Jacalyn Mitchell Carron

Mechanicville, N.Y. — Jacalyn Mitchell Carron, 29, of Wake Robin Road, Malta, died Friday, Jan. 30, 2004, at St. Peter's Hospital, Albany, after a brief illness.

She was born in Troy on April 16, 1974, the daughter of James and Raema (Stalter) Mitchell of Mechanicville.

Jacalyn was a 1992 graduate of Mechanicville High School and attended HVCC and Sage Junior College of Albany, where she majored in child development.

Jacalyn was a day care teacher for a number of years, last teaching at North Country Academy in Clifton Park.

Jacalyn's whole life was centered around children, especially her nieces and nephews and others she came in contact with. She also enjoyed craft fairs. She was a communicant of Assumption-St. Paul Church in Mechanicville.

Survivors, in addition to her parents, include her husband, Jason Carron, whom she married Aug. 18, 2001; her 14-month-old son, Jason Carron Jr.; brother James Mitchell of Dallas, Texas; sisters Jessica Mitchell of Waterford and Jamie Mitchell of Mechanicville; her niece and nephew, Elizabeth and Matthew Mitchell; her grandmothers, Helen Stalter of Mechanicville and Lois Del Guidice of Waterford; and her husband’s parents, Victor and Wanda Carron of Plattsburgh; along with many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a sister, Kimberly Mitchell.

Calling hours at the Devito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 So. Main St., Mechanicville, will be on Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday at 9:30 a.m. at the Assumption-St. Paul William St. Church, with burial in St. Paul's Cemetery, Mechanicville.

In lieu of flowers, a trust fund has been established for her son and the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Jason J. Carron Jr. Trust Fund in care of the funeral home.

Geraldine M. Leary

Wingdale, N.Y. — Geraldine M. Leary, 83, of Wingdale, N.Y., died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004, at CVPH Medical Center, Plattsburgh, N.Y.

She was born in Chateaugay, N.Y., on Dec. 14, 1920, the daughter of David and Theresa (Darragh) Healey.

She was married to Jeremiah "Miley" Leary. He predeceased her on April 12, 1974.

Mrs. Leary is survived by eight children and their spouses, Mary and Jim LaBombard of Ellenburg, N.Y., Jerry and Nancy Leary of Chateaugay Lake, N.Y., Kay and John Whalen of Merrill, N.Y., Patrick and Linda Leary of Sewell, N.J., Marilyn and Jack Neverett of Champlain, N.Y., Frank and Jo Ellen Leary of Plattsburgh, N.Y., Clyde and Connie Leary of Warner Robins, Ga., and Ann and Dan Readyoff of New Milford, Conn.; 27 grandchildren; 24 great - grandchildren; two great - great - grandsons; two brothers and a sister and their spouses, Ambrose and Fern Healey of Maryland, Kathryn and Anthony Danussi of Chateaugay Lake, N.Y., and Kenneth and Blanche Healey of Chateaugay, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was predeceased by parents; a granddaughter, Kristie Yelle; a sister, Gladys Healey; and a brother, William Healey.

Mrs. Leary graduated from Chateaugay High School. She worked as a therapy aide at Harlem Valley State Hospital in Wingdale, N.Y., retiring in 1981 after 17 years of service. She was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church, Chateaugay.

Calling hours will be held at the Chateaugay Funeral Home on Sunday, Feb. 1st, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

A Mass of Christian burial will be at noon on Monday, Feb. 2, 2004, in St. Patrick's Church with Rev. John Demo officiating.

Spring burial will take place at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Chateaugay.

Ferdinand J. Lanzo

Port Henry — Ferdinand J. (Tiny) Lanzo, 76, of Stone Street, Port Henry, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004, at Moses-Ludington Hospital in Ticonderoga, N.Y.

He was born Nov. 16, 1927, in Port Henry, the son of Benedetto and Lucrezia (D'Quisto) (Scorsome) Lanzo.

He retired from the International Paper Co. in Ticonderoga, N.Y., with 25 years of service. He was a member of the company's Quarter Century Club. Tiny also loved to fish.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn (Connors) Lanzo; five children, Margaret and Kevin Frassrand, Mary and Kevin Mooney, Patricia and Thomas Newhall, Catherine and Bryan Taylor and Benjamin Lanzo and his fiancée Vicki Muscarella; 14 grandchildren; his brother, Nickolas Scoresome; several sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law; and nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Harland Funeral Home in Port Henry. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church in Port Henry. Spring burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Moriah.

Donations may be made in Tiny's memory to the Town of Moriah Ambulance Squad.

Peppina Trapasso Martin

New Russia, N.Y. — Peppina (Pep) Trapasso Martin, 88, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

She was born in Easton, Pa., on Oct. 29, 1915, the daughter of Anthony and Catherine (Rotella) Trapasso.

After moving to Moriah at a young age, Peppina attended and graduated from Moriah School. While there she excelled in academics and sports. She was a vital member of the girls' basketball team.

Upon graduation, Pep moved to Elizabethtown and worked at Lolly’s Restaurant until she met and married the love of her life, Norman W. Martin on Aug. 31, 1941.

Peppina and Norman moved to Plainville, Conn., shortly after their marriage. While there, she worked at New Departure and gave birth to two children, Norman Jr. and Dolores.

Longing for nearest to family and the comfort and peacefulness of the Adirondacks, Pep’s family moved back home in 1948 and established their residence in New Russia.

In the years that followed, Peppina gave birth to two other children, Joseph and Darlene. She and her husband also owned and operated Martin’s Motel in New Russia from 1953 to 1996.

Peppina’s life centered around her family. She was happiest when surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great - grandchildren, all of whom loved her very dearly. Her love for children was also evident, as she provided day care for a number of local children in the area in addition to all of her other responsibilities. Her weekly night out for bingo at the American Legion was enjoyed as well.

In September of 2001, Pep suffered from a severe stroke. It was then that her family was forced to make the difficult decision to place her in the Horace Nye Nursing Home in Elizabethtown. Although she was out of her home, she was never out of the minds of her family. They ensured that she had a visit from a loved one each and every day and that her needs were always met They are thankful for the loving care she received there by so many.

Peppina is survived by her husband, Norman Martin of New Russia; her son, Norman Martin Jr. and his companion, Margaret Van Houten of Lake Placid; her daughter and son-in-law, Dolores and Leonard Forbes of Wilmington; her son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Linda Martin of Elizabethtown; and her other daughter and son-in-law, Darlene and Paul Hooper of New Russia; her brother, Sam Trapasso of Moriah; Joe Trapasso of Lake Placid; and her sister, Dorothy Carr of Keeseville; ten grandchildren; four great - grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her three brothers, Dominic and Tony Trapasso and Roland "Billy" Carr.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, Feb. 1st, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Marvin’s Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 2nd, at St. Elizabeth’s Church in Elizabethtown.

Memorial donations may be made to the Elizabethtown-Lewis Ambulance Squad or the Activities Dept. of the Horace Nye Home in Elizabethtown.

Shirley M. Connors

Plattsburgh — Shirley M. Connors, 78, of Plattsburgh, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004, at the Evergreen Valley Nursing Home in Plattsburgh.

She was born in Plattsburgh on Oct. 25, 1925, the daughter of Emery and Delaney (Dapo) Bruce.

She was employed by the Marriott Corp. at Plattsburgh State University for many years.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Joanne and Robert BuIris of West Chazy; three sons, Gary, Dale and Keith Connors; a sister and brother-in-law, Peggy and Leeward Garrow of Peru; a brother, Clarence Bruce of Plattsburgh; her grandchildren, Nicole and Matthew Eckert; and several other grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A brother, Harold Bruce; and three sisters, Bertha McGee, Helen St. Germaine and Dana Van Splinter, also died earlier.

There will be no calling hours. Services will be held at the convenience of the family.

The O'Neill-Redden-Drown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh is in charge of arrangements.

Raymond F. Valentine

Westport, N.Y. and Dorval, Quebec, Canada — Raymond F. Valentine, born Feb. 20, 1925, passed away in his home in Dorval.

He is survived by his friend and partner of 16 years, Susan C. Sherman of Westport; sons Yves and his wife Moira Miller, Jean and his wife Wendy McGean and the late Guy; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild; his brothers, Vincent, Leo and Roland; and his sister Joy.

The visitation will take place at Rideau Funeral Home, 4275 Sources Blvd., Dollard-des-Ormeaux (514-685-3344) on Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday, Feb. 2, 2004, from 10 to 11 a.m., followed by the service in the funeral home chapel at 11 a.m.

Burial will be in the St. Philips Neri Cemetery, Westport, N.Y., in the spring.

Francis A. Bezio

Keeseville — Francis A. Bezio, 78, of Pleasant Street, Keeseville, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh, with his loving family by his side.

He was born in Keeseville on July 6, 1925, the son of Francis F. and Margaret (LaMountain) Bezio.

Francis served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater during World War II.

He owned and operated Bezio's Studio and Photography as well as Francis F. Bezio Inc., both of Keeseville, for many years.

Francis was a charter member of the Keeseville Elks Lodge 2072, a member of the AuSable River Lodge F&AM and the Keeseville Veterans of Foreign Wars 1505.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and boating, but his true love was spending time with his family.

Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Mrs. Viola (Patnode) Bezio, whom he married Feb. 25, 1946, at St. John's Church in Keeseville; six sons and daughters-in-law, Darwin and Mary Anne Bezio, Norman and Gale Bezio and Gary and Paulette Bezio, all of Keeseville, Wendell and Anne Bezio of Morrisonville, Steven and Tammy Bezio and Brian and Sue Bezio, all of Keeseville; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Victoria Barber of Keeseville and Theresa and Carl Floyd of Westport; one brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Kathryn Bezio of Keeseville; 12 grandchildren; and five great - grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; and one brother, Sherman Bezio, who died in 1961.

Calling hours will be held Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Keeseville. Members of the Keeseville Elks Lodge will meet at 7 p.m. and members of the Masonic Lodge will meet at 7:30 p.m. for services.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at St. John's Church in Keeseville with Monsignor Leeward J. Poissant, pastor, celebrating. Burial will be in the spring in the Evergreen Cemetery in Keeseville.

Donations in his memory may be made to the Keeseville Rescue Squad or the Evergreen Cemetery Association.

Albert E. Bedworth

Ithaca, N.Y. — Albert E. Bedworth, of Ithaca, N.Y., died on Jan. 27, 2004.

He was the husband of Shirley (nee Franklin) of Ithaca, N.Y.; father of Dr. David Bedworth (Theresa Lamberton) of Cadyville, N.Y.; brother of June Robbins; grandfather of two; and great-grandfather of three.

Calling hours were held on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Lansing Funeral Home, Inc., 32 Auburn Rd., Lansing, N.Y.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, Ithaca, N.Y.

Leo F. Phaneuf Jr., 52, of Mooers, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

He was born in Champlain on Nov. 21, 1951, the son of Leo F. and Marie (St. Andrew) Phaneuf Sr.

There will be no calling hours. Services will be held at a time to be announced.

The E.F. Drown Funeral Service in Mooers is in charge of arrangements.
