ the King Church, 66 South Main Street, Rutland, VT 05701. Eugene J. Lefebvre, 88, of the General LeRoy Manor Road, Morrisonville and more recently of the Vilas Home, died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2004, at the CVPH Medical Center. He was born in Union City, N.J., on Oct. 15, 1915, the son of Severen and Martha (Gadway) Lefebvre. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Friday at noon at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery in West Chazy in the spring |
