Sylvia Proctor Remick

Plattsburgh — Mrs. Sylvia Proctor Remick, 90, formerly of Main Street, Peru, N.Y., passed away Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2004, at the Meadowbrook Health Care Facility.

She was born in Plattsburgh, N.Y., on Nov. 7, 1913, the daughter of Fred and Grace (Lavigne) Gerke.

Sylvia retired from New York Telephone on May 31, 1971, where she had been Chief Operator. She enjoyed bowling and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, a former member of the Business and Professional Women's Association and she was a member of St. John's Church in Plattsburgh.

Sylvia was predeceased by her first husband, John Proctor, and her second husband, James "Dave" Remick. She was also predeceased by her brothers Oakley and Clement Gerke; and her sisters, Opal Busch, Verna Gross, Carmen Purick and Bernice Wiley.

Sylvia is survived by her sisters, Adeline Goss of Boston, Mass., Beverly Hyslip of Onsett, Mass., and Joyce Doorey and her husband Michael of Peru, N.Y.; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Calling hours will be Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. from St. John's Church. Interment will be at a later date in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

Friends wishing may make donations to Alzheimer's Research or the American Heart Association.

Alvin C. Ducatte

PLATTSBURGH — Alvin C. Ducatte, 69, of Standish Street, died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2004, at the CVPH Medical Center.

He was born in Plattsburgh on June 20, 1934, the son of George and Bertha (Reil) Ducatte.

Mr. Ducatte was a member of St. Peter's Church. He enjoyed playing his guitar, football games at Bailey Avenue and time spent with his family.

He was employed by the City of Plattsburgh for nine years with the Parks and Recreation Department and before by Vlean Engineers.

Survivors include his companion of 30 years, Caroline Kelley; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Alvin Ducatte of Orlando, Fla., and George and Claire Ducatte of Orlando, Fla.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Randy Vann of Morrisonville and Karen and Brian Blanchard of Plattsburgh; one brother, Larry Ducatte of Plattsburgh; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Maidge and Donald Hewson of Plattsburgh, Brenda and James Stockdale of Plattsburgh and Linda Justice of Plattsburgh; and four grandchildren, Jennelle Vann, Joshua Vann, Nicole Vann and Michael Ducatte.

He was predeceased by two sisters, Gloria Collins and Aidrieth Dailey.

Calling hours will be held on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Peter’s Church.

Burial will be in the spring in the parish cemetery.

Helen P. Warren

Wilmington — Helen P. Warren, 85, of Haselton Road, Wilmington and more recently a resident of Uihlein Mercy Center, Lake Placid, died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2004, at the Adirondack Medical Center, Saranac Lake.

She was born in Wilmington on Aug. 9, 1918, the daughter of George and Mehitable (Lawrence) Marshall.

Helen was a graduate of AuSable Forks High School. She also was a graduate of Canton ATC.

She was a member of the Wilmington Church of the Nazarene for many years where she taught Sunday school and Junior Church; sang in the choir and for many years sang in a ladies trio. She had a lifelong interest in science and nature and was a bird watcher, enjoyed her gardens and was an expert in the study of rocks and minerals.

In this capacity, she was in charge of the Rock Shop at High Falls Gorge for many years, She also made various types of jewelry from different gems and stones. In her retirement, she took art classes and completed several landscape paintings.

She was a devoted wife, mother, friend and neighbor.

Helen is survived by her husband, Earl Warren of Wilmington, whom she married Sept. 14, 1941, in Wilmington; and two sons, George and Donald Warren, both of Wilmington.

There will be no calling hours. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Wilmington Church of the Nazarene. A reception will follow the service at the Holiday Lodge at the foot of Whiteface Mountain Highway.

Burial will be at a later date in the Haselton Cemetery, Wilmington.

Donations in her name may be made to the Uihlein Mercy Center, Lake Placid.

Marion J. Trerice

Rouses Point — Marion J. Trerice, 92, formerly of Champlain, died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2004, at Cedar Hedge Nursing Home.

She was born July 20, 1911, in Montreal, Quebec, the daughter of Charles and Ruth Hutchins Heavysege Jost. They predeceased her.

She attended Stanstead College and Fine Arts College in Quebec.

She was married to Robert L. Trerice, who predeceased her on Feb. 15, 1977.

Mrs. Trerice was a homemaker and also worked as a secretary in the area. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, CVPH Auxiliary, Champlain Literary Club, Champlain Fire Department Auxiliary and the North Country Golf Club for many years. She also enjoyed flying and had a private pilot's license.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband and her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Lyman Jost.

There will be no calling hours.

A funeral service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Christ and St. John's Episcopal Church, 18 Butternut St., Champlain, N.Y.

Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Champlain, in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christ and St. John's Episcopal Church. Arrangements are with the M.B. Clark Funeral Home, Champlain.

Mary E. Domizio

Bellevue, Neb. — Mary E. Domizio, 79, of Bellevue, Neb., died Jan. 27, 2004.

She was born in Plattsburgh on April 6, 1924, and spent her early years here.

She is survived by her husband, Alfred J. Domizio Sr.; a son, Alfred J. Domizio Jr. of Jacksonville, Fla.; a daughter, Pamela M. Fortin of Plattsmouth, Neb.; grandsons Nicholas J. Fortin of Omaha, Neb., and Jason L. Domizio of Jacksonville, Fla.; a great-granddaughter, Olivia N. Fortin of Omaha; and her sisters, Vivian Houghton of Plattsburgh, N.Y., and Frances Zalikowski of Buffalo, N.Y.

She was predeceased by three brothers, Harold, Clarence and Edward Boyle; and two sisters, Charity Skiff and Kathleen Darrah.

There were no calling hours.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 7101 Newport Ave., Suite 305, Omaha, NE 68152-2153.

The Bellevue Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bellevue, Neb., was in charge of arrangements.

Francis A. Bezio

Keeseville — Francis A. Bezio, 78, of Pleasant Street, Keeseville, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh, with his loving family by his side.

He was born in Keeseville on July 6, 1925, the son of Francis F. and Margaret (LaMountain) Bezio.

Francis served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater during World War II.

He owned and operated Bezio's Studio and Photography as well as Francis F. Bezio Inc., both of Keeseville, for many years.

Francis was a member of the Keeseville Elks Lodge 2072, the AuSable River Lodge F&AM and the Keeseville Veterans of Foreign Wars 1505.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and boating, but his true love was spending time with his family.

Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Mrs. Viola (Patnode) Bezio, whom he married Feb. 25, 1946, at St. John's Church in Keeseville; six sons and daughters-in-law, Darwin and Mary Anne Bezio, Norman and Gale Bezio and Gary and Paulette Bezio, all of Keeseville, Wendell and Anne Bezio of Morrisonville, Steven and Tammy Bezio and Brian and Sue Bezio, all of Keeseville; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Victoria Barber of Keeseville and Theresa and Carl Floyd of Westport; one brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Kathryn Bezio of Keeseville; 12 grandchildren; and five great - grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; and one brother, Sherman Bezio, who died in 1961.

Calling hours will be held Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Keeseville. Members of the Keeseville Elks Lodge will meet at 7 p.m. and members of the Masonic Lodge will meet at 7:30 p.m. for services.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at St. John's Church in Keeseville with Monsignor Leeward J. Poissant, pastor, celebrating. Burial will be in the spring in the Evergreen Cemetery in Keeseville.

Donations in his memory may be made to the Keeseville Rescue Squad or the Evergreen Cemetery Association.

Delores D. Cyphers

Witherbee, N.Y. —Delores D. Cyphers, 76, of 420 Witherbee Rd., Witherbee, N.Y., passed away Jan. 29, 2004, at the CVPH Medical Center, Plattsburgh, N.Y.

She was born on Aug. 31, 1927, in Watertown, Conn., the daughter of Frank and Marie (DaPaulo) DeSanto. She married Carlton E. Cyphers Sr. on July 2, 1949.

She was a communicant of the Church of All Saints, Mineville. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and the Mineville Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. She was a very loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren and she loved to read and play bingo. She worked for many years at Winchester Electronics in Watertown, Conn.

She was predeceased by her husband, Carlton E. Cyphers Sr.; her son, David Cyphers; grandson Carlton Cyphers III; great - grandchild Kelsey Suddard; her brothers, Larry DeSanto, Salvatore DeSanto, Joseph DeSanto, Michael DeSanto, John DeSanto and Thomas DeSanto; and her sister, Angie Radwick.

She is survived by her sons, Carlton Jr. and his wife Linda of Oakville, Conn., and Joseph Cyphers Sr. and his wife Linda of Mineville, N.Y.; her daughters, Tammy Cyphers and Todd Newton of Witherbee, N.Y., and Allison Rand and husband Harvey of Mineville, N.Y. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Joseph Cyphers Jr. and wife Melanie of Mineville, N.Y., Donna Tangenelli and husband Tony of Waterbury, Conn., Danna Cyphers and Lou Esposito of Watertown, Conn., Mandy Suddard of Lake George, N.Y., and Angela Novak of Port Henry, N.Y., Cody Cyphers of Witherbee, N.Y., Carly Newton of Witherbee, N.Y., and Tracee Rand of Mineville, N.Y.; eight great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; two brothers, Paul DeSanto and wife Lucy of Waterbury, Conn., and Peter DeSanto of Leighigh Acres, Fla.; two sisters, Ann Guliano of Prospect, Conn., and Lillian Gomez and husband Joseph of Prospect, Conn.

There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Church of All Saints, Mineville.

Memorial donations may be made to the Town of Moriah Ambulance Squad.

Margaret H. Durkee, 79, of State Route 11, North Bangor, N.Y., passed away Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004, at the Alice Hyde Nursing Home, Malone, where she had been a patient since Jan. 21.

She was born July 20, 1924, the daughter of Fritz and Theresa (Benoit) Rupprecht.

There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday, Feb. 4, at 10 a.m. in Notre Dame Church in Malone. Burial will be in the parish cemetery in the spring.

Arrangements are through the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Service of Malone.

Thelma H. Connors, 81, formerly of Edward Street, Malone, passed away Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004, at the Franklin County Nursing Home in Malone, where she had been a patient since December of 1996.

She was born in Constable, N.Y., on July 27, 1922, the daughter of the late Roy and Margaret (Bonner) Hutchins.

There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday, Feb. 3, at 10 a.m. in Notre Dame Church in Malone. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Lake Titus Road, in the spring.

Arrangements are through the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Service of Malone.

BROWN — A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday, Jan. 30, 2004, at 3:30 p.m. from St. John’s Church, Plattsburgh, for Mr. Gordon T. Brown Sr. who passed away Jan. 24, 2004, and his wife, Patricia Ann Brown, who passed away Jan. 28, 2004. Interment will be at a later date in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

Arrangements are with the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh.
